    All these Ohtani fatigue and underestimating Ohtani’s greatness and season - might just take the MVP from a 50/50 season - is incredible!!! In 2022, Judge had his 62 HR record breaking season and everyone just so enamored by his 62 HR record breaking for AL. While Ohtani has a 15 wins, 2.22 ERA and 36 HRs and higher WAR etc. but now ….its oh he don’t play defense or a 50/50 record won’t be enough bc Lindor plays defense although only has 0.5 fWAR lead over Ohtani and Ohtani has better 1.0 bWAR than Lindor. But who cares about the RECORD BREAKING - has NEVER been done EVER 50/50 by Ohtani bc Lindor plays a above average SS and not even in top 3-5 of any key offensive metrics that Ohtani either leads in or top 2-3. So amazing these anti Ohtani narrative. SMH!!!

      Oh, don’t forget in 2022, Ohtani was the first to ever qualify in both batting Average (17% did) AND ERA (5,8%) which has never been done!! As evident with such a small minority qualifier in each, to qualify in both simultaneously (!!?) who does that!! With better ERA than Gerrit Cole!
      But he lost to a guy who hit ONE single ball extra over the fence than Maris.. and 7th in most recorded HR in a season..

    Jeff Passan always dissed Ohtani. He said Ohtani would struggle as a hitter in the MLB. He also said Ohtani gambled with no evidence to support his claim, and when authorities exonerated Ohtani, he did not apologize for jumping to false conclusions.

    Yo in reality though, Ohtani doesn’t care about MVPs. He’s going out there hitting bombs and stealing bags to put himself and his team in the best position to win games. Same for Judge, Witt, and Lindor.
    It’s about winning. This MVP talk is just for us non-players to strike our own ego about how much we think we know the game.
    Let’s just enjoy these great players we have in our generation.

    Oh, and why aren’t there more Rehabbing Pitchers hitting 40/40 when they are nursing their TJ operated arm? then COMPARING him with other who are honing their offensive skills FULL TIME CAREER and brag that these specialized player have better number, even accomplished what them selves in history never accomplished 50/50…with Ohtani who has less than half of his time ever working on this skill! If that’s not Historical, then what is??

    A pitcher can win MVP, they're not fielding any position and their contribution is only every 5 days. The contribution of a DH is mostly every day. MVP shouldn't be reserved only to those who have dWAR. Ohtani's value is not merely his HR's and SB's, it's also the strenght he adds to the lineup, that which forces the other team's manager to plan differently.

    I LOVE and adore Jeff Passan, he definitely has his bad take moments but we can't deny the dude knows his baseball. Having said that; Lindor might be the runner up to Ohtani for MVP but it's not even close on who's going to win it, Ohtani is lapping him right now. I don't care if he DH's, dude is 6'4 being one of the best base runners in the sport, while also having a good on base percentage and casually about to hit 50 homers. All of that in just one season, oh and don't forget when he's healthy he's undoubtedly a top ten pitcher in baseball too. Lindor, and Mets fans, are really lucky Ohtani isn't pitching or we wouldn't even be talking about him right now.
    Everything else Passan said I can agree with. Judge and Witt are having better overall seasons, but ONLY because Shohei isn't pitching. Don't get it twisted through- No one is picking Witt or Judge over a HEALTHY Sho-time.

    • @Kingofthehill84

      Judge can't steal base like Ohtanti does.

    • @eulalawrence841
      @eulalawrence841 7 дней назад

      @@Kingofthehill84 Of course, but Judge is the better offensive player. He has Shohei beat in every offensive category besides the ones that include running the bases. Ohtani, without a shred of doubt, is the best baseball player in the world when he's 100% healthy but right now he's not. But RIGHT NOW, as in the 2024, Judge is having a slightly better year.
      Ohtani going 50/50 is insane, but I would still will take Acuna's 40/70 season than BOTH Judge's and Ohtani's 2024 seasons. The dude was on the best team in baseball, hitting .340, while hitting lead off and stole 70 bases. Also alot of Acuna's steals resulted in runs, which wouldn't have happened if he didn't get those bases, a bunch of Shohei's stolen bases lead to nothing happening. So why would I choose Shohei over Judge this season if last season I saw someone do what he did but more impressive?

  • @jimharper2180
    @jimharper2180 12 дней назад +2

    This isn’t that complicated. In baseball, you contribute in only two ways: by getting runs or getting outs. Ohtani is in a category of his own in terms of his contribution to run creation, but he obviously doesn’t do anything to get outs for his team. Lindor definitely does way more in terms of getting more outs, but there’s a very big gap between him and Ohtani on the offensive side (137 OPS+ vs. 177 OPS+). The question is whether Lindor’s defense makes up for that massive gap in offense, but it’s a matter of opinion.

      Ohtani is clear MVP in NL. Probably having the best season overall if Judge don’t get to 63 HR (as no longer on pace, now 59 HR pace). Ohtani will probably finish 51-55 HR and 50-60 Stolen base. All these lame excuses for Lindor is ridiculous. Ohtani leads in most (HR,OPS,SLG, OBP, total bases, Runs or top 1-3 in every key stats(BA,RBI,triples,stolen bases etc) - while doing 50/50. These people expect Ohtani to do 60/60 or 70/70 to win MVP!! Next year. If he pitches 20 games and sub 3.5ERA, Ohtani better win MVP each year based on these pundits analysis. WAR is not everything- btw, Ohtani leads Lindor by 1.0 bWAR and trailed by 0.5 fWAR only while penalize by being a DH. Imagine if he just stood at 1B, nobody would catch is WAR output. WAR is nice but really overrated. Look at stats and impact to team and MLB. Ohtani is clear MVP

    Basing wins on WAR is what has made baseball lose its magic. Ohtani is bringing back the real magic. Here is an example the Giants win the WS then Posey gets hurt, the giants weren’t even close to being as good of a team, Poseys influence on winning was way more than whatever WAR says. I seriously stoppped watching because of all these insane analytics that take away the actual magic of baseball. But I’m back now because of Ohtani, I don’t care what WAR says, 50/50 is legendary, 60 hrs is legendary. Those are the things baseball has been about for 100 years, all this WAR bs doesn’t translate to winning, look at the Angels they have Trout the king of WAR. lol not much influence on winning.
