I'm a straight conserative man, and I love Amy's music, and the indigo girls, why do I have to be gay to like this type of music, I have been a fan of theirs for a long time, closer to find is one of my favorite songs, music is music gay, or straight has nothing to bo with it.

Yes and no. For a full experience, you want to listen to a singer/songwriter with a knowledge of the context of their life experience. If they're vulnerable or sad, challenged or burdened, happy or in love it comes from life experience.
If someone like Amy Ray is open enough to be out we owe it to her to listen and learn or be open to learning.
