Thank you! I think you’re right, that little cabin was just begging for a hug ❤️ We are so grateful that we are the ones who get to give it the second chance it deserves!
Thanks! Yes it’s lakefront! It’s a 14km long lake in northern British Columbia. It’s miles from anyone else and set in a mighty spruce forest 🌲 We sure do feel fortunate to have it! A kitchen would be a great addition to that big cabin wouldn’t it. Thanks for Tuning in!
Looking great. Thats one way to gravel the road. What a change from the beginnings. You really peed off a few squirrels with taking over their home. I'll be following your builds for sure. Thanks for the tour.
Haha Indeed. There was a few angry critters! For now they’re all taking up residency in the big cabin. Please send good vibes and luck to us, we have no idea what we are doing, and we learn by feel haha
I swore I Subscribed the last video of yours I watched.....weird we were not. Love seeing the property and cabins. YOU guys are doing amazing.....It really looks like a piece of Heaven. Best wishes my friends -Jay
@Chris and Kristie your videos are great Kristie, I really enjoy them. The trick is just getting noticed and in the algorithm, which I think we got kind of lucky with to be honest. If you enjoy making videos and sharing them keep it up. 😊
Thank you! A lot of people that we spoke to had seen it before we purchased it. Nobody thought it was worth saving! I’m so grateful that we were able to purchase it before it was really “to far gone” structurally it was sound, aside from the roof that we had to re-do and the levelling. It would’ve been a real shame if someone purchased the property and tore down a piece of our heritage! Thanks for tuning in! Your channel is super entertaining 😃 even though you’re further north, you speak our language!
@@OffGridWithChrisandKristie I agree, it would’ve been a horrible shame to lose a piece of history like this. Hats off to you for the work you’ve done, it is a beautiful cabin. Thank you for the kind words.
@@RaisedinAlaska thank you! We are really hoping to have the time, motivation and funds to tackle the big cabin next! Unfortunately Chris thinks there is a few issues with the foundation, but the roof is in excellent shape. It’s a beauty, so hopefully we can fix it the way it deserves to be fixed.
Ohhhh that’s catchy! A resort name is not something we’ve really spent any time discussing yet! I like it 😃 Thank you for tuning in, and especially for engaging with us!
wow, that really cleaned up nicely! I'm sure it was a daunting task having to sanitize the place considering the shape it was in after all those rodents called it home for so long. Well done!
Hello fellow Canadian! Have you even been up to Churchill to see the polar bears? That’s on my bucket list for sure 🤩 Welcome! And thank you for subscribing to our channel
You had me at "airstrip " lol I can't wait to see what you guys get up too.And I'm hitting the subscribe button. And where are you guy's in Northern Ontario,??I can't find anything like that any tipps?
Hello there!! We are actually in northern BC, I really think we struck it lucky when we found this property. A lot of people who viewed it were deterred because it had no road access. Which made it affordable for us. Stay tuned for more on the Airstrip! We host an annual event for charity, and it’s all happening next weekend. There’s a video from about a year back you can check out if you like 😊
Are you referring to the small one? The inside of the little cabin is about 15’ x 19’ outside it’s 17 x 21 (that includes the log wall thickness) And the deck is the same size as the cabin. It’s a perfect size for the 2 of us, we are done raising babies and sometimes we have guests on the pull out couch :) Thanks for tuning in, and engaging! Where are you thinking of building your cabin?
@@OffGridWithChrisandKristie Thank you so much! Those measurements are really helpful!we have a little parcel in Presque Isle, Wisconsin (which is just south of the Wisconsin/Michigan State border). It’s going to be a couple more years before we can get started, so we’re dreaming and saving and planning!
@@melissawaitesmattio wonderful!! Best of luck to you in your adventure! We haven’t regretted the leap of faith for one minute. We are going to be building several more cabins, but smaller dry rentals :) Stay tuned!
@@CabinDweller I think it was in the 70s for the small cabin The church did a work exchange with some Switzerland builders, it all hand hewn by axe!! The deck was expanded recently by some church members, Chris actually works with a man who helped build the new deck! Small world 🌎❤️
@@CabinDweller we love the historical significance of it! When it was a bible camp it was called “Fort Of the Peace” because of the mighty Peace River that roars through our region

“So yah the place was pretty much disgusting“ 😂😂😂
Hahaha as you can see, it was a true fact! But luckily for us, disgusting just happens to be right in our price range 🤣🤣
How did you get it clean
Good question!
I sanded the entire thing inside. Top to bottom. Then we varathaned the logs and put in nice new chinking!
Did you say you dont have water in the Winter ?
That’s correct. We just haul it down in big jugs in the winter.
