      Blame Trudeau. He just spent 5.2 billion to the Philippines for climate change and spent billions for clean energy when more than 80% of Canadians do not want EV tax credits or cannot afford to buy EV vehicles. Plus Trudeau spent more money to assist Ukraine then even France which has a GDP almost twice as much as Canada.

      That's what the government wants you to believe, in reality there is more then enough housing it's that the government hasn't implemented a rental cap so all these landlords are paying off their own mortgages and their rental property mortgages and still profitiing with the cost of rent

      @shauncameron8390 I meant for new tenants there is no law that stops a landlord for asking 7000$ for a 1 bedroom apartment. Yes they can only raise existing rent 2.5% but for new tenants they cab charge whatever they want

      lol Have you seen the prices of hotels now since covid? lol. They all start at $300 a night minimum, especially here in Toronto. $300 a night for 30 nights is 9000 a month lol. Rent is still cheaper here in Toronto than that lol

    Hotel can kick out non paid clients at any time, but rental unit cannot. Tenants are protected by law, but they have to pay more for that protection.

    We live full time in a motorhome in and around Toronto and work full time , costs about 1100 a month in the winter to heat have water and electric

    In most of the USA guests get tenancy rights after 30 days, is it the same in Canada? It can cost $10,000+ to evict a problem guest/tenant. In some jurisdictions, you can't terminate the tenancy without cause. Does Canada have a similar situation?

    I’m in an Airbnb for 3 months, messaged the owner directly went around Airbnb the owner was desperate and I got a beautiful condo for 1600$ a month all inclusive. Deals are out there

      I would rent it out for sub market if the tenants can pay up front. Don’t want any freeloaders / professional tenants.

    Removing the GST from developer costs isn't going to accomplish anything; the cost to the home owner / tenant will still be based on a ridiculous market valuation.

    Blame LTB not the landlord for creating this situation. When you lose thousands of $$ from non-paying tenant whom you cannot evict, the cost will be recovered from the next tenant if the rental unit goes into the market. AirBnB is much safer option for the landlords.

      This is true. I could rent out my basement, but too many horror stories about unable to evict problem tenents and causing a bunch of damage you will never recover from.

    True i can stay at a hotel with free breakfast and cleaning service, WiFi, free coffee, free parking, pool and gym north of barrie for $115 a day.

    Appears renting has become a big business. Even when mortgages get payed off, rent still goes up. Have to increase the profits 📈

    They took 4 hotels off the don valley. Like these hotels were built for corporate travelers. And now the government Purchased 6 in scarborough. 3 of them are 5 mins away from me. 40 million just for 3... 401 and don valley is waste of money. Because the owners know how expensive they are is.
