LISTEN UP KIDS! If you're wondering how on Earth this helps you play drums better just blindly accept that the more you practice this the better you'll be with and absolutely no ceiling just keep practicing forever and you'll keep getting forever better.
This is the rudiment that I struggle the most with
As a new drummer, drums are all single and double stroke roles, different combinations, that's how it was explained to me and that really stuck with me personally!
The “single par-UP-diddle” as he calls it, is where the 🪄 magic is - it makes the flow work! It’s the UP stroke! Great video.
im quickly realising paradiddles are the Drumming equivalent to Old faithful strumming pattern on guitar Hard as hell to get but the moment you do you unlock a giant portion of playing and never forget t least thats my hope lol.
Who else thought of Eye Of The Tiger with the "moderately fast" speed?
As a non drummer I love these videos but I think it was a missed opportunity to not hear these outside the realm of the practice pad...
I’ve always said rudiments are to drums like Scales are to guitars.
The puns and the technic
The issue always comes down to being able to play this rudiment, as well as the others, at speed. Slowing it down to learn is fine, but until the speed comes up to the tempo of the piece that's being played, it's just a drum exercise. the doubles are always what limits everyone.
My singles and doubles are on fire (also at speed), but when i try this... long way to go :P. What does help to get better at this, is to number the stickings. So, RLRR = 1 and LRLL = 2. So you only have to count the numbers in your head instead of the rundiment itself. (sorry for my bad English btw). Iam Dutch..
Magic !!!
