@@JCStorm76 very cool. For me "Brigade" is overlooked. The "Heart" album got all the love..but I am also burnt out on much of it. I also think "Passion Works" is an amazing album. Their first two LP's were at the time mostly what I was listening to. Pat Benatar's early stuff was great as well. I was so hot for both sisters but Ann's Raven straight hair and strong voice I fell in love with. My older sister who has nearly a decade on me bought those first 2 albums in without 77 or 78 as a Christmas present. My sister's GF Nancy was really beautiful and reminded me so much of Ann with that shoulder length raven hair and those eyes. She was a 14 yr olds crush. Her and my sister had a falling out and they never were the same after that. I only bumped into her a handful of times afterwards and I was sad. Really because of how downright close they were. Heart was a great band who I've lost touch with over the years. Nice job. I'll have to check out some of their newer stuff now.

The early 80's were a rough time for the band. I seen them play at Great Adventure in June of 84. The concert was free with admission to the park. Back then I thought, "Geez, how the mighty have fallen!" I then saw them in Camden,NJ last Summer and they started the show with "Rockin' Heaven Down"! They hadn't played that live since probably the Bebe Le Strange Tour!! On side a note, I remember buying Magazine in a Juarez, Mx record store in '85. I just wanted it for "Heartless" which was written as "Cruel" on the album. I guess there's no spanish translation for "Heartless"???

Ps on a q&a somebody mentioned horslips, with you being a thin lizzy/gary moore fan i really recommend you should check out "the thain" if i know you right you will adore it. I don't know if you like folk but if you do check out the scottish band silly wizard they had some success in the us in the 80's. Not many singers can bri g me to tears but andy stewart (no not that one) can leave me blubbering. Anyway keep up the good work. I just turned 53 yesterday so were on the same page. Of course I always had a special relationship to Heart - I was a 16 year old female rock fan who was very much alone among the girls around me in my taste for music (Bee Gees, Disco urgh). The Wilson sisters played my music and the only other female artist to do so was Patti Smith. Anyway, they never became one of my favourite bands but through all the years they maintained a quite high level of quality and in recent years even released top albums that stand up to their great early work. Few bands have a discography that is as long as theirs with not a single album that is mediocre. They seem to finally receive the recognition they have earned.

Judas Priest/Heart/Joe Perry Project was my first concert '80...kick ass concert, walked out with 2 killer t-shirts (that I wished I still had) and higher than a kite, and I hadn't even smoked anything..dog and the butterfly does the same for me too, she was a dachshund and her name was Lady💛....i love all the early albums, the 80s ballads not so much.

Dog and Butterfly, for me is their masterpiece everything is just perfect on that album an absolute classic. Little Queen probably right behind it. Even though I knew about the band, it wasn't until the 1985 hit album that I became a bigger fan and especially a Nancy fanatic. Is she dreamy in that What About Love video, or what. Very underrated singer, I tend to prefer albums featuring more of her leads (Strangers of the Heart and I Need the Rain surely two of the best). Also think, if Two had been pushed as a single they'd had a huge comeback hit there, alas not to be though it's still recent enough to go for it.

I love the earlier albums. The reason that I haven't dug in as much with the later stuff is due to having multiple versions of the same albums out. For example, Red Velvet Car has extra songs on some import editions and they've done this with most releases since 1993. The Road Home in Japan had one of the songs switched out with the domestic version even though the discs would've held both.
The EU version of Jupiter has a couple of extra bonus songs but I didn't find out until I had bought the US release. The iTunes release actually originally came with a different bonus track. Fanatic came in three different versions with the standard, the Best Buy exclusive with three bonus songs (which I was able to find) and the Japanese version which dropped the Best Buy stuff but added live Led Zeppelin covers. There are other examples of Heart doing this and it drives me nuts.

Can't argue with the top five picks cos it's mirrors my onnwn. I was into Heart from Dreamboat until Bebe, then I started working, my music preference changed... and I never went back to them for ages, til the late 2000s. A younger office colleague was into their 80s stuff, Bad Animals onwards and he never heard of their early stuff. We constantly kid each other for being opposite side of the spectrum about the same band... 😬

I've been longing for you to do a review of the albums of one of the greatest female-fronted band of all time! As an 80s kid, i was introduced to this awesome band via their smash albums "Heart" and "Bad Animals" (which is still my sentimental fave LPs from them and well within my top 5 Heart album). "Dog and Butterfly" (tho regrettably a short album) for me is still their best.
But great review on their catalogue.

I'm the same way about Dog and Butterfly, Soul of the sea too, also Dreamboat Annie reprise is amazing. Little Queen great song, the list goes on and on. Soul of the sea still has a soft spot for me because it was the song I was getting into when I was massively in love with a girl in the mid 80's. I know they're huge fans of Zeppelin and you can definitely hear it in some albums.

I was a fan of the band back in the 70s, but they lost me around the time of Private Audition. I did get to see them live in Pittsburgh during the tour for that album, and the band could certainly bring it live. At that time they had Denny Carmassi on drums and Mark Andes on bass.
Also, a newcomer by the name of John Cougar was the opening act. He was good too.

I own only five albums from them. I need to listen to their other albums too.
    1) Little Queen - The emotions on this album make it my number one. "Cry to Me / Go One Cry" is the best ending ever! "Barracuda", "Love Alive", "Treat Me Well", "Dream of the Archer" - 10/10
    2) Dreamboat Annie - No bad or even mediocre songs. "How Deep It Goes" beats even classic songs "Crazy on You" and "Magic Man". "(Love Me Like Music) I'll Be Your Song" is very beautiful! The album artwork is just iconic! One of the most beautiful pictures in the world. 9.5/10
    3) Heart - The first Heart album from me. It is "a sell out" but the most of the songs are killing., especially "If Looks Could Kill" - the power of the vocals and lyrics could crush any cheating man. 9/10
    4) Brigade - The songs are mostly about love but is there anyone who doesn't love "All I Wanna Do Is Make Love to You", "I Didn't Want to Need You", and "Stranded"? These girls are some of the best vocalists in the world. 8.5/10
    5) Bad Animals - "Alone" is my favorite Heart song - although it is a cover from I-Ten. So perfect that even Celine Dion wasn't able to get anything near as great. "Who Will You Run To" and "There's the Girl" are also highlights. I don't like the title song, I just find it weird. 8/10

Appreciate the Heart talk. I have first 3 lp"s and still love Heart. Dreamboat, the second with Barracuda, Dog&Butterfly, and then I skip to Heart. So, after seeing this video, I think I want Bebe la strange, and to try Fanatic. It is good music throughout the catalog, can't go wrong.

Sorry "Heart purists" but I've always loved their 80s period along with their 70s period. I love the Heart album. For all the pop and power balladry, to these ears songs like If Looks Could Kill, The Wolf and Shellshock are among the hardest crunchiest sounding rockers in their cannon. Brigade also has its share of potent riff rock too, so I'll put those right at the/near the top of my list.
    1 Heart
    2 Little Queen
    3 Dreamboat Annie
    4 Bebe Le Strange
    5 Dog and Butterfly
    6 Brigade
    7 Desire Walks On
    8 Jupiter's Darling

Same thing for me. Love everything about this band, but I grew up and first heard of them in the 80s. All Eyes from their self titled album is one of my favorites, along with If Looks Could Kill and The Wolf as you mentioned. Also Black on Black II from Desire Walks, that single song makes me rank that album higher.
