Really enjoying your content, I’ve just got my 109 S3 back to a rolling chassis, had to replace the rear crossmember on mine, is all pretty straight forward when you have good steel around the problem parts. Greetings from Tasmania.
@@Harveyorange7356 The rust you folks have to deal with in the UK is heartbreaking. You have more skills than I do my friend. I have just finished my interior; new paint and seats. Fortunately only very minor surface rust. Brakes, axle, swivels , gearbox are next on the list. It’s a great feeling when you can check off an item on the list!👍
When you check for play in wheel bearings on the front axle, try with the brakes off and again with someone pushing the brake pedal as hard as they can. If the play persists on the horizontal check with the brakes on, it’s the steering, if it persists in the vertical check, it’s the swivel pins or bearings. The prop shafts have universal joints or “UJs”- I think you may be conflating CV joints when you refer to them as UV joints. That front chassis is beyond reasonable repair and needs scrapping at least from the bump stops forward. Patching it will result in a compromised standard and much more future repair work.
Thanks for the great tip on testing. Sorry about the CV UJ blooper it’s my age 😂 Buying a replacement front end has not been disscounted. We’ll have wait and see what happens once I start grinding ! Cheers Russ
I'd put a front 1/4 chassis on that. It has the front cross-member built in. Way quicker and easier than trying to repair all that.
Thanks for the comment. That idea has not been disscounted yet. We’ll have to wait and see what happens when I get grinding. Cheers Russ

First thing on the list is -
Make a list! Lol

Considering what might be going on inside the chassis, and only being a few mm thick, would it not save time to build up from a new chassis?
Thanks for the comment and Yes that could be a consideration but I’m not worried about the time. I love nearly every minute of it !Cheers Russ😀👍
New chassis is an awful lot of money
Thanks!
Thanks Back ! You’re the first one 😃👍
Chassis lubrication system, mmm , that would be all of the bits that are supposed to contain oil then , hee hee 😛😀
You know what they say. If it’s not leaking oil. It means there’s no oil in it 😂👍Thanks for the comment. Russ
