Yay for weird ass Wednesdays! I love the old strats, ESs, teles, LPs, etc but these weird ass instruments are always entertaining because they're different.
Hmmmm...let me put in in math terms ...Silvertone = SHIT =Danelectro…..got it! I cannot believe that a reputable store would be handling such crap as something that used to be sold in Sears department stores. No serious musician would ever own a POS...and that is not short for point of sales....like a Danelectro.
VERY INTERESTING MARKO I SAW THESE IN THE 1960s AT SPLEVIN'S MUSIC WHICH WAS LOCATED INSIDE OF WALLICHS MUSIC CITY ON SUNSET BL & HOLLYWOOD BL MR SPLEVIN WOULD LET ME PLAY HIS GUITARS ALL DAY IT'S A STRANGE INSTRUMENT MY FRIEND PF SLOAN (R.I.P.)
Cool guitar! Bit of a one trick pony but I’d love one, just the thing for those psychedelic moments. Loved Paint It Black. Gonna get my old Dano out and try and emulate the sound in some way. Everybody seems to have forgotten the huge contribution Brian Jones made to the Stones early hits like Under My Thumb, Red Rooster and Last Time etc.
Would so like to record some psyc trance rock with that! Needs a phase or flange pedal for starters. Games People Play, was a big hit with that guitar.
Ya know, if you balance the mute just right, you can do that on a Jaguar. It’s not just for Herman’s Hermits covers after all. 😉 It works even better if the pad wore off, like it did on my ‘63.
Yeah, I’ve heard of people putting things on the bridges of guitars in order to get something like that sitar effect. Jeff Beck used to get a pretty mystic eastern tone on some of the old Yardbirds tracks with just a Telecaster and a Tone Bender.
Way cool effect - just need to figure out how to keep her in reasonalby good tune. My Dano bass is my go to in the studio for a LOT - intonation is tough but we put up with it for the overall sound and vibe it gets.
I got to play one of these today. They're cool as hell! It was like a seafoam green. Don't they make new versions now? I didn't check, but it looked brand new and was like $800CAD
There was a big commotion during the filming of this guitar of the day. Joel yelled for help from his luthier room. Security and the crew rushed to see what was wrong, and found that Frank Stallone had Joel pinned up against his work bench claiming he WAS going to fix his Bigsby wiggle stick that day, or suffer the consequences. Apparently, it was stuck in the down position, and Frank couldn't get it up. Security, grabbed Frank by the shirt collar and jeans and threw him out on the 101. A private call was made to Post Malone, and when Frank got home, he found his shit on Post's front porch. Frank, gathered his stuff and stuck it in his poopy brown '74 Pinto and headed for his one true solace; muscle beach, where he watched the strong men lift weights and fed the seagulls very strong nugs of cannibis. Frank was found the next day, passed out on a park bench covered in gull poop, but his sunglasses still looked cool.
I have the Jerry Jones reissue...fantastic sound ...starting in '67...into the early '70s quite a few hits had the electric sound.... I think he meant Gretsch painted the clear plastic not Rickenbacker. I thought he'd play.... " Green Tamborine " " Games people play " " Turn down day " etc. Great show !!

Cool! I’ve never seen an original Baby Sitar. This one sounds pretty good, but the buzz bridge isn’t buzzing on the bottom strings. There’s an asjustment for that. In 1968 whwn these were produced, I was playing lead guitar in a rock and R&B band, and I’d have bbwen doubling on sitar if I’d had one. I uswd to go to India Imports in San Franciaco and play theirs-I actually got to be OK at it.
Very cool. Not as good as a Coral, but it is still a good-enough item for getting the 60s faux sitar. Wadsworth Grizzlies. Cool. I lived in Akron for 57 years until I got smart and moved to Culver City. I used to hang out with many Wadsworth people. Played a few bar gigs there, can't remember the names of the clubs. I went to Kenmore High until they caught me getting High in School. Do you know any of the Easy Street guys?
I was hoping Mark would bust out Hooked on a feeling when I saw the thumbnail for this video but I guess not (and no I’m not talking about The Blues Swede version I’m referring to the one and only original recording by BJ Thomas)

I’m with you there. These weird things are loads of fun and we’ve got the rest of the week to drool over the more “normal” stuff .
Don’t Come Around Here No More - Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers
Paint it Black - The Rolling Stones
Should've played the solo to "Watching Over".
I thought maybe he was going to crank out some "Within You Without You."
when you pulled it out... I expected Norwegian Wood! I'm sad now! lol
Yeah, I'm always sad if I don't get wood.
Nah he’s Italian isn’t he
That’s what she said!
Or cats in the cradle
Or even Within You Without You
my 2 cats just hissed an growled hearing this 😂
gamer nut I was just gonna say both of mine gave me a horrified look & ran to the basement 😳
😂😂🤣
What if norms was a lefty guitar store and all the videos are just mirrored?
Angered Cheese Time to put the joint down.
Boat Axe It’s a crack pipe actually but..
The natural grain on that neck is beautiful.
Song 1: Don't Come Around Here No More - Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers
Song 2: Paint It Black - The Rolling Stones
It's been a week now and I still can't unhear that
There is a very good reason less than 100 were made.
jon golden agreed
Haha
Because they were too awesome for people to handle?
It's interesting... Danelectro reissued it and they're in production now. Actually quite popular in my store, which I did not expect.

Get the incense burnin and the sitar out, we gonna camp in the city park man.
Thx for making an old Danelectro fan happy!

Love the intonation gag. Hilarious.
Outstanding!! Something different and totally cool!! 1968. Wasn’t that about when the Beatles were in the Maharishi phase??

frank stallone
pancake ass
baba yaga that guy’s a real menace, too
baba yaga and his fat wife.
Not usually a fan of rosewood fretboards, but that one is especially nice with the grain pattern in it

If you have the right Dano, you can buy the buzz-bridge on it's own and bolt it right on
Would so like to record some psyc trance rock with that! Needs a phase or flange pedal for starters.
Games People Play, was a big hit with that guitar.
Sounded trippy. Was looking for My Green Tambourine.
great job on paint it black , never heard a sitar do power chords before , the things ya learn on GOTD
always makes me happy and sad when you play tom petty
You know what's really amazing,,,
WE ARE STILL TALKING SILVERSTONE
Ya know, if you balance the mute just right, you can do that on a Jaguar. It’s not just for Herman’s Hermits covers after all. 😉

I'm watching this on a Wednesday
Wired ass Wednesday delivered this week!!!
They still make them. I'd pick one up.
Try as I might, I can't unsee that thing.
Way cool effect - just need to figure out how to keep her in reasonalby good tune. My Dano bass is my go to in the studio for a LOT - intonation is tough but we put up with it for the overall sound and vibe it gets.
Whoever is fisting that cat can they please stop!
Love your work Mark.
yow. that intonation. but that aint really the point is it
I got to play one of these today. They're cool as hell! It was like a seafoam green. Don't they make new versions now? I didn't check, but it looked brand new and was like $800CAD
Just wow.that is out there!

Happy Weird-ass Wednesday
everyone! Dano's in da house!
Yeah that's cool, why not!
i have no idea what i'd do with it, but i like it.
Fuck yeah dude! Paint It Black was rad. Sick outro lick too
Cool never saw one before! Thanks for showing it off!
Mark is a funny guitar nerd but we all still love him 😂
I have the Jerry Jones reissue...fantastic sound ...starting in '67...into the early '70s quite a few hits had the electric sound....
I think he meant Gretsch painted the clear plastic not Rickenbacker.
I thought he'd play....
" Green Tamborine "
" Games people play "
" Turn down day " etc.
Great show !!
Jerry Jones those are the only authentic danelectro clones. I had a couple Jerry Jones guitars.
Brian Jones Lives!!
Man I love these things
reminds me of when Ross played the bagpipes in Friends
Cool baby sitar :-)
Nice. Love the sound of it.
I subscribed to your channel. You have some really nice guitars and give great details about them.
Glad I didn't miss this one.
I had a Coral Bass from the 70's semi-hollow body
John A those exist?
Listen while I play ay ay ay ... my green tambourine
That was awesome and weird, that Petty was killer!
Love this.
Cool. I’d study up on the Do It Again solo in case you get another one of these or a Coral Sitar. ;)
Danelectro was sold to MCA in ‘66/‘67. MCA created the Coral line to promote their record label, Coral Records.
Hmmmm...let me put in in math terms ...Silvertone = SHIT =Danelectro…..got it! I bought a bag of those TGI Friday bacon and cheddar potato skins. When you eat them.. you can hear one of those zitars..
In what tuning is it ?
I want one. The new ones don't have leg rest and the new ones got an extra vibe bridge,( I think thats what I seen in an advertisement).
Holy Shit! Wadsworth? Ever had a Primo's Italian Sub? Best Ever!
Smooth
You rock mark! And swing swing Jen ;)
I was hoping for, 'Within You, Without You' .... George Harrison
Oh my God, Ravi Shankar rolls over in his grave hahaha
The Jacket!

Very unusual grain on that rosewood fretboard!
Deja vu all over again? Even still...it’s a trip!
That was awesome Mark !
Ok, enough is enough. It is time to learn the Denny Dias solo from Do it Again for the next sitar.
Weird-Ass fer certain! Great effort. Lemmo would've been a cool sound 😁
What strings are used in this?
Hey! Now THAT'S SOMETHIN Ya don't See Everyday!
Cool
What, no "Cry Like A Baby"? haha. Just teasing, nice demo!
I was waiting for Jen to say it looked gourdgeous.
Mark that one could of used a whole lot of the OCD pedal.
Fordman7575 Every time I hear “OCD pedal” I imagine it’s a pedal that you constantly have to tweak in order to get it just right.
I once had a 50 quid Strat copy that sounded something like that. Could never get the bastard set up right... :-)
If I could afford even that my wet dream of being able to play with the sitar sound is forever gone
This was dope to see tbh
WHAAAT!!!!! no Signed Sealed Delivered I'm Yours?
Neato
Very cool. Not as good as a Coral, but it is still a good-enough item for getting the 60s faux sitar.

Did you get caught by the principal? I did 😆
@@davidkastin4240 - LOL. The Vice Principal, and the English teacher.
@@rb032682 lol
Awesome!
Love this channel
Um... yeah 😳
Almost as good as a Gibson.
Skip to 4:34 to actually hear the thing
I was expecting some yardbirds
Is that your new word for the day, "rad" ? 😁
I was hoping Mark would bust out Hooked on a feeling when I saw the thumbnail for this video but I guess not (and no I’m not talking about The Blues Swede version I’m referring to the one and only original recording by BJ Thomas)
They are making them still
I wouldn't gig with it but it would be handy in a zombie survival scenario !
When he palm muted during the paint it black chorus and it turned into a guitar
Deary me. Turns out not everything to come out of 1968 sounds cool.
Brian Jones !!!!
Like something that gets shot in a cartoon from the 60's
Stones!
Should have played "Cry Like a Baby" by the box tops
weird but also way cool
Hope everyone’s having a great / weird Wed. Sending the love from Scotland 🏴 p.s what’s your option of a Japanese Strat aerodyne
