Get yourself a few wool sweater/jumpers, fingerless gloves and a balaclava for steam cleaning days! All that water will just add to the damp winter chill. And a cheap polar fleece jacket (£10 at Primark!) to leave in the van. Cheap fleece or flannel pajama bottoms, a size too-large can go right over jeans or squashed under waterproof pants to cut the windchill.
Binge-watching your channel at 4am. This is my new favorite channel now, this is more satisfying compared to the other ones that I was subscribed to. New fan from 🇵🇭
Sid, may I make a suggestion? Being a WFP and pressure washer user for nearly two decades now, in the winter months, I have self built insulated boxes that I cover vulnerable parts with, i.e. the hose real, the water pump and the pressure washer itself. Now I understand that the pressure washer is a large item to cover, and you have space constraints on the van, but if you are storing said item in the garage over night, then this shouldn't be an issue. Make a box, (10mm ply would suffice), line it with reflective insulation, (shiny side toward the items that need to be kept frost free), adhere it with spray glue, buy a few decent hot water bottles, put a couple inside the box, maybe even put a hot water tank blanket over the pressure washer with the bottles underneath that over night. If the box seals tightly, then this should prevent your freezing issues. It's worked for me, hope it helps you. All the best.
Man what a difference! And By the looks of it, it seems streaming/pressure washing is not only making the job cleaner, but also faster, and it looks less straining than the scraping! Very nice
Awesome Sid! Keep us posted about the solar panels, I’ve had a tricky one with loads of white lichen recently. Be interested to see what chemical you use.
Wow that new machine is the game changer Sid. Thought it was funny to 'wake up the moss' only to slay it 😆. May want to check the weather forecast the night before. 👍
Hi sid if I could offer you some advice when it comes to cold and hands. Get some seal skin gloves there ace. There warm and waterproof, when I do my windows I can squeeze out the warter ok and gloves stop dry. They do cost a bit but well worth the money.
Great job Sid! The electrical engineer in me has to correct you though, it's not voltage that is the issue but rather current draw, electric motors can be hungry beasts especially during start up.
My wife and I had to have a cup of hot chocolate just from watching this video. We don't know how you keep going with the combination of water and cold. The moss on this one could have grown crops! Great transformation. Looking forward to the next job.
Well done mate, massive Level up 🍄 End result spotless 👍🏼 Invest in some big tarps to cover ground level. Doesn’t reduce the amount crap you got to clear up but can help speed the process up especially if it’s a stoned drive!
Great job Sid, customer must be well pleased. Get yourself some thermal underwear to keep yourself cosy and wear some gloves too. It was freezing today.
Nice one Sid, it’s good to see the clean up process after the steam cleaning, I’m thinking of going that route this year also after seeing the results. Happy new year. Frank
Yummy. 😆 Such a satisfying video. That roof came up beautiful. Good to see you've got work so early in the year. Hope you've got your thermals ready for the cold weather. ❄️🥶
Hi Sid, with these roof cleans is it mainly done to keep the house looking tidy and for aesthetics, or is there a reason you don't want buildup on the roof? Only asking as I have several rental properties in Liverpool and have not really considered this before? I really enjoy your videos and your approach to work / values / the community, good to see that attitude in 2022!
Hi Tom, most people usually get it done due to aesthetics and the annoying splodges of moss dropping off onto the drive and patio every day, also it fills guttering up regularly so can cause damp issues if that isn’t sorted. But finally it eats away at the tiles, grows between the gaps and forces them to shift and crack. It usually takes quite a long time for that to happen though but it is inevitable. Large buildups like the one in this video do require a clean pretty sharpish to be honest. If you need a quote for anything just pop me an email over 👍 thanks for watching mate
Moss is extremely dangerous and damaging to a roof, it actually eats into the tiles ... If you have properties and they are covered then as preventive maintenance it's a great idea to get it cleared off and then bio treated to help kill off all the moss. Also helps it stay clear for longer.
Great and satisfying clean! I don’t know how you two can work in such cold conditions. Take a couple thermos of hot beverages along on days like this. Brrr 🥶
Hi Sid, great work as usual love all your videos, very satisfying to watch! I'd recommend getting yourself some goretex waterproofs, not cheap but they are worth every penny especially in horrible weather they keep you bone dry!
Hey Sid, I see you taking breaks, and I assume the long length of line plus water is not easy to handle over the day. Have you considered rigging up a fulcrum against the scaffold with counterweight to help holding the water line easier?
Wow! What a difference to that roof. Looks amazing! Clearly very chilly though so perhaps some thermal clothing! 😉Shame the other jobs didn’t go quite to plan. Very frustrating.
Have you ever had trouble with pressure washing roofs since you started like water ingress or anything or accused of damage? Thanks sid keep up the great work very inspiring 💪
Hi Sid Wow great results as usual !! Could I ask do you have a disclaimer when power washing roofs just in case it leaks in and causes staining? Also do you have a different scraper for the ridge tiles as they can be a little awkward. Cheers dude. 👍👍👍
We have mossy rooftops here, it's that bad that it's started growing in the roadway of our quiet cul-de-sac! Was rather odd to see it there, but it's starting to grow everywhere! All over the neighbours front drive too! I didn't know it grows like that. And I thought the ivy was bad! 😱
Amazing job! Just wondering - is it less wear and tear on your physically to do the steam cleaning on the roofs rather than the scraping and chemicals?
Oh my God, I'm so glad that here in Barcelona we have those plain roofs because we don't usually deal with snow, I thought the roof was black but the black was the nastiness D:
I do carpet cleaning and the thing I hate most is ice cold nights and 1c days, its a machine killer, especially for brass fittings, I try and drag all the stuff that can freeze out of the van and into to garage before a frost, a one off mild frost you can get away with a couple of days in a row around 0c with out getting the equipment inside and thats a different matter.
You haven’t used all that diesel I put in your van before Christmas Lol. Get yourself a scruffs body warmer like I was wearing when you come to Shrewsbury, 100% recommend.. Fantastic difference on that roof Sid..
Hahah! it was gone in 2 days with all the weight i drive around with xD will put it on the list now mate, i don't think ive ever actually tried a body warmer on :D
Dunno if this helps, I contracted out a job last summer where the customer wanted it steamed but I don't offer that, the company I got to do it actually did a quick scrape 1st, they were adamant that the thick layer needs to be scraped before hot wash
Dirt and shadows make a huge difference to solar panels. There's an EEVBlog video where he figured out why his solar panel efficiency dropped quite a lot and it was a shadow from an aerial mast, so he moved it. And that's in Australia where there's loads of sun.
It was a bloody cold day today and my uni-valve failed around noon so that stopped play and cost a few quid to replace. Good luck tomorrow…sleet forecast here.
What are the chances! I am a Brit (from Leicestershire) , currently living in California and I click on this random vid from my recommendations and start watching. Immediately I think "This looks really familiar..." Then see the sign for Byrkley Garden Centre and realise that this is about half an hour down the road from where I used to live!! So weird!!
Wow Sid that’s amazing mate!! I’m seriously thinking of getting a vtuff, when you get chance on a warmer day would you add in your vid maybe a little time on set up after your arrival to show me day to day what it’s like having one of these and to give me more of an idea if it’s for me or not. It’s a lot of money so would be a massive help mate. Can’t believe how good that came up mate what a class job you and Kev have done there! 👍🏼

Invest in some thermals. I finally did and it's like "wtf have I been doing all these previous winters?" 😂
Get yourself a few wool sweater/jumpers, fingerless gloves and a balaclava for steam cleaning days! All that water will just add to the damp winter chill. And a cheap polar fleece jacket (£10 at Primark!) to leave in the van. it's faster until you have to clean up all the mess :D but it sure is satisfying
From an onlooker, that machine looks like it is easier to clean the roof with. It came right off and looks amazing!
Never knew watching someone clean a roof could be so satisfying
Awesome Sid! Keep us posted about the solar panels, I’ve had a tricky one with loads of white lichen recently. Be interested to see what chemical you use.
I bet the wet moss is a pain but the steamer gives instant gratification. Roof looks amazing 💖💖
Wow that new machine is the game changer Sid. Thought it was funny to 'wake up the moss' only to slay it 😆. May want to check the weather forecast the night before. 👍
The roof looks great! It's amazing how the right tools, being used by someone who knows how to use them, can make such a difference. Cheers!
Great job! Love seeing the details of your day. Really showed what you have to go through in your work. Thanks for a great video. Stay warm!
Looks amazing. Great work Sid and thanks for sharing this with us take care

You did a lovely job on that roof. It almost liked brand new!
You've done amazing over the past year. I'm glad I've been able to watch you grow!
BRILLIANT! GREAT WORK, I WORK IN THE TRADE AND THIS IS FLAWLESS!
Perfect time of upload, can just lay down and watch it peacefully 👋
Okay, wow! That roof looks amazing after the steam cleaning. It also looked easier to do than scraping, but I could be wrong.
Great job Sid! The electrical engineer in me has to correct you though, it's not voltage that is the issue but rather current draw, electric motors can be hungry beasts especially during start up.

That amazing mate. Top man.
Being honest, I like how mossy roofs look, but I assume that's bad for houses and your work, Sid, is so amazing! Even in the cold like that 😆
I'm sure moss has cooling advantages in the summer time, but concrete tiles probably don't like it.
Wow..lots of thick moss on the roofs in the UK!

maybe a night heater for the van to prevent overnight freezing during the winter months mate??
