Hope you enjoy the show, this show was a let down for a lot of people. You've already mentioned a few of the issues already, and this is just the first episode.
I love the scene with Owen. It shows how brave he is, he doesn't even flinch. He's harsh sure, but his courage is beyond question. So glad you're reacting to this!
I just wish they had explained why Owen hates Obi Wan so much. I get it that he is afraid that Luke could follow in Anikin's steps but there is something more to it.
It's essentially a pissing contest about parental authority over Luke. Obi-wan gave Owen the child to look after, but is still insisting that he'll need him back once he's ready to be trained. He's essentially giving the impression that Owen and Beru are just a child-minding service, and that decisions about how Luke is raised are ultimately up to Obi-wan. Basically, Obi-wan is behaving like he should have the authority to overrule Owen's parenting decisions. It makes complete sense that Owen is responding to the implication that Luke isn't really his kid by being combative. @@ronaldnelson6692
Personally, I LOVE watching Ewan McGregor as Obi-Wan Kenobi again. He's my favorite character in Star Wars, and Vivien Lyra Blair is fantastic as Baby Leia, imo. Obi-Wan really didn't deserve anything that happened to him, from being a single dad to a hurricane when he had only just graduated Jedi School to just how badly Anakin went wrong. He did his best, and frankly did a freaking incredible job, considering. Obi-Wan was NOT one of the more powerful or promising Jedi as a youngling. By the time of the Clone Wars, he was acknowledged as the absolute master of one of the forms of lightsaber combat. He had a seat on the Jedi Council-and he was young. He had a reputation as one of the Jedi Order's absolute best strategists. He was an excellent investigator and so good at wartime negotiations it was his freaking nickname. And even when Anakin became Darth Vader, even when he hated Obi-Wan with a passion for what went down on Mustafar, Obi-Wan retained his respect. Obi-Wan remained Vader's ideal of the best of the Jedi, as you see in the way he speaks to and of Obi-Wan in the original trilogy. And both Anakin as Anakin and as Vader learned A LOT about lightsaber combat, strategy, and maneuver from Obi-Wan. Anakin's choices were his own, and the result of manipulation by Palpatine reaching back all the way into his childhood. I kinda love Owen and Beru. They are different kinds of parents than Bail and Breha. We're never told they wanted to adopt a child like the Organas did, and Owen and Beru's associations with the Skywalkers would be related to the painful murder of Owen's beloved stepmom. But they clearly didn't hesitate at all in taking Luke on. They clearly took excellent care of him and loved him every bit as much as Bail and Breha loved Leia. Owen in particular is as fiercely protective of Luke as anyone could ever be-even overprotective, but it comes from the best possible place in him. Love your intros, and love your thoughts. Glad you're enjoying the series.
Ewan McGregor really channeled Alec Guinness more in this show, makes Obi-Wan feel like a half way point between the prequels and OG. That Tatooine Double Suns ages a person much faster.
This whole first scene with Young Leia is pretty much perfect. She defies her parents and gets away with it. She does what she wants and isn't punished. Even when her mother punishes her by taking away her toy droid, she immediately steals it from her mom, gets caught, and he mom lets her do it anyway. No consequences for anything she does. It's a perfectly fitting childhood for the spoiled princess that Carrie Fisher played. In A New Hope, Leia was cold and vicious and bitchy to everybody, including the people saving her from execution, and she expected no consequences. But there were consequences and we see her learn and grow and become a better person through the trilogy. This young version epitomizes that spoiled child princess who never suffers any consequences. it's one of the few things the writers did very well.
@@5353Jumper Maybe. I like her. She had the perfect personality for the role. My only objection is that, at the time of filming, she was 9 but looked to be 2 or 3 years younger. Finding out she was only 1 year too young makes it better, but it's a TV show, it's visual media, and looks count in visual media. One day she'll look like the age she really is or even better, she'll be a 22 year old playing a highschool kid and for once Hollywood will actually use somebody who looks 18 for a highschool movie. But for the role of Leia, at that time, she acted the part excellently but didn't look the part.
I hope you end up reacting to The Clones War animated series. You’ll see Anakin and Obiwan being a inconic duo and you’ll get to see more characters from the prequel movies.
Yes, young Leia is on Alderaan. There is a hint from an earlier scene why Third Sister is searching for Obi-Wan. You missed it, but the answers will come.

Dam I love Kim's Star Wars reactions. She really is sharp as a Samurai Sword. She just .. gets it. She gets it as if she has been watching these movies over and over again since they came out. Yes Kim. That planet is Alderaan and yes it's the Planet Grand Modd Tarkin "tested" the Deathstar's Super Lazer on and destroyed in A New Hope. As far as why you want to cry... Is because yes... It is very sad, very tragic. Like I said you are very insightful. Very sharp. I know people who have been watching Star Wars for years and don't "get it" as well as you do. kudos to you Kim. Can't wait for Kenobi EP.2 reaction. Keep up the amazing work.

Hi Kim. I was 9 years old when I saw Star Wars in '77. And trust me back then no one was prepared for that. But a kid? I walked out a Sci-fi fan for life. Enjoyed your high energy reactions.
The writer for the Obi-Wan show has admitted quite a lot that he didn't watch the Prequels, which results in the show ripping off lots of moments from Rebels and Jedi Fallen Order, and not matching the films much.
You are insightful, know history and have an exuberance for storytelling that is fun to watch. Your editing is most excellent. Thanks for the great reaction, keep on keeping on!
Some notes for context. Inquisitors are all force sensitive. Reva, much like Leia, can read people's emotions and, because of that, has strong intuition. It's not a learned skill, you either have it or you don't. So, while it may have seemed convenient, there is logic to it. Second, yes, the planet that gets blown up in A New Hope is Alderann. I'm glad that you're enjoying your Star Wars journey. The really nice thing about this show is that you don't need a lot of extra knowledge from outside the movies. Having seen every piece of Star Wars before this came out, I'm really interested to see your take on this since you're coming in from the other side.
The live action Star Wars shows and games use The Clone Wars and Rebels as a basis for the lore, so those are gonna have to be watched before the other stuff.
Alderaan's gravity is a bit denser than the homeworld of Leia's pursuers - which explains why they had to do that little hop-skip-jump to chase her and had trouble with the lag during pursuit.
It is confirmed in the Star Wars Canon comic Darth Vader when he had his castle built on Mustafar and then in the Vader Immortal vr game. Vader/Anakin tried to revive Padme from the end of episode 3 Revenge of the Sith, but he couldn't see it because Luke and Leya were already born. Because he thought they died in her womb. So when he tried to revive her, he couldn't see them because they were already born. And then when he found out that he had a son, he wanted to be sure Darth Vader 2020 comic period between Star Wars episode 5 and 6. And some time after that, this cinematic Fallen Angel takes place.
yes this planet is alderaan. it gets blasted by the first deathstar in ep. IV. you can always recognize the planet by its lush nature, snow covered mountains, dense forests and confined non-intrusive cities with high towers.
Your reference to the Holocaust, is worthy. In the SW universe, the Inquisitors of the Sith, were students of the Jedi, turned to the Dark Side, to hunt…Like the SS and local agents did, to find who they didn’t want.
27:00 I love that Leia tells off her cousin. I love that she's smart. I'm not sure I'm on board with her being a 10 year old with a degree in Psychology. That level of psychoanalysis seems out of place for a 4-th grader.
Inquisitors are essentially force-sensitive underlings of the Sith. Usually either found, or captured and converted by force. They are trained in lightsaber combat but are intentionally left in the dark on some techniques so that they can't possibly rise to the level of the Sith themselves.
Thanks for reacting to the show Kim! It’s flawed and nowhere near the best Star Wars show (live action or animated) but I do still enjoy it. Mostly that’s due to Ewan McGregor’s performance and Obi-Wan’s scenes with Leia, finally giving him the chance to be a surrogate uncle to both of the Skywalker twins. Also love how both sets of adopted parents to the Skywalkers are good parents to them 🙂
Leia being forced to apologize isn't so much because she's a girl, but because she's in "polite society" and part of the nobility and the political world. It's not about the apology so much as it is about keeping up appearances and saving face.
I’m quite eager to see how you’ll rate all these new Star Wars shows. A vast majority of the series has been a positive surprise to me so far. I hope you’ll enjoy the journey as well.
She didn’t single Owen out for plot. She singled him out because he was the only one bravely looking her in the eye. Everyone else had their heads down. Which adds to your holocaust analogy. When new prisoners arrived in the camps, the overseers would single out and kill the ones who stood tall and let the fearful ones live.
22:50 The thing I love about Reva's character is that she's a villain BUT she has the guidance of the Force. (In the Star Wars universe the Force is Fate and in any fictional story, Fate is the plot, yes, but when it's explained as being an intrinsic part of the nature of the universe we're viewing, I count that as good writing.) So, here we have a bad guy whose actions are guided by the fate of the plot _just like the good guys usually are_ and to me that makes her _terrifying._ (There are parts about this series where the writing could've been better, I agree there with the critics, but this particular point is one of my favourites.) It also makes her character's controversy with her own allies that much more interesting. Yes, she's headstrong and acts rashly and can't explain her motives to her own allies in a way that would foster their cooperation, but her blind instinct is _right._ She's _right_ but her allies are also _right_ not to trust her, because Sith who trust other Sith without being given proper, honest explanations will be preyed upon by their own allies. This is the intrinsic down-fall of evil itself, in- and outside of Star Wars.
Since you like L0LA, you might want to watch the movie "*Batteries Not Included". L0LA was based on little robots from that movie, so there IS a connection between the Star Wars universe, and Earth.
Obi-Wan is one of the most powerful jedi in the order before order 66. In the novelization of Revenge of the Sith Mace Windu says Obi-Wan isn't just a master of form 3 Soresu. But he calls him The Master of form 3. Mace is one of the most talented duelists in the Order. But he says Obi-Wan is better than him. Because form 3 is the defensive fighting style. By the end of the clone wars he could walk through waves of blaster fire and come out unscathed. Mace uses a form that kinda towes the line between the dark and light side. He uses this form because he has a darkness inside him and the form teaches him discipline. He admits his own weakness while complimenting Obi-Wan. Because Obi-Wans mastery of form 3 is a direct representation of what the Jedi are supposed to be. If you asked me Obi-wan would definitely defeat Mace in a duel. Because Mace wouldn't be able to touch him
Goede reactie !
9:35 "Oooh, he let him go. Interesting choice. Why would he do that?" He wouldn't. He didn't. The Grand Inquisitor stopped Reva's lightsaber from killing the Jedi, and then he scooter her off to the side with his Force, but that's all he did. The Jedi ran outside and made a few bits of wood fall to cover a small section of the path and not a single one of those mighty inquisitors could figure out how to go around it, chop it up with lightsabers, or blast it out of their way with the force. All they could do was stand there and say "Huh, we're powerless to chase this enemy. I guess we have no choice but to stand still and watch our enemy run away." I wish I was wrong. But given what they do to this same Jedi in about 30 minutes from now, it's obvious they didn't want to "let him go". And given that these writers do the same thing when bounty hunters chase tiny Leia, when Kenobi chases tiny Leia, when Reva chases Kenobi, when Vader chases Kenobi, etc., this is the beginning of the pattern of "I stand there and watch my enemy escape because I'm powerless deal with a trivial obstacle." It's the worst kind of writing and these writers do it over and over and over. And they aren't even subtle about it. I swear this whole series was written by a child younger than the main star of the series (Leia).I wonder why hI wonder why h
28:10 the big thing about apologizing to her cousin was because they needed his dad’s support in the senate so they had to kiss up to all of them. 30:30 probably Flea messing around.
Definitely hoping you're able to get an editor soon. From what I've seen of other content creators I watch like you it is EXTREMELY helpful obviously and you definitely deserve it. This show is gonna be fun for you I can tell. Have a good one! 👏❤️
Glad you're watching this. I had just enough grace to get through it the first time and forgive the atrocious writing and plot. Now I'm mostly just annoyed that they didn't spend five more minutes thinking of a better story and character development, but there's definitely enough nostalgia to make it a fun watch if you're not as worried about that stuff.
I thought that after the six Star Wars episodes you will watch 7, 8, and 9 too. It would be fantastic! But hello, the Obi-Wan series are also fantastic.. :)
She had the episode ready some time ago, but Disney blocked it from RUclips completely. She had to do a lot of extra editing to get the video to actually post, hence the delay in episode 1.
Hey Kim, love your content! I just wondered how you record the shows to react to as it comes up blank on OBS for me, I've tried Chrome, Firefox and nothing working :( x
Finally she watching this 🥳 let's gooo and I can't wait until she gets to the last episode but I won't spoil it because I'm not like other people or on RUclips

"There's always a bigger fish."
I love that my canada saved the Netherlands ❤.
My grand dad died doing this.
Can’t wait to see you watch the last 5 episodes of Obi wan Kenobi miniseries, eventually.
It takes place 10 years after Revenge Of The Sixth and 10 years before A New Hope.
2:08 Star Wars canon now: The Skywalkers hail from Ta-toon-knee! 😂 Love that name way better!!!
22:50 The thing I love about Reva's character is that she's a villain BUT she has the guidance of the Force. (In the Star Wars universe the Force is Fate and in any fictional story, Fate is the plot, yes, but when it's explained as being an intrinsic part of the nature of the universe we're viewing, I count that as good writing.) So, here we have a bad guy whose actions are guided by the fate of the plot _just like the good guys usually are_ and to me that makes her _terrifying._ (There are parts about this series where the writing could've been better, I agree there with the critics, but this particular point is one of my favourites.)
It also makes her character's controversy with her own allies that much more interesting.
Awesome analysis
Yes, this is the Planet that blows up.
29:16 Yes this is Alderaan, the planet destroyed by the Death Star in IV.
Thank you for pointing out the horrible Leia chase. LOL
he's not hiding his meat stealing very well. maybe he's taking what he's owed. ???
The "Anakin" is strong with this boy.
15:11 "Playing Hayden Seek" ! 😏
Because Mace wouldn't be able to touch him
You should definitely watch Rogue One after this. It's really good.😊😊😊
Andor first would be even better
@@gegeleducactually, yeah 😮
Yes true
The planet shown is Alderaan, the planet destroyed in A New Hope.
Thank you, Kim! 🏔
Fantastic can’t wait for you to see the rest
You should watch The Clone Wars. It's the best Star wars show. I'm sure you'll like it. Thanks for the reaction btw.
*in chronological order
I agree with your comparison of the Empire to that of Nazi Germany. Just amp it up to a thousand and you'd understand how brutal the Empire really is.
Goede reactie !
Omg so many wow in this one
The guy that kidnapped Leia is Flea from The Red Hot Chili Peppers, and you are right that was the planet that was destroyed
Kim, i like your editing style
9:35 "Oooh, he let him go. Interesting choice. Why would he do that?"
He wouldn't.
I guess we have no choice but to stand still and watch our enemy run away."
I wish I was wrong.
But given what they do to this same Jedi in about 30 minutes from now, it's obvious they didn't want to "let him go".
And given that these writers do the same thing when bounty hunters chase tiny Leia, when Kenobi chases tiny Leia, when Reva chases Kenobi, when Vader chases Kenobi, etc., this is the beginning of the pattern of "I stand there and watch my enemy escape because I'm powerless deal with a trivial obstacle."
It's the worst kind of writing and these writers do it over and over and over.
Personally...I'd LOVE if you reacted to Andor...before Rogue One. It's my favorite SW content to date. Phenomenal stuff!
Definitely hoping you're able to get an editor soon. From what I've seen of other content creators I watch like you it is EXTREMELY helpful obviously and you definitely deserve it. This show is gonna be fun for you I can tell. Have a good one! 👏❤️
She'll need a clone army of her own, then. She likes editing 😛
You should watch Andor and after that Rogue One. Only two things which came out of Disney which were good.
Leia was, to me, the strongest. No wonder Yoda wanted to teach her insted of Luke. ("He's our last hope.... no, there is another")
Glad you're watching this. I had just enough grace to get through it the first time and forgive the atrocious writing and plot. Now I'm mostly just annoyed that they didn't spend five more minutes thinking of a better story and character development, but there's definitely enough nostalgia to make it a fun watch if you're not as worried about that stuff.
Relax, Jackknife... many of us thoroughly enjoyed it all.
I thought that after the six Star Wars episodes you will watch 7, 8, and 9 too. It would be fantastic! But hello, the Obi-Wan series are also fantastic.. :)
Please tell me i didn't have to wait another month to see your reaction to episode 2 your just so awesome with your reactions i can't wait
She had the episode ready some time ago, but Disney blocked it from RUclips completely. She had to do a lot of extra editing to get the video to actually post, hence the delay in episode 1.
You should ABSOLUTELY watch Rogue One, best film on Star Wars made by Disney, the rest is pretty crappy.
I love your Star Wars reactions and theories. ❤
Hey Kim, love your content! I just wondered how you record the shows to react to as it comes up blank on OBS for me, I've tried Chrome, Firefox and nothing working :( x
I don't know why people are always shocked and bothered that adults aren't sprinting full speed at a 10yr old in a fake chase scene
fun fact - the planet(Alderaan) where we see Liea will be destroyed by death star in a new hope by Liea
Tatooney!! 🤣
Eye makeup is fire.
Once you're finished with Kenobi, Rogue One should be the next thing you watch.
Enjoying your exitement at watching this franchise!! Cant wait for Rogue One!!!!
Finally she watching this 🥳 let's gooo and I can't wait until she gets to the last episode but I won't spoil it because I'm not like other people or on RUclips
Yes, this planet, Alderaan was destroyed by the first Death Star in Star Wars A New Hope
Most people react to that chase. Never noticed it as bad, so used to having to look past horrible fight scenes in movies. For me this is just another scene like that.
