My local games shop is starting to add way more game tables and expand. They are looking for more and more GMs to run games. I'm hoping to be that GM that runs non D&D games and show people that there is more to TTRPGS than just D&D.

For those who like some of what they’ve seen here but are put off by some of Mork Borg’s design and trappings, I highly recommend checking out Death in Space from Free League. It uses a more fleshed out version of Mork Borg’s system, it’s layout is actually readable without a bunch of low effort photoshop art, and its tone and setting is less “edgelord grimfuck” and more of a traditional high sci-fi.

It has a card deck of 12 head/12torso/12legs monster cards. Freaking genius IMO. Im currently letting the players all draw one card and using them that way for boss fights. The adventure is ok, but the cards are genius. They can be found on drive-thru as well fairly cheap. The cards have some stats in MORK BORG but you could use them in any game. They are called "The Endless Demon Deck" and by my math that is 1,728 random boss fights.

    How to make Mork Borg:
Step 1: make a one page RPG
Step 2: take contents of said RPG and spread it out over 70ish pages.
Step 3: add in a bunch of shitty “art”
Step 4: make the layout unreadable
Step 5: charge $50 for it
    Step 5: profit

Brutal but I will leave it up. Some people--many in fact--agree with you. I personally dig it.

"Swedish Death Metal"??? Hang on... I know a bit about this... But, those are just words that you just said. Is that Swedish Death Metal? Did I miss something? I'm Swedish... What really is Swedish Death Metal in your ear?

I don't know what it is with games that use the Mork Borg style but I can never retain any of the information in the books. I love the art and presentation but I think it sets off my dyslexia and my brain rejects the information presented.

As far as the Borg books go, this one is probably my least favorite so far. Not to say it's bad, as it's not. The Mork Borg system is fast and fun. However, if I'm going to go with horror/sci-fi, my choice is going to go with Death In Space. These Mork Borg books are always a visual treat, layout-wise, but Vast Grimm is easily the weakest, both in terms of readability and how interesting the layout is. The grimm are interesting, but since anyone or anything can be infected (and getting infected yourself can be devastating) it leads to lots of player paranoia where they don't want to interact with anything, or just kill everything on sight. I think Vast Grimm can be fun in the right hands or with the right player mindset, but if I'm going to take a Borg book out I'm going to reach for Cy_Borg or Pirate Borg.

I thought Mork Borg was supposed to be doom metal? Or was that just Ultraviolet Grasslands? SotDL seems more Swedish death to me.
The only thing more obsessive and irritating than a gamer nerd is a metal nerd.

Sorry I could not find a way to email you directly. Is there a way I can send you a few documents (word for windows) that I worked on for 2 hours using chatgpt? I think this is a tool you should look at. I was #$%^%# amazed at the content I was able to generate using this AI... SO FREAKING FAST and so good with only a little of my own human editing needed. I generated 10 secrets(ala lazy DM), room descriptions, encounters, Traps and Puzzles that are fully described with complete descriptions on how they can be solved and disarmed, AND story twists! More than ten complete rooms AND ALL CONTENT NEEDED for A wizard's tower quest in only two hours of work. No it did not just spit out tons of content for me as I drank beer and copy paste txt. I had to use my imagination to instruct it to do its things like asking "please list items I could find in a medieval art room that belongs to a wizard who's wife died because the wizard failed to protect her"... So it is still MY creativity and MY narative. Think of it as a generator like you like to use all the time already but instead of hand written tables it is a digital tool. Anyway AI stories are hot right now so this stuff could be be clicks for your channel at least for a discussion. ;)
