This guy is so underrated. This is breathtaking stuff.
Underrated music isn’t it. Classic ❤
Absolutely
The feeling of finding someone you can love forever. But sadness of missing them and nostaligia of being under the tree, I'm grateful.
This is my song of the decade, and maybe beyond.
I'm re- living MTV 120 minutes all over again.
This song feels new, but it also feels like I've known it my whole life
I only just read this comment, but you basically summed up exactly how I feel about this song :). Soooo good!
I know :::cry:::
Which one?
@@Janita-Pt kangaroo by mortal coil
It borrows heavily from New Order
I'm so glad I found this song, I could only remember a couple words, I googled it and it brought me here
“I could only remember a few words” - wait! That’s every Dan Bejar song!
“I was a dreamer,
Watch me leave...”
Love this song and the guitar work during the above refrain reminds me of the incredible guitar work by the Cocteau Twins. That amazing ethereal “twang”. Awesome. This is what GOOD music sounds like.
Reminiscent the bass tone and lines of The Cure and Sisters of Mercy.
Nice catch ^_^
I had forgotten the fact that Pop can be this. Relentless. Never ending simple basses. Vague references to the self. The nothingness. i was a dreamer. LEFT!
I've fallen in love with this song.
agutterfan right!?
Wow...Lou Reed and New Order love child.
LOL
Great results, btw.
accurate
I have huge vibes of Birthday by The Sugarcubes too.
I'm older. I've got huge vibes of Boys Next Door "Shivers" just sped up a bit.
Still find myself coming back to this. A mix of Joy Division, New Order with vocals sounding like Lou Reed. 🤌🏼🤌🏼
La primera vez q escuché a Depeche Mode y a New Order hace 20 años cambiaron mi vida respecto a la música. Esta canción y Destroyer en general hacen que vuelva a sentir lo mismo. Q buena canción

who loves Dan Bejar as much as I do?
me
Me too
I love this riff and the lyrics. The horn suddenly appears and it the melody is complete.
Sounds like New Order with just a hint of OMD. Lovely song!
Exactly. The Hooky bass with Moby on vocals.
No.
Yes it does sound like New Order. The stylings are straight off New Order's first album Movement.
Lyrics
Tinseltown swimming in blood
Tinsel ribbons dancing in the rain
Flowers on the skyline, hey how was the wine?
What comes round's going round again
Towers coming up for air
I couldn't see, I was blind
Off in the corner, doing poet's work
That's alright for now
It was just a dream of your blue eyes
I couldn't see, I was blind
Off in the corner, doing poet's work
That's alright for now
It was just a dream of your blue eyes
Tinseltown dripping in blood
Tinsel women dancing in the wind
Dead flowers on the skyline
Hey how was the wine, baby?
What comes round is going round again
Now let me tell you about the dream
I had no feeling, I had no past
I was the arctic, I was the vast
Spaces without reprieve
I was a dreamer, watch me leave
I was a dreamer, watch me leave
I was a dreamer, watch me leave
I was a dreamer, watch me leave
I was a dreamer, watch me leave
I was a dreamer, watch me leave
❤
Cool Music! greetings from La Oroya Perú.

This beautiful song , combined with the video of Vancouver’s La Jetee-ish “Tinseltown” is a delicious smorgasbord of painful nostalgia. Strangely familiar déjà vu. Thank you, Destroyer.
I love, love, love this song!!
Always looking for good music brings me back to my youth, now I'm there! Perfect harmony, perfect sound. Gracias.!
I feel like this song's message is pretty esoteric
the tower, the world (whats comes round again), the lovers, the star
Los Joy Division del siglo XXI.
Brillantes.
Cada disco es distinto y mejor.

Thank you for this 😊🙌🏻
best song of 2018 for me (so far)
'your first love's new order'
Hackjaw what do you mean?
The song sounds like New Order and he's quoting a Destroyer lyric.
Definitely hearing some Age of Consent in there.
And all of a sudden I realized that it was Marker's "La Jetée". Well done, Karen Zolo and Dan Bejar. By the way, Savage Night at the Opera is such a great nod to "C'était Un Rendez-Vous".
Oh ok, I had a feeling this video was referencing something, that it was a bit too random to just be a music video. I looked up the movie you’re talking about, looks very interesting, I’m gonna watch it now.👍👍🙏
How did it take music videos 37 years to just do a straight up remake of this film. Well done!!!
It didn´t: Sigue SIgue Sputnik (of all bands!) did it in the late 1980´s with their video of Dancerama! They had a slightly bigger budget, but not the song to back it up:
ruclips.net/video/KIaUTR3YsGo/видео.html
What’s the film?
For real - what's the film?
Well, it was "remade" as a music promo video by non other band than Sigue Sigue Sputnik in 1988 (it comes with the warning: Danger! Art Video follows")
Dancerama by Sigue Sigue Sputnik: ruclips.net/video/o86b_V-OXt4/видео.html
To those asking about the source: The film is La Jetée by Chris Marker. A science-fiction short film form 1962.
The film is remarkable for many reasons: It´s made entirely of b/w still photography (except for one scene) and it was remade by Terry Gilliam as Twelve Monkeys.
Wow… this is beautiful
its different colorless photo shots ,the instruments, and the lyrics its all good to me .nice song i like it.
Your favourite artist favourite artist 😊
New Order/Joy Division influence. fucking love it.
Influence? It's a blatant rip off.
rip off? of which song? Believe it or not, everyone is influenced and inspired by someone else...

The movie Kicking Blood brought me here! Thought this was a Joy Division or New Order song at first. Nice to discover this song/band!
Good job, Destroyer! is the best in this time
Para los compatriotas de Perú, el intro de esa canción me hizo recordad a una canción de Dolores Delirio - No ves el sol... Saludos Radio Doble Nueve.
gracias por el dato!, sin querer, un buen hallazgo.
That trumpet cuts through every other noise on Earth, and puts me at ease, so unbelievably magical. I've heard it before in an ltj bukem track years ago. What is the original source?
This song is the original source. They don’t sample. You probably just heard something similar
I feel like I've heard it too. It seems that I've heard it in some animation video but don't know where... It hurts so much to not find it
@@lainisourgod I came to this song after listening to Circles by Post Malone, for some reason the opening of that song sounds a lot like this one to me. Maybe that's why you think you've heard it before?
@@AdrianCuyubambaDiaz no they are talking about the Trumpet that it sounds like a melody they have heard before.
My homie found the song Kaputt I heard it , loved it and Now I keep finding more and more of destroyers Gems 💎 one of my favorite bands now . Thanks guys !
I couldn't see/ i was blind / off in the corner doing poet's work / that's all right for now
SO GOOD
Our last concert before Covid killed live music. Really enjoyed the show.
Those drums.
Can a song be more worthy of obsession than this one?
Grandios! Musik und Video! I love this song!
What a phenomenal video! I hope it has won some award. In my head it has. I know it does an homage to La Jetee. Wonderful abstractness and timelessness.
Linda canción!
Excelente!
Inolvidable!
Sweet tribute to Le Jete
It’s sounds like David Bowie and Brian molko from placebo ! No disrespect I just found out about this band , and that’s what it reminded me of
.
Beautiful song & video!
This song is top notch . 👌
La mejor radio la mejor, grandes momentos y los rankings locazos, tal vez un resurrection sunday grandioso
Wow this song is like Destroyer's Kaputt and Damien Jurado's A.M AM put together and it's fucking incredible

One I first heard this song on the radio, I thought it was Gary Numan at first. Great song!
PERFECT
Excelent music!!!! Oroya city present !
I love this song
Chill music.☺️😊
Cool music.. La jetee style.
Esta cancion me trae recuerdos de una vida muy diferente para mi. Pienso, como todo puede cambiar en cinco años y los seres que amabas ya no esten contigo.
I love this song and, perhaps unique in Destoyer songs, there is an odd time signature thing happening during the "off in the corner doing poet's work.." how is that counted? I'm not much of a musician, so I am a little mystified by which measures are which.
My best guess is that it's switching between 4/4 and 7/8. So going from 1:06 to 1:22, we've got
3 measures of 4/4
1 measure of 7/8
1 measure of 4/4
1 measure of 7/8
2 measures of 4/4
I love this song!
Great as allways!
Kaput style...
Amazing work
Wondeefull!!!!
