    Jeff, you did an amazing job with this. The most profound and deepest topics on RUclips sometimes barely have any views or attention. You, my friend, are spot on with how you’re helping shift the collective consciousness of the planet by helping Aldo’s wisdom live on. Bravo my friend

      Yep, i totally agree. Jeff, you and your interviewees do a great job of bringing to life the stages of Aldo Leopold's life and how it culminated in the land ethic. Super interesting, thank you!

    "Wild things, I admit, had little human value until mechanization assured us of a good breakfast, and until science disclosed the drama of where they came from and how they live. The whole conflict thus boils down to a question of degree. We of the minority see a law of diminishing returns in progress; our opponents do not" - Aldo Leopold.
    A great man, indeed.

    My first day at the College of Environmental Science and Forestry, Dr. Van Giess suggested we all read " The Sand County Almanac". This was a wonderful contribution to that. Thank You.

    Thanks for this information. I don’t think I ever heard or read about Mr Leopold prior to watching your interesting video. I plan to study Mr Leopold and his ideas further.

    This is excellent. I’m about to camp with friends in the Aldo Leopold Wilderness for the first time next week, and this background on the man for whom it’s named will add meaning to my experience.

    Excellent presentation of the naturalists and nature writers. I enjoyed the in-depth interviews with people that knew or studied Aldo Leopold's work and life. Please continue to make video essays. May I also suggest adventurers like the mountain men Jim Bridger, Kit Carson, and possibly the early Spanish explorers like Coronado, Balboa, de Anza, Father Kino, etc.
    The greatest gift I had ever received for my birthday was A Sand County Almanac. It changed my life...

      Sorry for the long delay. I took some time off from video production to write a book. I just released a new episode on Howard Zahniser. More to come. Thank you for your support.

    I didn't think Leopold had learned that Sand County Almanac was accepted to be published before he died ... guy in this states to the contrary.....

    • @JeffreyRyanAuthor
      @JeffreyRyanAuthor  2 года назад +2

      According to the University of Wisconsin, he just learned that his book would be published.
      "On April 14, 1948, Oxford University Press informed Leopold that it wished to publish his manuscript. One week later, Leopold suffered a fatal heart attack while fighting a grass fire that had escaped from a neighbor’s farm near the shack."
      (grow.cals.wisc.edu/deprecated/five-things/five-things-everyone-should-know-about-a-sand-county-almanac)
      Because the timing was so proximate, it is understandable that there has been confusion about the timing.
      Thank you for weighing in.
