Fruits basket is a romance and drama but it does have very emotional moments. The last opening wasn’t the real verison, it was the correct song but the visuals were scenes from the show
This is the most human anime that i know of and it encompasses every single aspect of that word. Interpersonal relationships, personal growth, ALL the emotions, societal/family structures, broken souls, healing friendships etc. It WILL make you experience all of the emotions and you'll be grateful for it once the ride is over. I can't recommend this enough (the 2019 remake that is since it adapts the full original story) and hope you end up watching it at some point.
Unfortunately it doesn't adapt the whole story, there's at least one volume of content missing maybe two which is a shame, but its still a great adaptation.

Yeah, the opening only scratch the surface of what the story is really about. Furuba is basically a slice of life anime about teenagers trying to overcome trauma about abusive family and grief, while still having this big sense of hope for the future. Romance is part of it but it's only in the latestest part that it plays a huge role in the story. First, the characters heal and trust each other. It also has a lot of comedy that doesn't shadow the darker stuff. I can only highly recommand you to watch it (maybe with some reactions) and also to look out the endings. They're amazing too. My favorite one is probably opening 1, with its melancolic feel, while opening 2 was the beggining of what was not adpated in the first 2001 version, my favorite part of the story. Did you know summer beach arc can be awfully dramatic when you put your heart in it ? Oh, and also, you should check the opening for the 2001 version, it's another feel to it :)

This is one of those cute silly shows." then when you get into the meat of it, you'll be like "Oh. Oh, this is GOOD." Also, Tohru Honda is the purest female protagonist. This story is about a homeless girl finding cursed and unhappy beings and helping all of them finally become happy.
A girl comes across a Japanese family that has a curse that spans the generations. It has many different interpersonal relationships and how to grow past the hurt and heal. You really need to watch this to really understand the story. It’s very hard to explain without giving away to much. I can say it involves the Chinese Zodiac plus one. So your comment of growing up is very much accurate.
This show would definitely brake your heart if you watch it but also make you feel hopeful. And i think thats what fruba is about. Its a show that shows that everyone have their imperfections and were or are broken but we can always be better. As long as you alive you can always work your issues, it won't be easy and even if you have become a better person you won't always be forgiven for your past action but you can change. In general this show talks about almost any aspect of life, and even though it have a magical element the characters are thr most realistic i have ever seen in an anime. This is my favourite show and i highly recommend watching it.

I watched it when the first version came out when I was about 14 and it had such an important influence on my life, making me decide the type of person I wanted to be and strive to be (up to this day). It’s a comedic drama shoujo that will pull at your heartstrings, full of lessons about how to deal with trauma and how to encourage self love and kindness to others. Would love to see you reacting to it because I know for sure you will enjoy it and will be completely different from what you have covered so far :) really really recommend it

This is hands down one of my favourite animes. It's sickly sweet with a hidden darkness that stays with you. It's very real and relatable but in the most twisted of ways. It's one to watch for sure
The content in the last video you watched was taken from the whole series and a little bit from the movie. Yeah, the final season is a lot emotionally but the show builds up to it. It's a very sad story but I love it a lot.

Fruits Basket is really about abuse, neglect, loss, depression, suicide, and more. But the real message of the story is about growth. It's about overcoming all of that for a happy future and a better you. And of course it's about growing up since most of the characters are teenagers. And it's all told through a family curse. It's a romance, it's a drama, it's a coming-of-age story with a sprinkling of comedy. And by far one of the best animes out there. But it's slightly obscure because it's a shoujo, aka a "girls anime". So it doesn't get anywhere near the recognition it deserves

My first ever manga and anime, I think I was in middle school! I love the story line and the character developments through the whole cast! The remake of 2019 is totally wonderful and would recommend that for your list! Good change up from the intense anime like AOT lol

I am a massive fan! This anime isn't really a romance, it's about trauma. Everyone has deep and complicated feelings from trauma, and the story is about how they deal with it. There's a gimick but IMO that's just a metaphor. This anime will rip out your soul, fold it into origami, and hand it back to you.

I didn't see the reboot, but what I remember of the original was very popular with the girls, and it involved a curse on a powerful Japanese family, the Chinese zodiac, and drama (both whimsical and serious) and romance, as others have said. It was definitely an interesting setup.
You should watch the 2019 version. It’s a masterpiece and is much less forced comedy than the first anime was. It still has funny moments but the show doesn’t force them in when they shouldn’t be there
omg omg omg omg omg omg So i paused after the first song to spazz so forgive me if u learned this already This anime _is old_ well the original came out in 2001!! and had an anime only ending so only the manga readers knew the entire story but then in 2019 Furuba got the Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood treatment and was given a reboot? a remake?? idk either way it followed the manga far more closely and us anime onlies got to experience a taste of what's in the manga I'm sure someone else has explained the plot of this anime without spoiling it cuz i can't figure out how sorry XD
