Love seeing this video. Love French Cleats. They are awesome. I had a 60" flat screen I wanted to mount on the wall. Best Buy had a metal mount for $100. Forget that. I ripped a board in half with 45 angles. One board on the wall, one on the back of the television. $5.
I've been using the French cleat system in my shop for awhile, but never even gave it a thought for my closets. Thanks for bringing this up as a build method.
Once again, you’ve come up with a very practical, affordable, and above all straightforward design for us average woodworkers. Thank you! My circular saw and I will be busy
This is EXACTLY what I needed to find for my daughter's closet! She drew the layout she wanted and I said I would figure out how to build it.... that was 8 months ago. THANK YOU!
This is the best… I’ve got crawl space access in my closet so most diy closet systems were out for the simple fact that they rest on the ground. This clears up the ground allowing me access to the crawl space which would only be doable with expensive crappy closet systems. I was originally thinking this would be a great way to include drawers in my closet so thanks for the boost of confidence I’ll try this approach!
I just built a laundry room cabinet w/barn doors using your fridge/microwave barn door cabinet plans and was looking for an easier way of hanging it on the wall! You explained the French cleat method much easier than other DIY videos. Thx so much for this tutorial!
Wow Anna you just keep giving. I've heard of a French cleat before but never seen it applied. Now I know how to apply it. Thanks Anna, you are the best. God bless & have a wonderful day, Chris from Missouri
Hi Ana... Really clear instructional video! I love the French cleat except for the space it creates between shelf and wall. I am building a smaller version of your shelf tower, 48" high with four shelves (2 fixed) and two 31" top and bottom hanging rods attached on the right side. A long shelf on top will be secured to the unit with cleat support as well. Do you think traditional cleats can handle this weight or is it too much? Thanks for helping out this diy newbie!
I just can't thank you enough for all you teach us in such a simple manner. Have a blessed weekend.
My pleasure!
I love this! Perfect timing as I just closed on a house this week. DIY, here I come!!
Perfect!

Thanks for the visit!
Could you use a french cleat on kitchen cabinets as well, one on the top of the cabinet and one on the bottom of the cabinet as well?
very nice illove it😊❤
Thank you! 😊
love that!!!
So happy to hear that!
this is genius!
Thanks for watching!
thanks! i was looking something like this to make a temporary wall at office. this give me an idea to do it.
Nice!
I mark the studs and add one small screw through the top cleat to prevent 'bumping' it off the cleat. Still easy to remove (undo one screw)
Great tip!
I'm thinking of adding this above the mudroom bench I just started (from watching your other video 😀 )
I'd love to see that, sounds like a great idea!
Love it.
Thank you!

I hate that I was just in my closet, trying to figure out an plan for shelving and this pops up an hour later.
Maybe it’s a sign 😉 😂
I mean… that sounds pretty convenient, honestly.
Hola me gustaría saber la referencia modelo de la clavadora y la sierra circular ! Te quedo muy bonito como todo lo que haces ! Un saludo ❤
I use ryobi, check out this video ruclips.net/video/7rrz8rjq_uc/видео.html
Was the cleat only nailed to the shelving? Or did you pocket hole/screw it to the cleat off camera?
What grade plywood would you recommend?
I hate that this is so easy, I have no reason NOT to do it.
Lol, thanks for watching!
