As an old guitarist I love watching this young lady show off her wonderful guitar skill's if you pay attention she will teach you well. great video Toni.
At best, I was only ever a plunker on the guitar......so I am mesmerized at the poetry of Toni's finger movements across the frets. She makes it look so easy !
Always wanted to learn this song but never got it guite right. Now all of a sudden and without asking from one of my favorite quitarist... I can just say thank you!
I wouldn't know which end of a guitar to pick up but I got to spend a few minutes listening to Cardigan Tonsey play and teach. What more could you ask for?!! Toni's instructional videos remind me so much of the ones by Nancy Wilson, from I believe the 80's. Two very sweet, very talented musicians.
This is probably the hardest thing I've ever tried to learn, and I play in a Clapton tribute--which isn't that difficult of music, but it is if you're self-taught and don't know the blues! I'm about 3-4 hours in, over multiple days. I haven't finished the first 5 bars yet. Needed to work on something fingerstyle so I can get better at Tears in Heaven. Thank you so much for making this, it's ruining my life! You are the best.
Hey Toni! Thanks so much for taking the time to do another great post for us. I know that we all really appreciate it. Please keep them coming when you’re schedule pemits.
Really great lesson Toni, the breakdown and tips makes me want to attempt to play even though it means a lot of practice but this solo arrangement sounds so good. :-)
You are so talented and a great person who is willing to share your great knowledge of how to do things right. I can’t play the guitar and because of wonky little fingers, I am not going to figure out how to play without them. No doubt but I am not Django Reinhardt.
Thank you ! I’ll learn this. It would be too complicated for me to work out on my own., but with a bit of practice I should get this. Very cool. Thanks👍🤗
1000 thanks ! ! ! First I learned your easy version because I didn't know this song before. And now I have a great homework assignment. Perfect tutorial(s) by the way ! ! !
You are a great musician, dear Toni 🥰 Thanks for so much content you've shared with us. You inspires me to restart playing my guitar after 30 years. I just listen, learn and watch your Videos since a couple of months. It looks so easy going when moving your fingers on the strings 😄. Would like to ask you about your giutar, it seems its a smaller one, maybe easier to handle like my western giutar. Please can you give some information about it. Send many hugs over from Germany, and have an amazingly wonderful day, Julia 🤩
So awesome to hear that! And yeah, this one’s a smaller bodied guitar made by Luca Zerilli, 00 sized, and I have lighter gauge strings on it so I like to use it on stuff like this where there’s a lot of stretching going on. Plus I think it’s more balanced sounding between the bass and treble when I’m fingerpicking than some of the bigger bodies, as maybe you’ve noticed with your own guitar. Hope that helps and happy playing to you!
This is a fun arrangement (except for two wicked stretches for me), I worked this out a long time ago from a recording but this sounds a lot better. Difference between a hack and a very talented guitarist.
Definitely! It’s a really chord-y song, so even if you skip the fingerpicking altogether and just focus on learning all the shapes, you’re going to expand your chord knowledge in a big way. It’ll get more fun pretty quickly :)
@@AustinHammy32 all round talent wins every time . Complete musician . I have a favourite record , spoilt by the backing Chet puts on it , shame . Jerry reed is more interesting and the late Buster B Jones also agreed . Listen to " Guitar Heroes " But thanks for your reply
@@nigeleagle8654 talent does not win everytime. If it did than guitar gods like Guthrie Govan would be far more popular than try hards like John Mayer.
I want to learn the version you used on the cover you did with your partner (whatever her current name is) where you sometimes fingerpick and then strum during the vocals.
What would help someone who is new to fingerstyle is to have a () parenthesis showing a chord you would want to have fingered (ahead of time) or an empty paren when you are fretting notes that aren't really chord-based. I am in no way attempting to be critical to your extreme talent and generosity.

You are such an amazing player.
Finally a guitar player is doing this great song (and Randy Newman’s genius) justice by playing it right!
no he's not
How much I love to watch those fingers move!

This is great. You turned a complex song in to “simpler” sections with clear instructions without getting bogged down
What a talent!! You bring me joy! Thank you
Sound so light and beautiful!🎶
This is the kind of content that I pay my internet bill for. Thank you Toni! ❤️❤️❤️
Wow. You’re VERY good at this. I’ve learned so much from you. Thank you.
Thank you great job cheers from Ireland 🇮🇪 Brian take care
That's a beautiful arrangement. Much different than how I've learned it.

Making a vid like these has to be a little tedious. Lots of editing. But I don't think Tony does anything HA'd.
@@Jeff-jg7jh I agree! Ya gotta love her!
Waaaay beyond my capabilities, but wonderful to listen to! Thanks Toni!
A beautiful arrangement which captures all the sweet and sad Randy Newman chord structures. Thank you from England. XX
I actually learns something! Thanks Toni!!

Ver clear and helpful instruction. An excellent teacher!
Thank you so much!! Since I met you I learn so much about playing and singing at the same time - it is wonderfull, thank you so much, love, david
Toni you are a great great teacher. Thanks
You make a superb lesson and are an ongoing inspiration. Thank you for posting. Loved the artistry on your Roswell song rendition too!
Thanks Toni. Martin from the Emerald Isle 👍☘️
Wow, great little tricky techniques.
Thanks for the music and knowledge-dump, Toni!

Thanks for this tutorial ❤ I kinda wish you could've displayed the note durations as well - would've made it a lot easier ❤
You are awesome!! Just found you but it's sooo late I'll check out your other videos tomorrow.
Happy new year Toni ❤
Thanks Toni! Good lesson!

Tusen takk!!!
Thank you, Toni. Would you also do an instructional video for TipToe Through The Tulips that you did with Rachelle, please?
Toni, you are great! And just like me, you are the owner of a Fender Jaguar (one of my 22 guitars 🤪)
Awesome video Toni 😊👍👍
You studied classical guitar, yes?😊 I think you're amazing.
You are amazing!
Beautiful, thanks!
gold
Great lesson! 😎
you are a wonderful guitar player Toni. Thumbs up (nr 778) from Southern Germany
You're too much lovely and great Toni🌈☀️
Thanks!
Thanks for the generosity, John!
Great song, great lesson, great playing, ... what will we need more? Uhm ... much practising!

Thanks Tori, but please, hold your horses you are so much ahead of me!!
Awesome, cheers! Shouldn't 'Strum Chum' sessions perhaps be 'Fingerpick Sidekick' for fingerstyle though? 😆
Fantastic! But what’s a song to learn in between the super easy one and the super hard one…?! Thank you.
i love it !
It looks very fun to play. A lot of chords changes, do you recommend learning the chords before jumping into the finger picking ?
Not as fun as I had hoped, I'll try the easier chords version

such a sensitive musician and glorious player . Without question my favorite guitarist . Far ,far better than Chet Atkins in every respect

Where can I get the music for this? Idc if I have to pay, please take my money this is great (the link in the description just gave me an error)
Nice!!!!!👍
Takk!
The PDF with the tab won't load now! Wahhhh.
In the fourth bar is there a reason why you don't just bar the C E & G notes then the B D# & F#?
Do I see a great resemblence with the French song Au Champs Elysées???
E7/B tab is wrong in the beginning
What is that mystery small amp head on top of your speakers in the back?
UA OX Box (attenuator ++)
Can you tell me where to get the TAB. The link under the video doesn't work
What guitar is that btw?
