He believed in the soon return of Jesus so he and his followers were called Adventists. Those Adventists who continued to study after the Great Disappointment learned from the Bible through a Seventh Day Baptist woman about the Seventh-day Sabbath and accepted it along with other distinctive teachings like what happens in death. The real second coming, the prophetic gift, Health reform. The SDA Church was formally organized in 1863. Nevertheless, we believe that Miller was mightily used of God and praise God for his great work. He had some things to learn but God used and blessed greatly what he knew.

Yes, Sister Jill. Leviticus 16 and 23 are crucial since they are the pattern for the judgment--Yom Kippur. Elements of the judgment to be considered; afflicting of one's soul, humiliation, fasting (selfdenial). Confession and forgiveness of sins; putting away of sins. Sins forgiven and blotted out. Both the person and the Sanctuary must be cleansed. Psalms 77:13 does say, God's way is in the sanctuary. It could scarcely be any clearer.
