I will add to this that medication really helps with OCD. My quality of life went up so much just at the lowest dose. I wish I had started sooner. Life is short we don't need to live with those annoying thoughts. Aside from that cognitive behavioral therapy like what olivia mentions also helps a lot. On medication + cbt changed my life. My version of "tea" is "well it is what it is."

Thank you so much for your openness about mental health. As a person that struggles with PTSD, depression and anxiety disorder it is so refreshing to see someone with a platform speaking out and normalizing this. I am also in therapy and think everyone should have a therapist lol. The peace of mind that I brings is just amazing and For those that can’t, the exercises that you bring examples of in your video will do wonders for those that use them and kindness and sharing kindness is top notch… so thank you again.

Ive been struggling alot lately and hearing you talk to articulately about it was quite emotional for me. You are an inspiration (I'm currently doing my teacher training here in the uk because your passion and enthusiasm towards teaching and education in recent years gave me a little push to step out of my comfort zone and apply for the teacher training course!!) No because your mental health conversation is so important. As someone who has struggled it helps to hear you out and it’s so important to put it out there. Not everything works for everyone and it’s about finding what helps you. For me reading and meditation are the only things that help avoid the sticky thoughts as a form of maintenance for my brain before the anxiety.

  • @ja.ck.IE_Ma.kw09

Oh jeah. The loops. I have thought loops of so many different types.
I have "positive" ones, I'm happy while I think about them but I don't do anything else. For like hour's.
And "negative" ones, they make me sad and anxious. They stop me from everything as well and make me miserable.
A few weeks ago I started meditating, that helps with the angst and I sleep better.
I couldn't sleep well for like 9 months and now with the meditation I can sleep for hours in a row.
And it totally helps to hear your thoughts about your brain goblins.
It's like a self help group, people with the same hurdles have the best tips!! 🤍🤍

I’m living on Iced Vanilla Drive, please and thank you 😅 ALSO I admire you for talking about your mental health. It’s not easy to do! Especially with an audience on the internet. One thing that’s really helped me is viewing meditation with a wider lens. Like I have a huge dislike for “proper” meditation lol, but I’ve found doing puzzles to be a very mediative process, if that makes sense? I think finding things that calm your mind, even if they’re not the “ideal” method, is just about what works for you yanno? I’m sure some people hate puzzles hahah so I think viewing it as a trial and error process to find what works for you helps a lot. But I’m definitely no expert, otherwise we just wouldn’t have an issue hahah

When you said Einstein Bros I got whiplash memory because we don't have them in TN but we had one on campus at the University I went to and it was legendary for being busy but delicious.
Second you were talking about acknowledging thoughts with "Okay thank you" as a tool for anxiety. It's interesting you say that because I use that tactic with my dog (HEAR ME OUT) and myself. So, my dog is a 3x herding dog. She's a red heeler, Australian shep, and great Pyrenees mix. 3 times the herding dog, 3x the constant head on a swivel and alertness. She is ANXIOUS all the time because of her genetics and "needing" a job to do. So she barks a lot. Not aggressively, but as HEY MOM HEY LOOK AT THIS.
Nothing I did helped until I started saying calmly "Okay, Cassidy, I see it. Thank you. Thank you very much."
And honestly, it works. Every time. So this is a peak strategy because not only does it calm my anxiety, but also hers. I support this, support your talks on mental health, and support you. Hope you're having a good day and a better one tomorrow

Thank you for sharing your thoughts about thoughts. My daughter is 15 and struggles with intrusive thoughts and obsessive loops; I had her listen to your advice and it really resonated with her. I think it also helped her to see that she's not alone in this, and her brain cage has a trap door she can escape out of. ❤🙏❤

I had to cut out sugar a couple of years ago, including honey, which is what I used in my tea, and my husband got me into drinking really good black coffee. I can't go back to starbucks unless I want something fluffy or like a chai or something. Once you get on the at home coffee game there's no going back lol

I’ve always felt that words are really powerful and we never know which ones will affect others so i only talk talk about positive things because there’s already a lot of negativity in my life and I don’t need more. I wanna spread positive vibes. That’s how I handle my mental health as I easily fall back in my dark place even with a hint of a reminder of my trigger

Thank you so much for being vulnerable with your therapy/mental health journey!! I just very recently started therapy (1 month in) and am learning how to deal with those intrusive thoughts. Thank you for the tips and opening up with us! It doesn’t feel so daunting when you know other people are going through similar things and working through them, love your videos 💛

YES I also use “sticky” as the metaphor for my intrusive thoughts!! I’ve never heard anyone else is that metaphor. It’s more of a mind state than the thoughts themselves. When it’s the worst I tell my partner that it’s like I’m covered in syrup and literally anything that is said to me can stick and become an issue. Even things that seem innocent become horrible evidence of some sort of thought loop. The workbook Get Out of Your Mind and Into Your Life is helpful for me-it’s based off acceptance and commitment therapy.

I am so grateful that you decided to leave that clip in. It was so comforting to hear some else who is also going through mental health struggles and learning about their anxiety. I am too still coming to terms and understandings about my own anxiety. I always look forward to your videos.
I am not a coffee girly 🙈 but I would be on the hot chocolate lane or the tea pot village 😊❤
