So cancelling Cup of China and offering another country to host it isn't alarming or worrying if we look at the overall picture.
I think cancelling smaller competitions because of traveling issues is different. they're investing billions of dollars into the Olympics, and it's in Beijing where there are way more travel options
People ever counting out Alysia Liu as a flop just for growing into her body is humiliating. Absolutely loving getting to watch her develop and support her on her journey
no people are counting her as a flop because many people pointed out at the 2019 us nationals that her technique is very flimsy and most likely wont work after her body develops. They also asked US figure skating not to brand her as a the prodigy and US skating ace because if she doesn't survive puberty and doesn't fulfill those expectations it can be very damaging to her and would send a lot of hate towards her. I'm sure that the Cup of China is being canceled because China doesn't care enough about figure skating in order to host it. Besides Sui/Cong in pairs, there're no Chinese singles skater or ice dance couples that have a chance of medalling at the Cup. On the other hand, China could bag the most amount of medals at the Winter Olympics due to Chinese athletes having extra time/access to the Olympic facilities. Come hell or high water, China is going to host it on time. Also, (please don't come from me because I am of Chinese descent) but you can get away with a lot more when you're an authoritarian government. If you need to construct 20 temp housing buildings in a span of a month, you don't need to need to go through the process of informing and properly compensating people (they didn't do in 2008 and that was a larger affair). The Japanese government had to answer to the protests and growing concerns from the Japanese public over the 2020 Olympics. Sidenote: I'm really excited to see Karen Chen's Butterfly Lovers' program at the Olympics. Part of it was filmed for On Ice Perspectives youtube channel and it's gorgeous.
Hihi just to explain a bit more about cancellation, China has very strict quarantine rules for those coming into the country (14~28 days indoor) and it will be a big issue for athletes who won't have any access to training premises and equipment. Beijing would probably be prepared by then (hopefully) with a whole new set of plans to keep everyone save while holding the events well but Chongqing (where Cup of China is supposed to be held) probably wont be prepared, especially with the surging cases across the country :D

@@serenalizinnqui8474 if you believe it you can achieve it.
@@BillyWhaler I don't believe it tho. 😂 Maybe she does, but she hides it pretty well.
@@serenalizinnqui8474 fact check: AAA have peaked. Rika and Ensoo Lim stalled out. US ladies not a big threat. Not sure Canada still has or team or will be interested in going to China. Zag 🥇
@@BillyWhaler We will see. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Maybe she will surprise me.
For me, USA ladies will be Tennell, K. Chen and A. Shin. N I love Donavan, he is a young J. Fernandez.
Isadora WD because she got injured in the middle of her long program
I really love that you support Donovan, it's a mexican hope
Donovan is very popular in the world fandom and it's why you can see him skate in galas after competitions 😊
But I'm still terrified cuz Yuzuru Hanyu is injured...
HELLO ILY
How as a figure skating commentator do you not follow mens? I mean? I also love that you posted the pic of Dave with her. I'm not a fan of her, but interesting that she showed up. lol.
Countries may boycott Beijing. So it's plausible no 2022 winter Olympics !
OH?!?!
Amber can be your North American love of your life while Zhenya is the Russian love of your life
The aespa reference 😭
Nobody likes amber glenn though
Olympics are not in danger. China is just not Russia and does not want covid outbreak over insignificant competition.
