Actually if you noticed, there's 308 in the sewer level, and 304 + 50 in the manor, and 220 + 60 in the carnival level, so the soul shards amount will not increase every level

And since the 10th portal is currently unknown, (along with Bierce saying "One down, 8 to go" which added together is 9) Of course, the portal could be for anyone. Probably, the 10th portal would be Malak with a possible final 11th portal being Bierce (it's a common trope where someone who uses you for an apparent good deed is actually the main villain and not the one you assume to be). We'll just have to wait and see.
Nah I doubt the mannequins will only move when you look at them for to long, since it's just opposite copycating of the gold watchers, and all the nightmares are supposed to have their own unique AI, so I think they will only move when you move, like a "copycat the player" type of AI

I sorta wish for a level filled with parasites. People have phobias can be scared of parasites and tiny bugs that you can't see with a blank human eye. Here is what I want. Map: A broken facility with green glass tubes holding alien xenomorph creations. 1- Mini areas that have a device showing you where the parasites are on the map. 2- A ability you can bring with you to see the parasites. 3- Ground worms as the traps/spikes. 4- Parasites crawling on the walls. 5- Spiders cracking the side walls to chase after you. The boss battle A giant mamma worm that spawns 3 parasites every minute There are tentacles around the walls. So it's best to stay around the middle. Going around the walls is risky. You hurt the mamma by grabbing tools and slapping her with it. Tools fall from the ceiling/roof when stuff come out. Some are range, Some are melee.

After you collect all soul shards you go back to the portal but malak is blocking it
Then you go back through each nighthare to do each escape sequence again to collect all ring peices again
When you get all ring piece malak gets mad
His Escape sequence is all the monsters from each chapter and malak will all attack you
