It made me laugh when you mentioned that about Kirstie. In an old behind the scenes when they were shooting outside, the videographer makes her take off her coat for the shoot. In between shots you can see Mitch holding her inside his coat to warm her up.

My favorite Pentatonix Christmas song is one that they sang once and once only, while visiting Japan in 2014 or 15. It was called, "Christmas Eve," and was said to have been written by a famous song writer in Japan. What is SO cool is the amazing blending of a jazzy, blue notes on top of a fabulous European musical set. I don't know why they never sang it again, but you get to review it without distractions because it is NOT a PTX official song. Please go check it out. It is AMAZING!

I still think this is the most beautiful, best song they have ever done. They all sang so well, especially Mitch and Scott. I agree that Kevin's beatboxing was so well done also. Arsene, I thought I might be the only person with that opinion. I Saw Three Ships was also magnificent on that i Heart concert. Therei is just something so true to their skills when they sing live and their special energy and connection comes through.
I love hearing how much all their voices have matured since they started. Not sure they could have pulled this off this well even 3-4 years earlier. Also, that descant from Mitch broke my freaking brain all over again. You would think I'd be used to it by now. 😂

I know nothing about music at that level, but I recognize those chords from my childhood in the Catholic church. You're also the first I've seen mention that masking transition from Kirsten to Mitch. It's a bit of a surprise because you're led to expect Kirsten to start the song, but there's Mitch and his spectacular voice appearing on the other side of the tree to carry the song!

Saw them in concert about 2 weeks after the HF concert. The prayer is just as stunning live. Evergreen is my favorite, they got a little emotional at the concert, because Kirstie, Mitch and Scott’s mothers were in the audience. Great reaction, I always learn something with your reactions.

Just a little clarification, when you were talking about a plagal “chord“ I think you meant to say plagal cadence. The plagal cadence is where the subdominant chord resolves to the tonic sometimes referred to as the amen cadence.
I LOVE Mitch, but I'd have to say Scott is the most versatile (probably the best). His chest voice is AMAZING here. He can sing bass when Matt does other vocals. I mean, they're all fantastic, but Scott is definitely the most versatile.
I agree. We Pentaholics know that they all have wonderful voices and when you put them together you get magic. Mitch is a once in a generation counter tenor. I support people who don't necessarily like his voice but I tend to agree with the other four members of Pentatonix. When asked who was the best singer, they all said Mitch and have said so many times. The tone of Mitch's voice is amazingly clear. The biggest difference to me, is that Mitch enunciates clearly. He sticks his consonants. He finishes every word. Scott tends to slur his words which I think gives his vocals a lot of flavor/color which I appreciate but far prefer the clearness of Mitch's voice. Mitch suffered a lot as a child. He was bullied relentlessly. He managed to come out of it a genuinely kind and gentle person. Even on The Sing Off they discouraged him from singing any leads or verses on his own. It wasn't until the end of the competition when singing The Dog Days Are Over, that he was allowed to shine and he got a remarkable response. I will always be angry about that. After their win, when they started their You Tube channel, they tried to feature Mitch a lot so that he would get the recognition they felt he deserved. When they won their first Grammy, Kirsten said that they were most happy for Mitch because it proved what they had always known about him. I think they are all spectacular and I bless the day the Lord brought them all together so that I could hear them. Mitch is simply special.

The Prayer because Mitch sounds like an angel and Scott sings in Italian for a section in a lower voice/register.
