I'm becoming a bigger fan of your channel and it's taken me a number of your videos to understand why. I enjoy the overall simplicity of it all. To me it represents what a camping trip should be. The experience should help find a little peace and be enjoyable. So many other channels are all about the setting up a bunch of gear, overly complex cooking gadgets, expensive sleeping set ups, etc. It's fun to see the solutions you have come up with and how you use the space in your 4runner. Great job and keep the videos coming.
Those looked like weasels - they tend to travel in family units, unlike cats. Maybe you can ask the park ranger what they might have been and tell us -- or we will never know 😒. Gunther is just too cute for words 🥰.
The mystery critters look just like very young cats, to me. Probably older kittens. The use of the tree as a scratching post and all. I'm months behind on my RUclipss watching because life, but thanks for another fun video!
Life does happen -- welcome back! Considering how remote the area is, that would be surprising, but possible! I am leaning toward weasels, which can also be quite playful.
I can't even tell you what my favorite part of this video is, there is so much good stuff packed into this short time.. I think from the beginning You just had the mellow shrooms vibe going on during the camping trip 🍄 I love how you continually adapt your vehicle to accommodate your needs, the journey of this is fascinating. Do you ever just chill with your cocktail to music, it would be fun to know what type of music Gunther likes I can't tell you how happy I was that you ended with Pee Wee Herman. He is/was Brilliant! Most of all I love seeing in every video how much you and Gunther are Soul Mates, I remember in the beginning when there were issues, and Gunther's adoption became difficult. I hope the adoption agency knows what a good match they made.
I don't think they're aware of his life now, but I am grateful for every day I share with him! When I'm relaxing, I typically just listen to nature. But if there's too much human noise or if I get bored, I typically listen to podcasts. I sometimes listen to music when I'm packing up or cooking breakfast. In those cases, it's usually 70s soft rock or one of my playlists of chill indie artists. When I'm driving, it's drum and bass. Gunther probably hates that. 🤣
Gunther in his raincoat made my night! So glad to see y'all on an adventure. I was wondering how a Risotto with the dried mushrooms in your little cooker would work? Maybe with a little veggie broth, dry white wine and Pecorino cheese tossed in? Or a White Bean Tomato Mushroom Soup? I must be hungry LOLOL... Looking forward to Part 2! 🍄🍄🍄
Sounds delicious! It's the stirring required of risotto that gives me pause. I have been wanting to do just a plain white rice test though. And yes, bean soupppppp
@@ShoestringMarthaWhite rice is my fav, but wasn’t sure the kettle could function as a rice cooker (although I suppose risotto is technically rice) I was just thinking it had a more starchy creamy texture…more soupy. But yes. If you don’t stir it…it could come out as more of a pilaf. Which I like too. 😂😂🤷🏻♀️ Alas, Mushroom Pilaf 🙌🏻🍚🍄 However, I found an easy “no stir” Mushroom Risotto, using Carnaroli rice that could work in the kettle. But I think you have to stir it about twice. Heck maybe just Bean Soup😂😂🫘🫛🍄🍄
Great video. Your mystery animals were most definitely 2 little cats. Your so funny, I really love your videos. Gunther is so darn cute. Thanks for sharing part of your life with us.
Made myself a cuppa matcha latte and enjoyed your video. I save them for when I can watch in full with no interruptions. This was fun. Looking forward to the shroom foray. Thanks Kori!
My best guess on the trio would be big stoat/long-tailed weasel. Very cool to see the elk. Loving the evolution of your set up. Very functional. I am looking at a Highlander Hybrid for camping, so it is very cool to see your ideas. Everything is better with Tajin!!🖤🖤
As always, its a great video. Someone posted a review on one of my favorite camping spots and mentioned the abundance of mushrooms in the area. No joy camping there anymore. Once the spot hit the radar, its been over run with people. Stay safe.
Yikes! It increased this year, but the AMS membership was $15/yr for the whole fam, and includes the forays. I should have renewed. It’s been a rainy year, and mushrooms are POPPIN’.
note to self: don't forget binoculars to increase wildlife viewing...And I'm sorry but Gunther in a raincoat? Adorable! I also had to interrupt my viewing almost immediately to discover that there is a Mushroom Hunters Club here in Michigan. Note to self: must join local mushroom club! As usual, tons of great ideas, Thanks so much.
It's unfortunate that it rains here so little. He almost never gets to wear his raincoat! However, his little legs are so short, I have to keep rolling up the sleeves, or he trips on them. Happy mushroom hunting!
So this is what happens when you have a successful RUclips channel……you get fantastic prezzies. Looking forward to your next Video. Wish I was still in AZ, but higher elevation of course. Possibly next year in the spring, another epic road trip in my Micro camper
I got tricked into buying those snake oil bug trap things. What a waste. Loved the video! Awesome wildlife, chill night in the car, firewood bundles, almost knocking Gunther out. Haha! A classic. Hope it was enjoyable overall. Looking forward to part 2.
Plan to retire on the east valley side of Phoenix. I now know I need to join this club! Thanks for the introduction. Maybe a few words on what you found and how you prepared them? I know they don't want you to give away all their secrets. Keep up the great videos!!
Thanks, you've given me the idea to put their info in the description! I'll do that next. I'll cover the foray and the findings in part two, but I wouldn't get your hopes up. Because of an exceptionally hot and dry summer, pickins were incredibly slim. 😔
Please check your vehicle manual regarding attaching things to your headrests. Maybe you use it only after arriving at camp. In my 2019 minivan my headrests are specially designed with a contraption that protects my head/neck when in a crash. Dodge says don’t attach things to that area.
Good to know! This thing hangs from the posts with those flat little hooks, like for a purse. I don't see how that might affect much, but you never know.
Good morning Martha, because you seams to be a foodie and the way you keep upgrading your SUV I wanted to share this video with you. I just found her yesterday. I tend to watch only the ladies, except for Bob Wells (I call him the Godfather) just because and Tristen from SUVing he really takes you to interesting places and he is very likable. I think her channel is Picnic Love " the video title is: (Sub) Even if it rains heavily, the inside of the car is calm/a woman who enjoys camping in a car. Her 19 year old suv is amazing has a pretty cool build out. I may take some of her ideas and love her cooking as well her ramen kit is something I will get. Love seeing the elk, just came back from Montana and only saw one dear while taking a jacuzzi and I was in Yellowstone (the show) county.
Gunther is a very lucky love dog……check out the Australian story re death by poison mushrooms, daughter in law cooked them for in-laws and killed them both… just recently…..
You know, I looked at the specs for both, and the dimensions are incomplete. The width of the medium matches mine. When you look on the manufacturer’s site, there is only one size. So I tend to think that “small” does not really exist, and the Amazon listing is a mistake.
How do you like that kettle. I got a different one, only 300w instead of 500w and its also cup sized, so i can put it in the truck door. That one we cannot use plugged into the 4 runner (up to 400watts) but the 200 watt one I should be able to. This is a good backup if my powerbank is low 👍 I still think this one might be useful for food and popcorn when I have the extra power. Have you tried popcorn yet in it? Do you think the power draw is worth it? Like you, I have a 12-volt fridge and that is my power priority.
I dig it - mainly because it does more than heat water. I have tried all the different functions. There’s a more in-depth review over here 👉🏼 ruclips.net/video/-pXabWC-UIY/видео.htmlsi=PaayRRR_cOwv_lUy My only issue so far has been that the lid warped so that it no longer snaps on . 😕
@ShoestringMartha afraid I don't know much about critters outside of Florida. JUST what I see in videos. I learned something from you today. Someone mentioned ringtails awhile back...I thought they meant lemers...today you posted a pic of a CUTE creature and said it was a ring tail. Thank you for showing it
Like your flashlight holder...better than fishing in a basket of "stuff" for it

Unfortunately, too late to ask now, but I am also leaning toward weasels. 🤔
The head, body and tail sure seemed right! @ShoestringMartha
Enjoying your channel...especially your cooking segments. Your cream of mushroom with dumplings was interesting. Need to try.
Thank you and welcome! That one is one of my faves ☺️
I love Gunther! He’s so chill!
You find the best spots. I’d love to follow you around and camp next door. But I won’t, rest easy. 😂
lol 😅😅😅
To me, the closest match was the Coati. They didn't seem like cats to me. I would have gone with the weasel except for the legs, too. 😊
I showed that clip to a hunter at BOW and he agreed!
Coolbeans 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾 I really enjoyed this one and can’t wait for part 2. ❤😊

No tripping on this trip, LOL😂 Gunter’s rain jacket is adorable. He’s such. A good boy ❤
LOL once in a lifetime was enough for me thanks 😵💫 I'll stick to the culinary kind!

😂😂😂 Ok I had to stop the video and just say Gunther has got to be the coolest guy in the world 😂❤😂❤😂❤
Gunther in a rain jacket omg ❤
Wow,the elk! 😮
Wow the elk were amazing!

Another vote for weasels! I dig the idea of a Highlander for camping. I think that could work really well. 🤔 Team Tajin! 🤜🤛

Aren't people the worst 😑
So enjoyed this..
look at doing a local edibles event / class couple years ago. came out min class size 30 persons at $200 a head. said nope i will skip that.

As a nano-influencer, I get nano-goodies 😄 An epic road trip in a microcamper sounds diviiiiiiiiine!
looks like just 2 house cats to me

I’m gonna guess the camp host has cats. 🐈⬛🐈😹
If so, they were a loooonnnnng way from home!

Well you know I do love my Korean lady-campers - SUBSCRIBED. 😂 Seeing a deer while soaking in a jacuzzi seems like a pretty good deal to me. 🤩
Martin or weasel
Gunther is a very lucky love dog……check out the Australian story re death by poison mushrooms, daughter in law cooked them for in-laws and killed them both… just recently…..
That story was shared in the Arizona Mushroom Society group. Wild stuff, and many questions 🤔

I just set it on top while heating, and then remove it before pouring. It's annoying, but still functions OK.
Pine martins??
I thought maybe martens, but when I looked at a map of their range, it's pretty much all of the US -- *except* for Arizona and the area around it.

Your evening visitors are too slender for racoons. I vote fir weasels
Anyone who watches Pee-Wee-Herman and drinks mushroom liquid stuff is ok in my book!
Enjoying PeeWee is a green flag 😂
You were eating shrooms if Gunther did not validate your observations..
This would explain everything 😵💫😵💫😵💫
