I do not like the idea of a committee that’s not beholden to the public being in charge of handing out raises. The way it is currently increases must be passed through legislation, which is transparent.
Exactly, there are far to little details on how this would be implemented and how the commission would be held accountable. It's mostly unclear language for me.
It’s a no for me. The people should decide not some private individual party who could be corrupt. It’s sounds like greed to me with no care for the people! We all no that the money will be taken from hard work citizens in some way. When money should be spent on making the world a better place for citizens.
Focused on the reasons around funding and purpose, but not the nuts and bolts of the bill. Oregonians have for too long voted on poorly written bills, either due to maleficence of its authors or incompetence.
They say people can’t afford to be in public office but then they say officials shouldn’t be allowed to set their salaries which to me sounds like they can jack up their salaries.
Maybe when Oregon is survivable for all it's people ,they can complain about there pay. Until then I don't think they should get paid at all. They are supposed to serve All Oregonians not just there own interests or a bunch of nonsense. I mean was that measure 110 supposed to be in all our best interest? 😂Yeah thats what I thought.
If being a state legislator is a part-time job, who can afford to run? The old and the rich, people who do not need the salary, that's who. We will be better represented if those people run can live on their salary and are younger with a better understanding of the present economic and political situation in the state and country. I'm voting yes on Measure 116.
Sure, I am just a little worried about the wording. It seems like there is no accountable since the commission can't be reviewed. Also, do we need a completely separate commission that is paid to just set these salaries? Seems like a waste. I am all for making state wages livable, though I am not convinced this is way to go.
I get poor young people are underrepresented in government, but isn't that because they have nothing on their resume? It's not worth bloating the budget more because rich old people will just give themselves raises.

Government transparency is a rare commodity these days...let's fight to keep it!

Thank you soo much for going over these measures.
These are the best! Thank you for the work 😊

THIS! There have been plenty of measures that were poorly worded and it seems like this is one.
You really didn't interview anyone opposed to it? Why?

Currently voting and this was very helpful in making a decision on 116. Thanks!

Okay will they actually get things done if we do???
35k / year... really????? Citations?????????????????? X for doubt. Dislike for no citations... proper journalists always confirm citations

Then they will be people not older and with low wages to get burnout.
