- Clearly, this isn't a genre giant. The original wasn't when it first launched in 1999, and Pac-Man World Re-PAC, which is a very faithful recreation of that experience, definitely feels a little dated in its simplicity. For fans of the original game and for fans of the genre as a whole, there's definitely plenty of enjoyment to be had here- but once you've played through the game (which shouldn't take too long), it probably won't stick out in your memory for too long.

The second game is the BEST!
Yeah i played that one back when the ps2 was the newest version but was never able to finish it now that im a little older and have gotten a lot better at video games i hope they re pac the other 2 so i can finally beat the second one and maybe 100% it like i did the first and also play 3 since i messed that one

I remember digging through my stocking Christmas night while my parents were sleeping and finding this game in it for ps1, I still own the og. I stayed up all night playing it and didn’t sleep I was 5 years old and I’ll never forget this game. As soon as I seen that it was back I grabbed it immediately.

Played this when I was maybe 4 or 5 on PS1 back in 2006. Saw it randomly on Paid games and instantly bought it. I had no clue it was remade. And crazy thing is I was wondering if it was in the pacmania collection and was disappointed it wasn't. Had no clue this was on the way
Oh my gosh what a beautiful memory. I had a PlayStation 1 after it was obsolete, and then got a GameCube for Christmas and then ps2. Not gona lie, ps1 was the best of the 3 in my personal opinion.
Hoping they remake World 2. Just remembering the title screen of Pac Man standing on a dock and once every so often, play hacky sack with a pellet, with that glorious main theme song, makes me want it remake so bad.
I loved when he did it with the game's logo before blowing it into place on the title screen it was adorable.

Sounds like its similar to Battle for Bikini Bottom. Not a brand new take, just a game polished and prettied up for people to enjoy on newer consoles.
As long as it plays well, a fun game is a fun game

One big change is how they made the 2nd boss much easier to what it SHOULDVE been in terms of difficulty
PAC Man is the only character where you can see him in his eyes.

Good review! I just beat this game tonight and having played the original as a kid way back when, this was a great way to revisit it! In general, the game is easier (even in normal mode) than the original (of course, that could also be due to just having more game experience as an adult).
However, they tweaked a few things like 1-hit deaths in Maze Mode (instead of three from the original) that make some things more challenging. I believe they did some slight tweaks to some levels as well, but the basic level designs are the same.
I liked the remixed bosses in Re-Pac as some of the bosses in the original were a bit obnoxious or tedious (or both). The music is a mixed bag, but generally quite good!
The only thing I really miss from the original are the cutscenes. The original's cutscenes had so much more personality even with the cheesy voices. The Re-Pac cutscenes just seem so much more static and bland than the original.
Still own this for my PS1 today. I remember playing it when it launched back in the day and really enjoying it. The second game was even better so I'm hoping that gets remade too.
I think 100%ing it adds a fair bit of challenge. I'm not that far through but the thing has the perfect thing crash 4 has for not dying so going for that can be a challenge. I believe this 95% of completion is score and fruit based where the other 5 is through unlocking and completing marathon mode. I don't think people have a right to complain about challenge in a video game when they only do the bare minimum
I’m not sure they even finished the game? I looks like they were powering through as fast as they could and they only did the first 2 areas, none of the gameplay I saw was from the space station, carnival, or cemetery areas. Kinda seems like they were ignoring everything, then decided they’d seen it all. Odd review, but still gave the sort of thing I was looking for confirming that it’s a faithful remake with nothing too crazy added.
Agree - if you want everything, keep you going for a while, i find it easy to screw up while learning the game to need to play levels over.

Yeah, going for full completion makes the game quite fun and does add much more challenge. I recall Pac-Man World 2 even upped the ante even more as you had to find _every_ item in every level to get full completion. I kind of wish this game had online leaderboards to allow you to see other people's scores in each level.
I never had the chance to play the original, so I picked this up about a month ago and I've enjoyed it so far.
My only complaints about the game are the cutscenes being weird with the voices, and the music changing every time you pick up a power pellet and then restarting
I immediately bought this game as soon as I saw it on shelves, I owned it for the first playstation and i just love the feeling of nostalgia. So now i get to enjoy (despite how short it is) and my son can experience my childhood.

I finished PS1 game on my modded PSVITA and I hated that ppl didn’t know about this game.
Now we are here. Love it.

I remember getting this game with so much excitement when it 1st came out.
But it was quickly put on the shelf in favor of games like resident evil, and metal gear.
Pacman World 2 was the best. I didn't like this one as much. Hope they make more in the future.
The remake was awesome, but one thing they railed missed on was the music department. It really could have used some remastered music

I love the remake but my only problem it's the intro and other cutscenes i wanted the original cutscenes. The remaked cutscenes look very wack and the voices make it even worse. But besides that everything else is great i really felt the nostalgia in the game play and the soundtracks. The changes makes it a lil bit more easier that it had to be but still had a fun experience playing the game
Original cutscenes should've stayed if just remade. Voices should've been done same as Lego star wars. Optional gibberish or original
Agreed. The original's cutscenes had a charm that the new cutscenes severely lack. The original voices were cheesy, but just added so much personality!

I mean I bought the Medievil remake the instant it launched in the hopes that my 1999 dream of getting Medievil 3 or Medievil 2 to be remade happen

But the plot in this remastered game "Pac-Man World Re Pac" seems to be a little different.
As Pac-Man returns back home while looking shocked, his birthday party has been crashed and also realizes that the ghosts mischievously kidnapped his family and friends. Then looking at the hot air balloon, several flyers drops around and Pac-Man grabs one of the flyers. He starts his long journey to save his family and friends. Meanwhile at the ghost Island, Inky warns Toc-Man, a robotic version of Pac-Man, that the actual Pac-Man has been arrived on the ghost Island. The ghosts accidentally kidnap Pac-Man's family instead of the actual Pac-Man, making Toc-Man very angry. Toc-Man reorders the ghosts to destroy him.

Looks like a game for children...Not that that's a bad thing....But...I miss games like Tomba 1 and 2 that I played as a kid- that were challenging besides cute- because they can be enjoyed as an adult too

I never understood why they stopped with these games. Kinda plays like Mario bros but Mario Bros seems to be the only game of this type to remain constant. Even Crash Bandicoot disappeared for some years. No offense to Mario, it's just about variety.
If you literally kept the same movement, level layout, etc but painted over everything with Mario textures and called it Super Mario 3d world 2 it would be called a masterpiece.

So basically its an easy game but a decent remake , could be worse
PAC Man 3D? Been playing games since the NES days, with the ol Atari 2600 attached to another tv during the same time. So since I grew up in the 90’s, you can guess that my introduction to mr PAC Man was the infamous 2600 port.

Your review is kind of ridiculous. 1st there was nothing wrong with the silly voice acting and 2nd, it was not meant to be an open world game. The original was just a fun 3D platformer and that's how it should be- the sequels were open world and I didn't like them. It's a very simplistic, charming, fun game and I always loved it.
