The TUNIC game and soundtrack are both absolutely breathtaking, I decided to put all the calm and relaxing tracks onto an hour video to study and work to in the background.

This game is horribly underrated
I just got know about it until I found this video. Then I was surprised after I browsed it on Steam.
I'd agree if I didn't get stuck near the beginning and get salty about it
This game is a really good example of why I love video games.
So much so....
This game feels like it should have the attention of something like Hollow Knight but it really stayed under the radar
Criminally
I've been playing through this game recently, & I think I'm approaching an end. I'm very close to deciphering how to open the door in the mountains, and it has been the wildest puzzle I've ever seen in a videogame, like, ever. To keep things spoiler free: The solution is very long & arduous, but it still feels fair & fun to solve!
To anyone playing this game, I *strongly* suggest you play through completely blind & never look up a solution or translation of *anything*. This game reminded me why figuring out puzzles yourself is fun, and it will teach you to be independent in gaming again. If you're ever in doubt, take the manual out! Trust me, it makes for a far better experience.
get a notepad ready!
I looked the solution up when I was close to the end of the game, but did not apply it because I ultimately found the deeper meaning to be really disturbing and I promptly stopped playing. The meaning of the code leads you to something, and that in turn leads to something, which leads to something else that must be uniquely translated and that's the message that I thought was really disturbing. To my knowledge, that is "kind of" where the game's developers have not added any more clues and so you're just stuck with a creepy message that doesn't really have context.
@@keithtorgersen9664 the eyes of the far shore are looking at you.
the subreddit is a pretty good place for tips if you're feeling a little stuck. the people over there love the game and the feeling of mystery that it gives, so they usually will give you hints and tips instead of just spelling it out for you. a good resource if you're getting frustrated, IMO. it's fun to figure it out on your own, but i felt like it was better to figure out 90% of it myself and then get a nudge for the last 10%.
@@keithtorgersen9664 was it about the eyes of the far shore?
Well, I wasn't expecting this video to gain the traction that it did, glad people enjoy the music. Thinking about making a Night in the Woods version, another very cool game with a stunning OST. So if you're interested, maybe keep an eye out for that.
Yes yes yes! Do it!
Go on please, you earned a subscriber with this one 😉
Night in the Woods sounds good.
Please do
Yes please!
As a Zelda and Hyper Light fan who plays way too many indy games, this is definitely one of my top ten favorites.
THE MUSIC THOUGH!!!! Criminally underrated.
Same here, hyper light drifter was one of my favorite indie games of all time and now this one may be in my top 3 too.
Tunic is kinda just furry Hyper Light Drifter tbh
Both have a glowing pink/purple quasi-supernatural energy source that seems to slowly corrupt things
Both have weaponry and guns that are powered by said energy
Both have a phase/dash ability, though Tunic's shows up much later in the game.
Both have an overworld consisting of a single hub, with four areas that branch off to the north, south, east and west
Both have a race of aggressive frog people
Both have very tight, fast, and sometimes downright brutal combat systems.
Both have a "retro" or simplistic art style in their respective mediums, pixel art for 2D and lowpoly for 3D
Both have lore about the history of their world where an ancient advanced civilization fell into ruin
Both have a cryptic story that is told with little to no words
Both involve you unlocking something that was sealed away long ago
Both have their own made up language that you need to translate in order to learn more about that lore
All that being said, don't mistake this for me calling Tunic a ripoff... They simply draw inspiration from a lot of the same places I think, and I love both of these games in their own right!
@@sarrakitty Yeah I feel like the dash ability was straight from Hyper Light Drifter, it even sounds similar to when you're out of energy and can't dash anymore. TUNIC's gameplay really is a mix of Dark Souls 1/Hyper Light Drifter (of course Zelda influences), but what makes it stand out are the 'aha' moments with discovering how to play the game as you get further in and the manual having all the secrets. Plus the whole end half with the puzzles.
It's definitely a game I'm going to remember because it was so well done overall, especially the Golden Path stuff.
Don't forget FEZ too!
Death's door is also very good man
This looks like the game you want to play on your day off when the weather is bad outside... nice and chill. 💎
It perfectly captures that feel of being 9 and playing a game you got off the shelf at Gamestop because it looked cool, and firing it up having no idea what you're getting into. I wish I could erase my memory of Tunic just so I could replay it again. Once you beat it the first time, you already know what to do. It spends the charm of it in the first go. Get Tunic if you can.
LMFAO... UNTIL you get to the boss fights
until a certain endgame section (well actually a lot of the endgame stuff)
still a blast though lol
Really chill until you're being stalked by a nightmare fox creature :')
a lot of people talk about the boss fights being hard. and don't get me wrong, the endgame boss took me almost a week to beat. but it's very doable, it just requires you to sit up from your gamer lean and focus up. other than that this game is very casual and fun, lots of secrets too, things you can access from the beginning of the game that you'd only know about from playing through the game or looking it up online.
(side note for anyone looking to play: it's recommended by pretty much everyone to try to play it blind as best you can. it is hard not knowing what any of your abilities or perk cards do, or how to get more of them, i eventually caved and had to look up what each perk card did lmao. try not to look up anything online if you want to play this game, that's the best experience for what the developers intended)
I am so grateful that this game exists.
ITS UNFORGIVABLE. THIS GAME DESERVES MORE RECOGNITION!
yeah... :(
as someone who 100% completed the game i disagree. 60% of the game is brilliant until you get to the 2nd part of the game when going for true ending
@@skiruskronos2732 true gamers have half of the 2nd part already done before the end
@@Extil2 that's not a great selling point in regards to the material
Bladerunner’s optimistic cousin. This is masterful. Fans of Vangelis need to hear this.
The track "Redwood Colonnade" shares the same vibes as Chrono Trigger and Donkey Kong Country. Delightful... ❤
Wow, how did I not notice it :0 it really does have a Chrono Trigger vibe...
In some sections it sounds a lot like Secret of the Forest
@@johncasti91 Exactly :)
I listened to this in full like 4 times today while programming, it was great
1:26 This Time Is Different really hits the spot!
Does anyone else get immediately taken back to the early days of LOCKDOWN, just being in bed playing this for HOURS to get away from all the news for a bit feeling both comforted and safe while also anxious and a little scared???
Disasterpeace music does this for me.
This wasn't during early lockdown, it'd already been at least a year
I loved that it started with Sunset Breakfast. The first time when entering the house and hearing the music, it reminded me of a feeling that i associate with a lot of songs that i hear. It's the "a song that hides so much to itself just for existing" feeling. Like it's telling a story about someone or someplace, or that your past self lived there or someone elses. Or your dreams... I dunno how to explain it but it's there.
Music makes me recognize the faces that i don't know the name of.
Music makes me travel to unknown spaces that i've been through before.
Music is like taking drugs
I'm writing emotional letters to my family which are far away this christmas, and playing this music on loop through all of the writing. Having played the game helps enhanching the meaning of each note, but ultimately the music alone is helping me to express myself. I'm very grateful for this, thank you.
Hope you have a pleasant holiday, wherever you are. Sometimes leaving your comfort zone is a good thing 😺
This game is so beautiful yet so tragic. The soundtrack and aesthetics really compliment the game tenfold. I had to play with no damage on, because I kept dying .
git gud
I was doing FINE right until the Rooted Ziggurat and those DAMN PINK SPIDERS I just had to turn no-damage on the game was too good and I needed to see the end lmao
@@Ocelcinion Those spiders were a real pain. XD I managed to struggle through, but it weren't easy! I'm sure grateful for the no-damage mode for those who want to just see the story.
(no spoilers) i do love how the game generally holds your hand, yet also gives a challenge with the bosses, especially endgame, massive difficulty spike but it felt good finally beating the game
That's actually what I admired and appreciated most about this game. Even in no damage mode the game itself was still challenging through the incredibly flawless puzzle design. It actually treated accessibility with respect instead of just making the whole game a walk in the park. And there were SO many options in that accessibility menu that I wish were in every game, even if I'm not someone who typically uses those menus.
i'm willing to bet that lots of inspiration was drawn from satie's work; the nostalgia, the peaceful yet slightly errant melodies, it's all there
RUclips recommendations actually did their job for once. Listened to the whole soundtrack while writing some papers. Then went and added it to my wishlist on Steam. Will buy and play once school is out!
Totally worth it. Resist the urge and look up nothing until you beat it.
@@masterslowpoke Sounds like I'm in for quite the ride. I love games like that! I went in blind to Omori and had a great time with that game. I hope this has the same impact!
I've listened to this on repeat while doing stuff, it's awesome. :D Thank you!
Same
Me too
It's been 7 months, a whole 7 months of not listening to this playlist and forgot about it's existence. I missed it so much and didn't even know I did.
I got reminded of this when one of the songs were playing REALLY faintly as background music in a vid, and it was annoying me because I didn't know where I heard it!!
Re-discovering this was just as great as the first time. Thanks again.
This was perfect for writing!!
Not "lofi" but not quite the epic orchestrations of some other mixes.
It's a perfect thing in between. Gives me fantasy vibes.
Love it
You need to play Tunic, the game this music comes from
Once of the best thing happened in my life❤❤🦊🦊🦊
The Easter eggs in this game was endless. The work to get the endings was phenomenal. Pls play this game yall and it give it some support you are in for a big surprise.
I went to play this 2 years ago thinking it was just another "Zelda like"......
*One of the best games I've ever played in my life.*
If you haven't played, do as I did and played without outside help or information. It will be a great experience.
i really wish i hadnt looked up how to open the mountain door... i was just tired of thinking and it was the last thing i had to do :( i managed to deduce the numbers were the pages but i just couldnt figure out what i had to do with em... i truly regret not spending a few more hours on it xD
Wasn't my favorite indy game, but the soundtrack was something that always caught my attention and encouraged me to continue with the game. The soundtrack of a game is what really makes a lasting impression on the player, and this game delivers an experience worth the effort and struggle because there was always a calm and rather inspirational tune supporting the gameplay. A truly under rated soundtrack, and i'm glad that it has gotten the recognition it deserves!
To whoever is reading this, may the universe conspire in your favor, and may life's surprises bring you endless delight. 🌌🎁
53:52 Ocean Glaze will always be my favorite song frome TUNIC ! I also like 12:57 Redwood Colonnade !❤
yaaas
100% with you. Ocean Glaze is such a masterpiece. and what a game overall
What an amazing game and OST this isI The beauty and the music and the quest into the unknown.
Truly an experience I will never forget.
not gonna lie i love this type of indy games definitely one of my top ten favorites and the music is fire
Because of this playlist I bought the game on my switch
It's unreal how good this game is, in regards to every single aspect.
This game has one of the best soundtracks, period
When this video was recommended to me by youtube, I had no clue what kind of game it is, I could only try to imagine it from the art and the music. The soundtrack was really nice, I liked its soothing effect... However, the first time I listened to the drop in Ocean Glaze, I genuinely felt the magic of sounds: I never EVER felt anything like hearing something so spectacular. I say this with absolute honesty: it is the peak of composing. I've never felt so stunned before, and that was just from hearing these notes.
After this experience, I got the game, I finished it within 2 days of non-stop addiction (accidentally got to the harder ending without getting the other first, whoops), and the game is as magical as its soundtrack! Now I can even speak its encrypted language, I bought the soundtrack too... All because of this random chance of recommendation.
Just, thanks.
Tunic was my game of the year.
Shoutout to the youtube algorithm for suggesting this. Absolutely dope
Memories of Memories 😍
needed vibes for DND session through the woods and into a nice temple. this soundtrack worked beautifully.
And them you TPK'd everyone and made them play as ghosts for a whole session 😅
this mix finally made me try out this game; absolutely incredible. I can't help but believe this what it felt like to play the original Legend of Zelda for the first time when it came out in 1986
I felt like I was witnessing it with my own eyes. This video has a great vibe, releases stress and is super relaxing and soothing to the mind. Thanks to the entire crew member behind this video. Great 💪

This is one of my favorite games of all time, and this soundtrack is just so perfect. I think you've done a wonderful job arranging it the way you have! I listen to this mix so often!
Even putting the genius puzzle design aside, this game has so much to offer in terms of atmosphere
truly a masterpiece, was a pleasure to 100% this
This mix is really good, thank you for putting it together.
Wow, these are really lovely! Thank you!
The first music is fire 🗿🔥🔥🔥🔥
wow this hits the dreamy spot for me
Is it me, or does this feel like a calmer variation to the actual original soundtrack? Cause if so, this is good! I had the original soundtrack on repeat 24/7 for like 6 months straight (I'm not joking) so hearing the slower, added synths just popped out instantly for me on this. Where did THIS version come from? I must know! In any case, the game was phenomenal to me and I consider it the best game of all time, the music as well, and now, I'm starting to think this mix might be added to said 'greatest' list as well. Keep up the good work and hope to hear more.
Tunic is amazing, i haven’t finished it and it’s already the best game i have ever played. Btw this is just the normal soundtrack
@@dantucho203 Oh ok! Thanks for that! And it's funny you felt that way because when I was playing it, I felt the same way. It was like, halfway through the game and I just KNEW this was it, it'd be a looooong time if ever to get this same feeling from a game like this. Very beautiful game, and very beautiful soundtrack.
i don't actually know but often game soundtracks that are released a bit different from the game sound. like these are more "composed pieces" while the soundtrack is moved around a bit to be more engaging or better fit the situation.
chilling out and this relaxing music is interrupted by an ad for a horror film. good job utube.
Thank you, this is now my meditation soundtrack.
THIS is background working music!! BIG well done!!
THANK YOU SO MUCHHHH i love tunic ost but there are some tense songs on the way and this seems like the perfect tunic synth and bass playlist i needed.

This is a very, very special game.
man this game's soundtrack really is in its own league, much like HLD, Undertale, etc.
Such a fantastic experience in the game, too. Never thought I'd enjoy puzzles and secrets as much as I did. Made me learn a whole new language with how much fun I was having.

Soothing as advertised
I was not a huge fan of Tunic, I'm into puzzle games to an extent but I don't enjoy the more arudous long-winded puzzles (Tunic, outer wilds, subnautica) as I really just like to hang out and brainlessly chill while playing games. That being said, this game kept me around because of how magical the OST sounded. Truly an incredible piece!
What an interesting soundtrack. Makes me wanna try the game. 🎮
Sunset Breakfast gives me nostalgia cuz the first few chords reminds me of Rainy Day from Night In The Woods
soooooooo RELAXING😎😶🌫
