What's the nr.1 advice you would give someone who is just starting out with production?
Watch tutorials and learn as much as you can with whatever gear you choose (MPC, Maschine, etc). Become really good at your gear and complete your beats before moving on to a new piece of gear. Once you're really good, don't get caught up watching too much content! There is only so many creative hours in a day, time is valuable!
@@billiedoesbeats you could print that 🙏🙏 I agree 💯
follow your instinct and have fun✌🏻
Explore, explore, explore. Once you get set in your ways it becomes harder to create because you go back to your tried and true ways. When you're a newbie, you don't know anything and the possibilities are endless. Don't be afraid to mess up. Duplicate your session and experiment to hell, until you come up with "your sound".
Remember the reason you are doing it. Because you enjoy making music. Don’t discourage yourself while learning and know that with practice you will get better and it will be worth the time as long as you don’t give up.
Good tip for sampling internally is using "sync" mode. It's great for getting perfect loops. For example, when you sampled Group A, you could have set the recording length to 4 bars and it would start/synch perfectly when you hit play.
If you were wondering what I'm rapping about, here's a translation:
Hey, I'm jumping on the beat because the beat is fresh
I come empty-handed, got nothing in my pocket
Only believe half of what you tell me
Incorporate the other half into this text
Caught in a lousy trap I'm stuck in
Rather be real than always flexing phrases
Seven unpredictable idiots in my head wondering what's next
Honestly, I don't know
You're annoying, forget about you
You want beef, wheat beer, and white sausage
I'll briefly hit you with the vibe
Embarrassing shit that I kick sometimes
I'll get you hyped and then build a monument
Don't know who I really am
But I assume someone else has a plan
Arriving in pajamas, short hair, short beard, and shitty vibes
A few somersaults later, you'll know, young man, I'm far from a nice guy
They come with lights and white wine, I'm stuck, clenching
My jaw in a lively skier, he's on white lines, jumps, falls on his tailbone
He wanted to be bold, hey, stay cool and order pizza
Bright shit flashes, we will all die someday, he's heading to Nice
Hey, ask the kids if they have a usable pen
Write this text and dash off, everything else is fate
haha war voll überrascht dass du deutsch bist, nice Beat und nice flow bro 🙏🏽
You kill it by the way, man. Always enjoy your videos.
Thanks a lot, man! I appreciate it🙏
Awesome again!
Keep rokn those beats and rhymes.
Love your work.
Thanks so much Tom ☺️🙌
That was awesome.... I LIKE!!!
Dope putting this all together
Sounds Crazy buddy!!! Loved the Rap,Absolute Bangger💥
Thanks a lot man !!
Maschine. Once you get the hang of it, it's hard to move away from it. It's straight fire. The workflow is Fire! NI needs to work on a few things, like bringing the price down at least a little bit (C'mon NI!) and focusing on making this a powerfu, stand alone unit that everyone can enjoy. Right now, in stand alone ability, MPC ONE + has Maschine beat but, not for long!
Thanks a lot, man! This is inspiring
Thank you😌🙏
Marcello the beat is fighting the melody hahaha St Francis I grew up with a Marcello
Nice to see you working on the machine I use the machine mk3 and the mpc live they are both dope
Dope!! I feel the same, they both have their strong points..🙌✌️
@@Marrcello yes I do agree I just prefer the sampler of MPC more then the machine I use serato sample with my machine and it’s still dope
Great video thank you very much
Thank you!
🔥
🙏🙏
smiling
dope shirt!!!! now hes on the maschine huh, killin it bro!!
Haha thanks man ☺️
Great track. I also enjoy rap in a language I don’t speak, I can appreciate the flow even more. Voice as a rhythm instrument.
Thanks a lot! I really appreciate that :) 😌✌️
Hey Marrcello, Thx - your videos are great! what would be better for a stand-alone-groove-box beginner, who also wants to record guitar/vocals? Maschine Plus or MPC one Plus? (I already have Komplete 14 with NI S61 keyboard) thx
@6:00 that was it!
Dope video bro. Subbed. Is it possible to find out what key/scale you are in after pitching and re-sampling?
@1:20 - thanks for reminding me chord mode has inversion!
Nice flow 🔥🔥💯💯✅✅‼️‼️ not sure what your saying 😂😂
Haha thanks so much
Man, Maschine Plus has been looking more and more appealing as a partner for my SP404MK2 lately. I feel like if you're smart and just add one instrument at a time, instead of whole packs, it's easier not to overload the CPU.
The sounds are so much better on Maschine than MPC.
I gotta say, I really dig the workflow..and the sounds are good! Do you own an mpc as well?
@@Marrcello Something just makes sense with how to develop full arrangements on the Maschine Plus. I like that it doesn't have a touch screen.
I had the MPC One and Akai Force but I got rid of them both. I'll probably try again later once I have extra funds haha. But overall, MPC created a bottleneck in my process. Force was much smoother, but it lacked time signature changes or even just odd signatures, which I use A LOT. For now it's Push 2 at home and SP404Mk2 when I'm mobile. Usually use them together at the home studio.
@@remyvegamedia I also love the fact that it doesn’t have a touchscreen, more muscle memory potential;) and the song mode on maschine is pretty cool, with the clips..
I do find, that the mpc has more effects and they are better looking.. but maybe the whole structure with patterns and scenes on maschine might be more intuitive than program, tracks and sequences..
Your setup sounds good! I also own the push 2 but never really mastered it because I’m way faster in Ableton using the mouse and shortcuts, but the push 3 would provide me with that standalone feel ^^ I definitely gotta try the sp404! Are you making sketches with it if you’re on the go? Is it battery powered?
@@Marrcello Yeah, I think there are definitely aspects of the MPC that are good and even better in ways, effects implementation being a big one.
Yup I take my one of my two SPs with me everywhere I go. Runs on 6 AA batteries. Since I play all of my own instruments, I use the SP to revisit musical ideas I'm developing and because the SP has such great effects with resampling I'll end up completely opening up new ideas by resampling and creating new phrases. I do that while I'm plugged into the computer and using Ableton, too. The way I put together ideas is by playing and developing melodic/harmonic ideas, phrases, motifs, etc. I play keys in jazz/r&b/neo-soul/gospel groups and also play some classical, so I approach beat making in a hybrid way between composition and beat making/production, which have subtle but significan differences I think.
@@Marrcello I also will start completely from scratch on the SP and end up with whole song layouts. I just need a portable synth or keyboard to be fully portable. I can use pads, but it's so limiting haha. My chord voicings are very intentional and tied to how melody is developed, so I translate that through keys the best.
leave it high like at 6:01
so you can keep the pads you use when doing octives i thought itll only change octive for one pad
I need you to throw some Vocals for me
Awesome work, man! Do you find a machine workflow better than mpc?
Thanks a lot man!! I really dig the workflow on Maschine! But it’s too early to compare those two.. I think there just two very different beasts, but im gonna do a comparison at some point 😌
Please do a detailed sound quality comparison on sampling and production on M+ vs MPC (a head to head fidelity comparison is soarly missing from the entire internet). Youd need to sample the same source directly into both (to catch the input quality conversion) chop them up via auto chop (to catch the aquracy of the algorythim), do some envelope design to display the snappyness and scaling of the envelopes, do sound pad layering to show quality of the pad summing (some samples fall apart on this one), and then finally add dynamics plugins to display the quility between the compressors transient designers and other production tools. Thiss is the core of every sampler. Mucho gracias
also the feel of the sequencers would be a highlight, tightness, groove, swing and all ... and when comparring please crossfade between the two beats for instant A vs B effect, keep levels exactly the same for fair compairison.. Its a much wanted video!! ... THX!
HOW do you make the scratch sound on the pad?
If u record rap to standalone is there quality difference between mpc and machine?
then we package it as ghost and ghost for the lazy Emcees quiet client list ?
the only thing better than a M+ is 2xM+
Which sd card you use for expand the memory?
I think San disk with 128 gb✌️
I thought you returned the plus and said it wasn’t worth it?
NUPE!!!!!😮😢
which one do you LOVE? i learned so much from you i watch your MASRERCLASS {mpc} tutorial on repeat, you're a str8 BOSS Cello. how do you feel about them, i got both too and go back nforth based on mood.
Oh I really like the Maschine I have to say :) I could also imagine going back and forth between them! I appreciate it man🙏
