This is precisely the problem. The current "Public health services" are lacking and inefficient. Fix that FIRST and then talk about the NHI. Great idea (the NHI) but if the CURRENT public hospitals and clinics aren't working properly, how the is the NHI going to benefit South Africans ? Electioneering 101. This is not even mildly funny. This is the beginning of the end. This whole NHI debate will probably sit in courts for the next 10 years, but again... what a waste of public funds (sitting in court). Bad news for our country and its people. Cannot believe our president signed this. Can't believe.😢

Is there not some kind of constitutional right that they are trampling on? The right to free enterprise and tax abuse for example? You can't just raise the tax to 90% for example and call it lawful. They are trying to get money from working people where there is none and give it to people who don't work, which is roughly half the country. Good plan to make everyone poor.

The national airline had to be placed under business rescue, Eskom can't produce enough electricity so blackouts have become the norm, trains when last I looked were running at just 40% capacity, Post offices are closing all over the place, corruption scandals are an everyday occurence with little embarressment. Government instead of fixing the public health care system have decided to rather take the money that people pay into private health care also. What could possibly go wrong....
People complain overseas about this system and how it does not work. People have come to South Africa to get medical care.. Honestly.. this is yet another disaster... Since you have signed this into law . You must use the government hospitals yourself... All of you government officials .
