Interesting to see that, even though the cruise sailed from a British port, there wasn't a kettle with tea and coffee making facilities in your cabin. We had that on RC or Celebrity sailing out of Southampton. When I go on the Pride in 2024, I think I will ask the stewart to get me one. Thanks for posting and for your thoughts, mate.
Funny about the kettle. We thought that they might be one also. Never thought to ask for one. Good idea. We are just use to sailing out of the U.S. so we have never been given a kettle in our cabin.
@@CruisingCanucks When I go on the Pride next year, it will be my first sailing from an American port, so I will definitley ask for a kettle. I need my cuppa in bed! I wonder how many grumpy Brits there were on your cruise when they found out there wasn't a kettle and tea bags in their room...
@@maryannsharp8427 I don't think they can use that as an excuse not to provide a kettle, since all cruises from the UK (RC, Celebrity and Cunard which I have sailed with) have them waiting in the cabins. No point asking room service to bring hot water. It will never be hot enough for a proper cuppa.
Hi! Cruising from Dover this August on the Pride. What hotel did I you stay at the night before? Am wondering if we will also find getting a taxi difficult within Dover. Loving the videos!
We stayed at the Best Western which was very beautiful but busy. Finding a taxi the morning of the cruise is extremely difficult because most taxis are booked to take passengers to London. Our suggestion is to try to pre-book your taxi or do what we did which was have your luggage ready and be at the entrance of the hotel early in the morning then you can possibly get a taxi that is dropping someone off at the hotel from the cruise ship. Good luck 🤞
Really enjoyed watching your first cruise day! Shame about the issues in the MDR, hopefully it's just a hiccup and they'll get things ironed out soon. We've never cruised Carnival and honestly have never been tempted to, but it's fun to experience it vicariously, lol. Looking forward to the next instalment! 👍
Spoiler Alert - it gets worse before it gets better. You'll see what we mean on day 2 that will be out Saturday. Thanks for watching - we tried to keep front-of-mind that the focus of this cruise was the destination/ports.
Great start! We have never been on the Pride, but have been on the Spirit (sister ship) seven times and it is our favorite Carnival. Agree about the burgers. Dive-In has the best fries, though. Not the ones in the MDR, but only the Dive-In. Better than even the six-star ships, no joke.
I am cruising on Pride out of Dover in july. Am I understanding correctly that we are allowed to bring bottles of alcohol on board with us? Or is it not allowed and security doesn’t really stop it?
We brought on bottles regularly at ports of call without anyone saying anything. Security would run the bags through the x-ray machine and then hand it back to us. Everyone was doing it with us.
So glad you had fun! Was it hard to adjust to land after 21 days at sea? I’m one of those people who’s fine on the ship, even in choppy seas, but when I get home, I spend a couple of days feeling seasick on land.
Normally Mrs. Canuck has that exact same challenge - but after the 21 days (and the 7 day) she had NO seasickness on land after the cruise(s). Also, Mr. Canuck that sometimes deals with big seas had no issue at all and couldn't even tell the ship was moving. So 21 days straight certainly normalizes all motion - on or off the ship.
Norma amount for Carnival. They have lots of kids areas/activities so you don’t seem to notice them as much as lines like HAL that have very few kids areas.
I don't know, it may be a European thing, but if I saw an electric fan in the stateroom, I'd freak out. Then again, they stock tea kettles aboard also, so as I said different strokes for different boats. Great to see your videos again! Can't wait for the next one.
One of our biggest hurdles was the reluctance to use or lack of AC. Temps were certainly equal if not beyond North America values - yet the amount of AC was obvious. However, on the ship we hoped it would be as normal when cruising the Caribbean or anywhere else.
Fantastic vlog, thank you. Got to be honest but British cruise ships seem to have by far the best atmosphere on board as opposed to the foreingn ships that cruise from Britain.
Fair enough! We tried to book P&O for that trip but unfortunately it didn’t work out. We love trying new to us cruise lines and had the most wonderful time on our first Marella.🛳
@@CruisingCanucks P&O are pretty good but for good honest fun, relaxation, food and entertainment it has to be Marella with the south east asia cruises the very best.
No did not. We grabbed some other whisky at a port or two but no Crown. We then had the drink package for the second leg and there was no Crown on the Pride. There was Crown on the NCL but it was $1 more than the $15 limit of the drink package. $16 per oz of Crown on NCL - that’s outrageous and so we didn’t pay the upcharge.
We didn't know of anyone that dealt with those challenges. People had booked cars well ahead of time (days/weeks) and so that would be the best option if they must have a ride. Carnival also offers transportation between the port and airports.
You all had the BEST CRUISE DIRECTOR ever in all cruise lines--Felipe Couto--he is amazing and trains other CDs for Carnival! Woohoo!
We agree and thought he was the best Carnival CD we’ve had in a very long time!
I also love the Pride!!! Guy's burgers are the best, no contest
They are delicious!
Love watching your cruise travels. I am revving up for my first cruise since 2019. I cannot wait. Thanks for the energy and vibes,
Have fun! What cruise ship are you sailing for your first back from the break!?
I hope it was a great trip. I like Jill's ship earringings

My guess is the answer will be no due to fire hazard but room service will bing you hot water.

Mmmmm that’s a new twist - we need to debate the best fries at sea. You may have something there with Dive In fries.
Great as always
Thank you! Cheers!

Were there many children on that cruise? I was wondering because of the fact that it was summer.

Nice that your Wife try’s to look awesome for you 👍👍👍👍👍👍
She is Awsome!!!
Guess we'll have to try the HAL lburger in a few days!!
For sure! We are so jealous!
It all looks great especially the old style ship. The naked tables in MDR are disappointing and make it kind of noisy during service.
It really drops the dining room experience off without table clothes. It’s a little thing but makes it feel like a diner and a little cheap.
Another cruise blog channel you should watch is Ben and David they are excellent
Love their cinematography and have even reached out to them about camera gear before. They are certainly mainstays in the RUclips cruise space.
Confetti cake, I’ve read all about it but I’ve never had it.
Much better than expected!
Got to ask, did you bring Crown Royal onboard 😁
No did not. We grabbed some other whisky at a port or two but no Crown. We then had the drink package for the second leg and there was no Crown on the Pride.

Guys burgers are the best, much much better than the dive in burgers on Holland America. But at this point I will take either.!
We’d take any burger if we can be on the ship! 🤣
You would think hotels would have shuttle service
That would of been helpful.
Or you could go back to the airport and take the transfer from the airport to the ship as provided by the Cruise Line. But it’s too late by now.
We considered this but the Carnival shuttle only ran the same day as the cruise and we wanted to be in Dover the day before the cruise.
Whether or not here comes the weather
So what happened to the disabled or elderly folx who couldn't get a taxi or walk?!?
We didn't know of anyone that dealt with those challenges. People had booked cars well ahead of time (days/weeks) and so that would be the best option if they must have a ride. Carnival also offers transportation between the port and airports.
