This negotiation has been going on for a while. When Diddy shouted out Cassie at the BET awards it made zero sense until now. Then giving his artist royalties in exchange for NDA’s. Negotiations probably fell apart, she filed the suit then he settled the next day.

Yes, It is called vicarious liability where an employer can be held liable for the actions of its employees. Since Diddy owns the corps and is an agent of those companies, the whole company can be held liable. There are other companies he is affiliated with that I am sure they also sued.

But his lawyers were working on the case for over six months. The difference is that it recently went public. So people believe that she’d be able to get a book published or even talk about her experience without any legal kickback. When that’s not the case. Legally a publisher cannot publish her book. And she’s free to say what she wishes still, but that would dishonor the settlement.
