Hi Iain, another interesting ranking. I love Steve's Music since the mid 80's, around the time GTR was released. I'm a big fan of his acoustic stuff; saw him three-times live in relatively small venues here in germany. Two concerts were only Steve and his guitar, his brother John on flute and Roger King on keyboards; great memories... a lot of Genesis stuff. I also get the signatures from Steve and John on my "Momentum" and "Bay Of Kings" booklets, both nice guys. Amazing that he didn't released a really bad album. On some of your choices i would agree. "Tribut" and "Cured" are weaker (but not bad) albums... also "Feedback '86" and "Blues With A Feeling" weaker in my opinion. Specially two of my favorites "Momentum" and "Defector" i would rank much higher... don't get me wrong; your ranking is absolutely okay... it's all subjective :-) Thanks for that presentation; i'm looking forward to the GTR review. Bye and take care.
Nice list. You should check out the hugely underrated Ray Wilson (Genesis singer 1997) solo stuff and with the band Stiltskin and Cut. Some great albums. P.s. I think you'll enjoy Roger Taylor solo and his band The Cross too.
Personally I like Walking Through Walls. :) And although a lot of other fans seem to put Voyage of the Acolyte first, for me it's down the list and Please Don't Touch is at the top, followed by Spectral Mornings then Defector. But I've not heard anything since 1989 (Momentum) TBH. I do agree Shadow of the Hierophant is a masterpiece though. Didn't know it was co-written by Mike R. Also a fan of Every Day, Mathilda Smith-Williams, Camino Royale, Icarus Ascending, The Red Flower of Tachai.
I Love Camel and yes they are being ranked I'm currently listening to them as I type so should be vet soon will be part of the Wednesday Marathon next Wednesday is Jethro Tull so we looking 28th July For Camel
Camel is such a great band, Andy Latimer has such an emotional guitar style... one of the best, sadly totally underrated. Saw them live in a small venue back in 1992 here in germany... what a great concert... unforgettable. In my opinion their first four albums are absolutely masterpieces.
A worthy re-watch ! Cheers !
