Installing a vapour check at ceiling level below a cold deck roof encourages moisture buildup in the plasterboard. This eventually leads to mould in the plasterboard as the moisture can’t escape through the ceiling and into the vented roof space. The NHBC never recommends a vapour check in these circumstances for this very reason. Some housing associations specify a vapour check in these situations but it’s always discouraged as it’s completely detrimental
If parging the blockwork with brushed on slurry then adding dot and dab plaster boards to the walls, do you still use mesh where the roof sheet laps the walls or no need?
