Got lost overnight in the woods once at Hocking Hills. A friend and I were supposed to meet friends for a bonfire at a hangout and we got a late start before dusk. She swore she knew the way, having been there before and it was only about 20 minutes before it got nice and dark and then she fell down a hill and twisted her ankle. Long story short, we got lucky when two of her friends took a guess as to where we might have taken the wrong trail and came looking. I don’t remember how long we were out there before we heard them calling. She had the forethought to bring matches so we were able to start a fire. But, we hiked until morning, finally breaking through the trees onto a road that got us back to where we came from. I love the woods.. from the road.
Can you swim in it?..I mean I've been there when I was like 8-9 and I got so scared that I thought it was a toilet and the small path so I'm just asking.
I watched a show on TV recently where a forest ranger was doing a video tour of sorts of old man's cave. One thing he pointed out was that people had to be rescued from the devil's bathtub. So it sounds like they frown on people swimming there.
The devil's bathtub isn't meant for swimming nor is the little pond at old man's cave but everybody swims in it anyway, there was a lot of people swimming in the pond the first time I went in October-November.
From the time I was very little up to adulthood, many happy times spent here and in Hocking Hills.

The video hardly does it justice. I've been there a few times. I've even been there when the water was very low. It's still quite beautiful.
Why is everyone asking can you swim in it? It’s extremely dangerous to do so
People do it anyway and many have had to be rescued because it's several feet deep and hard to get out of.
