Your zero bullshit marketing strategy is very effective and I find myself wanting to buy every product you've ever made 😂 But seriously, this is SO GOOD...insightful, practical and much needed in the producer space where everything is hyper-focused on the technical.

This is pretty much exactly what I needed. Not that easy to find quality material about music production on this kind of attitudinal level. Seems almost mandatory to know this stuff, now that becoming pro is on my sights.

Yet another priceless video from Illiam Gates. It was interesting that you mentioned Mimosa, he is still one of my favorites in the game and I thought it had been like a decade since he got canceled. Would love for him to come back. Hope he’s doing well!

An emphatic heck yes to everything you say in this!
I am profoundly grateful for the generosity of your teaching approach and insights.
This is EXACTLY what I’ve needed to hear ( and more importantly put into practice ). I’ve been a chronic perfectionist and the left brain, technical aspects have massively disrupted my flow when trying to integrate the jazz musician , songwriter and producer hats.
What you offer is the best advice about producing and creativity I’ve ever heard. Period. ( more so than my university education even )
Massive ups to you man ❤️✊

Damn this is really so good. I love all the life lessons and perspective. With the right mindset, everything begins to appear possible and approachable but that refresh and perspective can be difficult to slow down and obtain. I liked when Ahjan Brahm described going through life for most people as being like running down a hill. We have to slow down if we ever want to change our direction, otherwise we just keep running down the hill and for many people we never even realize that all we do is run.
Love this video man, you're awesome! Thank you so much for making it free. I really enjoy your insight on things and love Philosophy myself as well

@@ProducerDojo I think a breakdown of what makes a track a 'finished' track 'finished' would be awesome (defining that is important else it remains an elusive mid-level term in terms of explaination). It would be easy to compare unfinished vs finished tracks to help hammer this home.
Eg 'how do you know when your track is finished or not?'

Your content is overly honest and eclectic. This is really helped me a lot about re-positioning myself as an unproductive producer:) I never seen such truth based motivational speech when it comes to making music. You re really open hearted person. I just wanted to say something about your ''against the clock'' comment. I totally disagree that this music is really flowing. Those trappers just ''trapping'' the listeners attention everytime with almost the same idea (the drum parts) and spreading the some melody onto it. We re not even sure If the chords just came in that moment. Im not saying that guys has no skill or something. But I think for doing such stuff you dont really need too much qualification and I dont believe this is a good music at all. I'm not trying to say music has to be complicated. I totally agree that very simple songs can be great. But such songs becoming interesting through a special idea which can be like nice match of melody and chords or a great foundation in producing stage. But come on , that stuff is only relying a huge sounded typical trap beat and bunch of vocal plugins. Of course they can make it in five minutes because probably they made the same song a millon times:D. This is pure formula within every aspect and I feel like those actings somehow overrated.

1:45:30 I have an important question about the part around "you either feel it or not... up to you", what does ill.Gates mean by going to a long walk in the woods/graveyard? is it to self-introspect during a long walk thinking about if music is really your identity/purpose? my bad if i'm not getting the message haha. the only reason im asking is because:
after taking music more seriously within all aspects of improving my music and doing my best to pursue it as a living, there's something bugging me AT THE BACK of my brain if i really wanted to do all this to pursue it. and i know im the only one who can know that or introspect about that, but it's making me start to think if is music really my identity/purpose? i've told myself a hundred times that YES it is my purpose its what i love to do, it's my identity, yet... there's still something at the back of my brain bugging me. maybe is it that i'm lazy and half-assing it?? or maybe i'm just overwhelmed having to learn all aspects of music production? but i want to pursue it still? or maybe my drive for music isn't as big as i thought it would be (im still convinced my drive is high though). now i dont even know if im gaslighting myself with this too. it's so worrying... and the SCARY thought of my blood, sweat, and tears and effort into music could be all useless if it's not really for you... lastly, i make music because I LOVE MAKING MUSIC, it's WHAT I DO. its FUN, and i want to make it a living than anything else in my life (i make music everyday, watch a lot of tutorials **+i've watched this video like 10 times to really solidify the lessons taught** and i dont really do any other hobbies)
just like what ill.Gates said: "you either feel this or not", i think i definitely feel it, but theres just something at the back of my brain BUGGING me... and with that reason, when I have some sort of intrusive thought saying: "oOoOhhHh am i really a musician???" i always say "OF COURSE!!!!" but its been weeks.... and these "am i rlly a musician who wants to pursue musician things?" intrusive thoughts wont shut up lol
my bad if it's a long description about what i feel, but i hope someone understands, my goal is just to know if it's really for me, because it would all be useless if it weren't. again i know i can be the only one who will know this more than anyone else (i will introspect more) but if someone can relate and give me at least practical tips and advice that would be so appreciated!
this is an important question and insight for me and any help is super appreciated
    LOVE PRODUCER DOJO!!!!
