I agree with you that they should have played Obed McCoy. Shepherd is an emotional bowler. He does not think. He has no strategy to work batsmen out. When he gets hit for a 4 or a 6, he gets wild and bowls like an idiot after. Generally, the West Indies team does not have THINKING cricketers, the coach included. The last set of thinking players to play for West Indies were: Brian Lara and Shivnarine Chanderpaul. It is a nightmare to watch this generation of players play cricket. Every other cricketing team quickly assess them, find their flaws and exploit their weaknesses. The Caribbean does not have quality cricketers. Slam bam thank you mam, is not smart cricket. We need players who can think on their feet as they play the game.
I don’t understand the inclusion of Sheppard over McCoy, Sheppard is selected as an allrounder who rarely bats, but I think McCoy is a much more skillful bowler who had a good game against Afghanistan.

We need to play brave cricket which means that the bowling, batting and fielding needs to be close to flawless. With that said West Indies were 104 without loss (with King's injury) in the 13th over but slowed down until Powell hit some sixes in Livingstone's over but unfortunately Jofra Archer and Adil Rashid changed things. We need good players of spin to face more of that bowling and Pooran had a right to adjust his stance by going more offside to get close to hit Afra's deliveries. Shephard should have not been included for this game after Obed McCoy great spell against Afghanistan the night before. Charles to me is a worry because his strike rate is not good enough and put pressure on Pooran to play the big shot most of the times. So with King injured and Shephard shocking spell - Shai Hope for Brandon King unless they can get Kyle Myers as a replacement, Obed McCoy for Shephard and perhaps if we were to bat first get Russell up the order so that he can take more responsibility in making the team make a big score.

We were def short on runs and hurt badly by the dropped catches. Correction, Salt was dropped off Hosein's bowling not Chase's. The signs were there since the bilateral series that our pace bowling in particular is unreliable. Yet Powell keeps under-bowling Chase. Alzarri and Shepherd were carted in IPL causing them to be dropped after 3 games. The VC had 1 brilliant game and has otherwise been average to poor. Even before his domestic break, Shepherd lost focus and let Santner lash 3 6s in last over. But we were joyful over the victory, so maybe we didnt pay it too much attention.
