Based, looking forward to the next chapter too. Thanks for highlighting the comment, totally get the argument that it was said Phos was weak enough to crumble in the ocean, taking that as it is it kills my idea of their arms and legs being intact. I could be putting too much thought into the admirabilis sending Phos back with agate when their legs were right there lol. Occam's Razor tells me the most likely ending is Phos's core chills with the rest of the rocks til they finish their song and that's the end.
I’m sorry to play devils advocate, I really liked some of your other ideas, and it’s a cool concept in general. There is also never over thinking in this fandom lol. You made me realize Aechmea didn’t collect Phos’ legs, which was definitely for a reason. Thank you for your stellar comments!
I feel like it would fit thematically if Phos stayed as that shard without any further manipulation, this has probably been talked about a bunch already but consider that Phos has been chiseled to appear and act more human since their very inception. Land of the Lustrous is somewhat of a cautionary tale about changing, coming of age and distorting yourself. (Aligning with Buddhist belief) Phos is now reborn and given the opportunity to experience life again in their most candid form, a form that hasn't been chiseled to appear human. We aren't able to live for thousands of years, nor can we escape Earth when the time arrives but the lesson this story brings still resonates with me so hard. Despite all the damage and lost friends and missed opportunities and sorrows, Phos is at their core still themselves and so are we, and we are compelled to try again. Phos has been alienated from their community for thousands of years so I would LOVE for Phos to join the pebble group, now as a fellow rock again (if you aren't picky about considering gems as rocks LOL.) Looking forward to the final chapters and the analysis you make of it 🙏🙏🙏
Im gonna miss this...Damn the trauma that phosphophyllite experience throughout this story is so sad... Damn it's ending in April im gonna miss this manga so much.❤❤😭😭
Phos being reborn would makes perfect sense given the Buddhist ideas around reincarnation. honestly I don't view revived Phos having no memories of the gems as a bad thing it would be a perfect thematic fit. I can't remember the exact line but something is said along the lines of the last bit of phos representing their pure innocent nature. Having what you could argue to be the best traits of humanity be the only thing that survives would be a thematic ending. That ending would be complicated if phos had memories of the gems and humanity. I think the only way phos can be happy is to forget it all and start again. With that said We never found Phos' head I know technically it should be on the moon. I love the idea of Phos meeting the aliens and walking through the exhibit from the art book just taking about what happened with their new friends. A final twist could be the aliens are just humans who escaped earth and achieved enlightenment in there own way. I know it wouldn't have been thematic or a good ending but I still wish at the end of the 10,000 years phos had just laughed in Aechmea's face. My only regret is we don't get to see god phos teleport Aechmea into the sun. Not the happiest of feelings seeing him escape without consequences.
At some point in the manga (when they get grafted with the head of Lapis iirc) it's said that Phos's inclusions allow them to keep a their sense of "me" despite the memory loss so if Phos get "reborn" then they'll still be our beloved kind child
the saddest thing would be for Phos to live on, in any way. let them rest. let them crumble into dust, disintegrate and disappear. nothingness is bliss and existence is suffering
i do think (or very much hope) that we will get some additional backstory for Ayumu at least. one mystery i feel needs to be explained is how/why she had the dream of being a "weak but important" mineral. she was sure that this rational world of mineral lifeforms that she saw coming in the future would come to be and it did, so it feels like it was more than just a random premonitory dream yknow? i wonder if something that happens to Phos, or something that Phos does, in the coming chapters will allow the past Ayumu to have that vision? or maybe i'm overthinking it and it was just a natural prediction of future events given the advancement of human knowledge by that point, and it was a random dream that helped her put the pieces together along with Kongo's creation? 🤷♂ she doesn't really specify whether she had that dream before or after creating Kongo and setting the whole story into motion.
I definitely said it before in your other video buuuuuuut [spoilers for the raws :saluting-face:] I totally think phos will be reborn as a gem lotus flower, the same gem flowers we see at the end of 107
So I used to think that we were gonna have two phos’s. One the original and one made out of all the parts taken from her. And that the new phos being like how she was in the beginning because that’s when her inclusions were from. She didn’t suffer like ours. But I thought that went out the window when god phos happened. But! I just had a thought. What if there was a lunarian phos? They had enough of her to bring her back as one while she was also becoming a god on earth. And that would mean that phos is at pease with everyone else. Idk I literally just thought of this
What if the third party was actually the last surviving species of human will basically humans that survived on another planet just imagine that I'll be shocking
Have you ever explained the motivation behind the lunarians wanting to disappear? I never understood that, like what's the appeal of no longer existing?
I should probably make a video on that. You aren’t alone in being confused about it. The main reason is just what Ventricosis said “Death gives life meaning” without death their lives have no meaning so they wish to pass on, but I should probably expand on this
@@DingoDummy2026 I don't think it's about imagination. As Aechmea said the lunarians appears content but they're deeply sad. Existing for so long they probably just ran out of exciting and meaningful things to do. An absence of purpose that they bury beneath pleasures. It's hardly sustainable for us human during our short lifespan, doing so for thousands of years must be atrocious.
@@acouphene01 I personally don't think its even possible to run out of things to do, so my first instinct is to disagree. However, the lunarians aren't technically human, so they might be unable to develop new interests or something along these lines. You should watch "Frieren: Beyond the Jouney's End". It's an anime whose MC is an semi-immortal elf; I think it addresses the "issues" of immortality really well.

BUT ITS JUST A THEORY, A GEM THEORY
My friends tell me I'm turning into HNK MatPat😫
if Phos is reborn into a pseudo Kongo figure, creating their own "gem society" with the stones, I'll actually cry (I'll cry either way)
True, tears will be shed
I like this manga series, the main character is always adapting and changing due to circumstances, and it’s cool to see how phos changes and matures.
One of the best aspects of
i really need this manga get adapted into anime again! i really wanna see scrunkly rabid phos animated
Same

It’s going to be grand, and I’m glad I’ve saved some video ideas till after it’s complete
No amount of predicts could prepare us for how it really played out

Probably yeah
the saddest thing would be for Phos to live on, in any way. let them rest. let them crumble into dust, disintegrate and disappear. nothingness is bliss and existence is suffering
Yeah..
If they actually meet the last humanity that survived they'll be interesting humanity that survived on another planet
Yeah
My favourite theory about the ending that i've seen is that Phos will pray for themself and obtain peace. Anyway, nice video! :D
I was also thinking that could be a possibility, thank yous
manifesting happiness and peace for phos 🛐
I’ll join you

True, I know some people expect 108 to just tie all those loose ends and 107 to end with whats up with Phos
i cant believe it’s gonna end soon
Same, I’m so excited
I definitely said it before in your other video buuuuuuut [spoilers for the raws :saluting-face:]
I totally think phos will be reborn as a gem lotus flower, the same gem flowers we see at the end of 107
Yeah that’d be cool
I never even considered us getting panels of real humans from the past. Would be amazing if we actually got that in these last two chapters
Definitely, can’t wait to see what Ichikawa is cooking
I just want the depression to go away
Ichikawa will never allow it
The pain. THE PAIN😢
nice theory
Thank yous
8:58 what if it ends on the rest of the gens starting a quest to find all of phos? one of those endings where the story doesn’t “end” necessarily
It could yeah but that may not work thematically
So I used to think that we were gonna have two phos’s. One the original and one made out of all the parts taken from her. And that the new phos being like how she was in the beginning because that’s when her inclusions were from. She didn’t suffer like ours.

Idk we’ll see but Phos is definitely being split from their inclusions
What if the third party was actually the last surviving species of human will basically humans that survived on another planet just imagine that I'll be shocking
Maybe idk
I think phos is gonna become one of the rocks
I hope
Look, I am writting a comment under this video. I am boosting the algorithm 👁️👄👁️

not me being a fan since the beginning for this series and just now finding out there are art books 🫠
Go watch all my vids on the art books for more trauma!
