Hiking Crouching Lion to Puu Manamana Trail, 1-14-2024

December and January are not usually good for hiking due to frequent Mauka (mountain) raining. Sunday looked good during MLK weekend. We decided to hike Puu Manamana trail. I’ve hiked its portion (Crouching Lion & Kahekili trail) of the loop but not the loop to the west.
It was about 4.5 miles loop with 2608 ft elev gain. It was quite challenging due to its dicey ridge walks and horrendous due to way overgrown bushes. The trail on the west side of the loop appeared to be abandoned. It was the worst trail that I’ve ever hiked in Oahu (other than off trails). The west side of the loop is NOT RECOMMENDED. If hiking its trail, take the Kahekili trail for a CCW loop.
