    • @hydraulicfactory

      I don't usually use a cooler because water spreads everywhere. I use it when necessary. The sawdust grows when pulling teeth, so it's normal, give it as much water as you want, it will grow when pulling teeth. The inner diameter of the workpiece is important for us. The inner diameter will be HONED, so I reset the sleeve according to the inner diameter.

    Really bro. Goggles is a small cheap thing which protects you from a huge expensive trouble. Even 0.1 mm chip in a eye is a big big trouble. On my previous work I had a collection of damaged goggles. Each of them is an avoided scar/broken eye. Like one guy said here - one time is more than enough for 20 years. I even used fullface because chips hitting the face are annoying. Be safe.

    I'm also an old burnt out Ex Toolmaker.
    The reason I agree with an earlier post about not wearing T-Shirts ..they don't give The protection required as you just have to look at the Floor as everyone knows The Chips are supposed to go in The Chip trays on The Machines .
    Looking at The work area where the guy is working there's Chips/Swarf everywhere & the guy doesn't even sweep them up.
    Also when large cuts are made Chips can become very hot & can cause burns so The Operator hasn't done anything to keep his work area clean as a simple Guard to stop The Chips from flying around.

    • @hydraulicfactory
      @hydraulicfactory  6 месяцев назад

      You are right in a way, but the sawdust is always taken by the apprentices. We usually clean it after the work is finished. Unfortunately, I do not like to attach anything to the sawdust to prevent the sawdust from scattering.

      I am a retired fitter and turner and you are correct about the swarf going into the tray but with a large job like he is machining the tray would need to be very wide and then making it hard to operate the lathe. Chips are always a problem with big machines. Cheers Ian

    It is somewhat silly after a first pass to measure the diameter, also it does not use any type of protection. TOO BAD, TOO BAD.
