I’m really tired of hearing the FFS defenders say “you still gotta make em bite”.
That has ALWAYS been the case, and always will. FFS doesn’t change that.
What FFS does is cut the biggest and most difficult part of fishing-finding fish-by a significant margin.
When I hear pros literally saying (on camera!!) that “I’m only fishing for bigger dots today” you know it’s gone too far. They don’t even consider them to be fish any longer. And when that happens, it ceases to be fishing.
Great point. It would be like a hunter using drones to locate elk saying "I still gotta make the shot."
I’m pretty sure Buck Perry was offshore structure fishing before the Linders. He’s known as the father of structure fishing using his spoon plugs.

Its the ole if you cant beat em, join em. I decided I dont want it on my boat, for most of the stated reasons from those against it, but also because I dont want neck and shoulder issues! I take and teach my kids all about fishing, the same way my Dad did with me, and thats good enough for me! We still find em and catch em!
We don’t even use electronics on the boat with our fishing. We fish in Zambia mainly for tiger fish.
It’s an art to know where they are. Lots and lots of practice.
These guys are competing. This is their jobs. Is it good for fishing in general? I believe so, it will get more people involved. More money for conservation.
I hate to disagree with them but KVD I have been watching you since you started that tells you how old I am I've been pushing a lot of tournaments not pro but regular tournaments and this forward facing sonar nothing but a damn video game which is destroying the true experienced a bass fishing I think it's nothing but BS and as far as having letting people use it in tournaments I think it needs to be outlawed that's why a lot of the major fishing tournaments like bass and everything else is going to go under because people realize this isn't true fishing this is video games standing in front of a boat looking down at the screen is not fishing that is called catching catching not fishing
Totally agree. It is the equivalent to deer hunting from as helicopter. Or having a tool to scan the woods and show you where and how big the deer are.
Ffs is like all sonars,it helps you find fish faster that's all. It doesn't make fish bite! Wake up!

I hear what you are saying, but KvD is ultimately a competitor and this is the new way of competition.
It will result in sportfishing being a thing of folklore. No way the DNR is going to watch every lake being fished out, every fish having no way to hide and skill being unnecessary, and just allow fishing to remain legal.
Enjoy fishing now…in a few years we will not have the right any longer.
Love both of you guys and love what you’ve done for the sport. I grew up watching fishing shows in the 80’s and 90’s. I fished local clubs for 20 years.
Years from now, keeping five bass in a live well will look just as ridiculous as when the old timers weighed in 10 on a stringer. Then came major-league fishing, which is a huge step in the right direction for handling the fish with respect.
At some point you gotta stop selling products that are the demise of the sport.

yeah, you guys are on the take. You got all the sophisticated electronics a year or two before everybody else did same thing with all your secret lures and never hit the marketplace until a year or two years later had all the advantages of individual sharing GPS coordinates with you and/or fishing spots.
all as you had to be is a diverse fisherman to see this all along. If you did any trolling in open water you would see what’s out there. Trolling, as boring as it may be, there is a reason its not allowed in events.
I have no interest in it. Im still only running 2D one up front and one at console. I wouldnt mind 360 but only for structure and bottom details.
Millions of bass fisgerman stand against ffs livescope and dont want it. So they arent getting it. Saying people secretly want and will get it is absurd. KVD bro you should know better than saying something like that and the only teason you said you got it was to be able to compete with the younger guys that was using it. Now that you realize how much easier it is to find fish and be able to catch those fish youre all over it and spreading lies smh.

why did you quit bass fishing tournaments at 53 years old he could’ve went for another 10 years. He knew he was getting his ass kicked and there was no stopping electronics companies who are the biggest sponsors in the industries. He probably wouldn’t look good coming in 80th Pl. every tournament.
@randyemerson8729 he's win millions plus all the pay he's earned from sponsors over the years lol would you keep blowing money since the cost went up or keep the money you got, continue to be paid by sponsors, fish smaller tournaments that's cheaper and make videos. He's actually decent on the livescope as well so that's not the reason lol smh. Also Garmin and hummingbird are not the top sponsors in bass fishing. Bass pro shops, lews, shimano, strike king and a few others put way more money into the tournament scene than the electronics companies do lol.
I love the two of you....but man did you side step the hell out of this one. Look, no one is arguing against FFS for the weekend warriors and hobbyists. If you need training wheels to catch Bass, then by all means, knock yourself out! But FFS should not have a role in professional tournaments. If the anglers in BASS and MLF are allegedly "The Greatest Bass Fishermen in The World" then why do they need a live sonar feed off the bow of their boats? It's like Shohei Ohtani arguing that he can't hit a Home Run unless he has an aluminum baseball bat.
We were sold a lie. Technology is not always good. Live imaging is the turning point into something much less than it used to be. I'm glad my father and grandfather are not seeing this. Sad. Sellouts are even sadder.

I usually agree with a lot of what you guys say…. but can’t agree with this. Fish how you want whether you compete or don’t . I think there are things that have been learned from FFS but I wouldn’t say it has shown everything we have learned or been taught is not correct. I don’t have it. Many don’t have it. I feel like It kills your natural instincts on the water …. If you catch alot of fish with it you like it…. It’s just like the guy who catches most of his fish Flippin…. He likes to flip. There is a certain group of anglers that are being conditioned to fishing that way…. At some point the technology will erode at anglers natural ability to locate and find fish which will in turn erode their ability to know when to make changes on the water due to water clarity and wind change and bait fish activity and all the other variables that have gone into decision making on the water for years and years. Technology will always help some catch fish if it’s the way they are introduced to fishing….. but there is so much more to fishing that this group of anglers will miss out on. Right now no one sees this…. Eventually they will. Having said that - I’m not against using it if that’s the way anglers choose to catch their fish…. But in the long run in way or another this technology and the constant improvements of it are going to change fishing in many ways…. The question will be how much of it is beneficial and how much of it isn’t? Time will show us…. It always does in fishing and in life.
I want it but I dont... honestly fishing is getting away from the endless screens, if I'm just gonna stare at the screen on the boat I've lost the whole aspect of what getting outdoors is. I want it to see how many fish I've missed and to help find roaming smallies... just not worth the trade off to me.
Its the coolest/best thing iv ever done but also the worst. The amount of info you learn from using ffs is unmatched but I warn you that once you understand it and know how to use it you will never go back to “normal fishing”
Get the price down and I'll buy one. Fishing today is a rich mans sport.

I say Professional Bass Anglers need to be restricted like Professional Baseball, where they cannot use Aluminum bats as an example. I say if you know how to fish, then all you need is GPS for navigation and a downward sonar unit for depth control and that is it. AND YES, if I was fishing a Professional Tournament and my competitors were using forward facing sonar. Damn right, I would be too. Again, eliminate Forward facing and Side-Scan Sonars and limit it to GPS and downward sonar for depth control. All the way back in 1976 Roland Martin taught us, follow the 15-20ft concur and where that concur meets structure (docks, rocks, brush piles, etc.) or breaks onto a flat or mound with rock, gravel, weeds, logs, etc., you're going to find bass all year long. I say that has always held true for the most part. Yes, there are a lot of lake features that can hold bass at different times of the year, but for the most part it has held true. I know it works on Lake St. Clair.
They use wood bats for safety ff Sonar doesn't hurt people other than the people who cry about it
@@Jd-vr4li well not true. I say, forward facing sonar in the hands of a serious amateur tournament or professional anglers is safe. However in the hands of weekend warriors will destroy fisheries. They WILL over harvest and they WILL kill and eat those fish. My point is this: If professionals don’t use it, then serious amateurs won’t use it either preparing themselves to turn pro. So that just leaves the weekend warriors who are the real danger in the first place, but at that point each state can outlaw them after they see a couple of the fisheries destroyed by their use.

Have you ever seen a wood bat break when hit with a 90mph or faster ball it splitters all over the batter and catcher which could put out a eye smh. Ever been hit with a wood bat well I'll tell you the pain isn't any different than a aluminum bat. Why did they actually ban aluminum bats well that's because a aluminum bat will drive a ball much farther due to no give in the bat. Wood gives with the pressure from the speed of the ball. To many people was slamming home runs with aluminum bats lol smh. Also the largest bat making company at the time only made wood bats and was sponsoring the MLB. "Safer" 😂😂. If it was safer they wouldn't allow aluminum bats in lower level competition and they do lol smh.

FFS is going to deplete populations of crappie etc....its like guys not having woodsman ship related to cell cams. Cell cams are great for invertory...FFS is the reciprocal of the hunting world. Take away these young guns sonar and they are lost in my opinion. You will see the repercussions of ffs in a few years and it won't be positive....crappie are already at risk
Don't know if the populations are at risk yet, but they could be. FFS does eliminate water allowing one to focus on a spot with fish. I definitely think crappie fishing is easier now.

I have a friend who works with the G&F in my state and he told me that Lowrance, HB, and Garmin have initiated an official lobby to state and federal agencies to keep this technology from being outlawed. That alone tells me this technology is problematic….but I ain’t gonna lie, it’s super impressive and makes catching crappie a lot of fun.
It only hurts those against it, but it's ok. Fisherman will continue to get better than you whether you like it or not 😂. I don't have one or have used one, but I'm not against it at all.

Anybody with the mentality that technology and development of a sport should be limited because of their bruised ego is holding back the growth of the sport. I think that in the local, lower level bass, fishing tournament world, which everyone in this comment section is in, it should be either restricted or not allowed. At the top of the sport, everything wide open full throttle latest, and greatest the pinnacle of bass fishing that most of this comment section is jealous of. Hot take, don’t have to agree with it, you must respect it, Your opinion isn’t preventing me from going fishing today, so don’t bother commenting back. 👍
