I was on a domestic PIA flight from Islamabad to Karachi in March 1987. We began our descent to land . It was a fairly typical descent several minutes into it, there was a loud rumble...just a noise, no sudden movements, no bumps nothing, the plane was gliding smoothly .I looked outside through the window,as did many other passengers...we had landed . Not single jerky movement,no rattling of the overhead cabins nothing, it was the smoothest landing ever. We passengers started clapping , in total awe of what had just happened.

Only few people may know that Pia was the first Air line which introduced so many facilities like Hotiling, Cinemas, libraries etc... Having flown on many airlines, I can positively say that PIA pilots land planes in the softest manner. Never have I experienced a hard landing on this airline. Don't remember even once!

I've noticed PIA flight crews are always chilled out and relaxed...even when they're walking in the lounge towards they plane, they have that attitude about them that's kinda cool. They're not stuck up, but they're not up tight either. Personally I think they seem a little bored with all the routine landings and takeoffs.
Great video! Very cool, the sunrise was magnificent! I was very surprised at how little actual flying the pilots did....seems like the computer controlled the entire flight from take off to landing...quite a cool view into the cockpit, thank you for posting.
***** Yeah this crew didn't do a great deal of manual flying - autopilot went on shortly after takeoff, under 1,000 feet above the ground and was disconnected on approach just under 1,000 feet. That said, the autopilot only follows instructions from the pilots so even with the computer 'controlling' the flight the crew are still flying the plane - just slightly less directly!
+Tom Feddor takeoff and landing are the hardest parts as are turbulence......but theres more than just flying when youre a pilot...also knowing the inside and out of the aircraft, knowing the contents of flight manual; knowing what to do in bad situations like bird strike or engine fire etc

The image from the cockpit of the sun rising is fantastic. I wonder if pilots ever get over seeing such spectacular sights? In all my years, I still love being above the clouds but one of my favorite flights is flying over the Southern Alps here in New Zealand from the east coast to the west. It takes less than 25 minutes and it is just fantastic as you're never out of view of the land.

This video shows that captains have a very hard job. Salute to all the honest, hard working Captains who land everyone safely... The stunning view when it takes off, when I travel, my heart skips a beat and than landing is beautiful as well as when everyone is waiting in line to go outside. Beautiful

I've noticed PIA flight crews are always chilled out and relaxed...even when they're walking in the lounge towards they plane, they have that attitude about them that's kinda cool. They're not stuck up, but they're not up tight either. Personally I think they seem a little bored with all the routine landings and takeoffs.

Great video! Very cool, the sunrise was magnificent! I was very surprised at how little actual flying the pilots did....seems like the computer controlled the entire flight from take off to landing...quite a cool view into the cockpit, thank you for posting.
***** Yeah this crew didn't do a great deal of manual flying - autopilot went on shortly after takeoff, under 1,000 feet above the ground and was disconnected on approach just under 1,000 feet. That said, the autopilot only follows instructions from the pilots so even with the computer 'controlling' the flight the crew are still flying the plane - just slightly less directly!

+Tom Feddor takeoff and landing are the hardest parts as are turbulence......but theres more than just flying when youre a pilot...also knowing the inside and out of the aircraft, knowing the contents of flight manual; knowing what to do in bad situations like bird strike or engine fire etc

The image from the cockpit of the sun rising is fantastic. I wonder if pilots ever get over seeing such spectacular sights? In all my years, I still love being above the clouds but one of my favorite flights is flying over the Southern Alps here in New Zealand from the east coast to the west. It takes less than 25 minutes and it is just fantastic as you're never out of view of the land.
