One huge detail is the ability to use metal items over bars. I saved a ton of gp filling out the col log by buying mith/addy kites/2h/battleaxes etc etc, because I could get 1 of them for less gp than 2 of their bars.
My thoughts exactly. Wouldn't have minded a breakdown of the best items to purchase outright in lieu of using bars. A cost/xp comparison there as well as a comparison of smithing the bars, then bring the smithed items to the foundry would be helpful too.
I think you forgot to mention how you can use plate bodies or whatever instead of bars. For an Ironman it is was better cause you have to smith all you own stuff anyway. So you have a ton of useless iron or steel platebodies you can re use for more smithing xp and a little gp. cheers.
Hijacking this: don't use bars, adamant items you've smithed yourself lets you double dip on exp and get a refund on costs. I pulled down about 150-200k profit for addy/mith alloys, because the bar cost was already gone from smithing the items, so now you're stuck with the item value (be it either GE or HA value). For example 400+gp per steel bar versus a steel kite that costs less and gives twice as much metal. If you want raw cash, yeah just sell your bars, but if you want to pump smithing at all, save yourself the GE tax and annoyance of running them over and reprocess them.
Not just for ironmen. Rune platebodies can be bought on the GE for ~38.5k, while rune bars sell for ~12k. You get 4 rune bars worth per platebody, which means you are essentially buying rune bars for ~9.5k each if you reprocess platebodies instead of using bars.
@@skitzoritz From what I have seen you get more xp/bar by just using them at the foundry, instead of making platebodies or whatever else and then using those at the foundry.
Bless you, I'm sitting on 18k+ steel plate bodies and 4k mith plate bodies on my ironman that I was going to alch, but this is a much better use for them.
small thing to add, kovac's grogs are worth about 160k each rn, so if you take those into consideration things like 14 mith/14 ada are also decently profitable
buy iron warhammer/battle axes its still worth it. or make say platebodies iron and steel and use these for this furnace :) u get so much exp on an ironman its insane. far better imho than alching my platebodies.
Great video. Love the breakdown of different situations different methods work best for. I’m here for 86 smithing for all diaries, so I’ll just stick with mith and addy
if you're just buying your bars and stuff (normal accounts) then running blast furnace is probably best, but for irons or just anyone that doesnt like using the GE like that, i don't see why you couldnt be doing a mix of the two. As it looks like you get a lot better of a return out of using the bars at the foundry, than if you were to turn them into the highest thing you can, and a bit more engaging (whether that is pro or con is up to you).
I used the foundry to recycle all the mithril and steel platebodies i made while training smithing while on f2p. I'm not sure whether I made a small profit or at least broke even the cost of the mith-steel bars.
It seems like you haven't taken into consideration the moulds. I was always making gp profit with 10 addy 18 mith with all moulds unlocked, since you get higher quality and more GP from that.
It's great xp per bar for us irons, and the money is decent enough to pretty much break even with the mith/steel combo. And with break even, I assume buying ores and smelting them at the blast furnace.
@@miciso666 You gain more xp per bar in the foundry, and items are worth one less bar than it costs to make them so it's not better to smith items first.
People forget to consider that you can buy Kovak's Grogs for the points from the minigame which I personally have been selling for 200k each. This basically means you can make 1.2m gp/hr using mith+addy.
giants foundry is great for start, but i would still go hybrid runite/gold at blast furnace. since it can peak to 280k xp/h with goldsmith gauntlets with 200k gp/h profit. but it has a steep 85smithing requierment. solid content tho! +like.
Yes. Do it. It new, its fun. I went from 70 smithing to 85 just getting the outfit. Idc about cost. Been playing since 2005 and now im grown and can buy bonds for irl coins i cannot be bothered to truly grind. I make irl gp now 😂
you didint talk about best thing. you can use items like rune plates. that greatly reduce the price.. also you missed to add that you can buy pack of ore with you points that cover good bit of the price which makes the rune/add a little more viable since you get points faster. and even if not by much i still find it more entertaining then blast furnace or general smithign. considering its very simple minigame to begin with you really missed out on a lot of info.
It might not be worth it since I don't think weapons and armor don't give back the same amount of bars that it took to make them. You would have to crunch the numbers to find out if it's worth it.
PROTIP buy warhammer and battleaxes... they are so cheap. and the payoff is so worth it. because say ironwarhammer is like 80 instead of say 2 iron bars at like 300 each.... u make WAY more money. and on my alt i did just that and made a profit while also getting the double mould. all my alt does now is make cannonballs for bonds :D
wait... in the description of the moneymaker video it says you're from Ireland? you've clearly got a Scottish accent, is that a joke to the Americans or what do i not know?

also for iron man and women. make warhammers iron/steel or any combo. always do combos better xp/points/payouts. then use 7 warhammers of each kind and toss them in. this also allows a bucket incase u dont have or wanna risk getting ice gloves. once u get a decent amount of points i say invest in the moulds first. sure the armour makes it go quicker. but i prefer way more points. this way a single bar gives u way more exp. and for my hcim this was the best thing ever.

I don't see any data on the time's material cost and how you gain money by it. Ore pack?
How does this work out for Irons? I havent touched the quest or activity yet.
Better xp per bar
make iron and steel warhammers then use these for the foundry.

Anyone smart at this? My iron has 16k mith bars 6k addy and 2k rune.. do i make platebodies first then use those at foundry?
Kovac Did Nothing Wrong
Kovac is right about that one
For extra exp can you smith items first out of the bars then use the crafted items for forge?

The smithing armour doesnt affect foundry does it??
each piece gives a 20% chance to give increased progress on preforms in the Giants' Foundry; wearing the full set will increase this chance to 100%.
