  • (15 Apr 2020) About 10 Mister Softee ice cream truck owners in Brooklyn are disregarding requests from company headquarters by peddling popsicles in the borough locked down by the coronavirus pandemic.
    Mister Softee Vice President Mike Conway says the company asked drivers to stop operating in New York City but can't mandate its franchisees stop working because food trucks have been deemed essential in New York state.
    Truck owners elsewhere in the city have agreed to cease operations, but the Mister Softee jingle has continued to make a startling juxtaposition to the piercing wails of ambulances on Brooklyn's otherwise quiet streets.
