I was a Theo-deterministic Nihilist for a year and a half ending about a year and a half ago. I was an Evangelical looking to discover the roots of my tradition. I would have killed myself in dispar but I did not want to meet that cruel and cold god of the reformers, more alike to Zuse and Odin than YHWH. But Glory to God, I did not kill myself and am now a catechumen! I'm finally coming home!
I agree, the calvinist God seems unfriendly and distant, somewhat similar to Allah. Determinism is also part of Islamic theology, and it is in calvinism.
Father Ilie Cleopa was one of the greatest teacher of our church I know he is very happy to see his talk’s known by the world. I have almost all his books unfortunately they are all in Romanian language. He was a living library, while he was in charge of the sheep’s of the monastery he read the entire library of Neamt (Neamtzu) monastery ( thousands of books)but this is not the greatest of his gift but he remembered all that he read, he knew the Bible all most by hard, he was strict about our faith. He spend 9 to 10 years in hiding because the was wanted by the communist regime in the 50 and 60. In the 80 he visited Justin Popovici in neighboring Serbia and mont Athos were he have few sermon’s and he ask St Phaysios about his life.
I would love to. However, time constraints and other factors make it difficult. I try to pick the best content that is not under copyright or if it is, it is blessed for redistribution. I appreciate your prayers. I can only do so much for this channel, but I trust the efforts I do make keep making a difference. May God bless you.
The Great St Augustine was a Predestinarian in the Reformed sense....so it wasn't just Calvin who reached this conclusion from scripture Thomas Aquinas also had a similar view
The Orthodox reject Aquinas’ views and don’t embrace everything St. Augustine wrote. He was more speculative and rationalistic than many fathers, but he is a beloved saint nonetheless.
@@OrthodoxWisdomi think we are free to will but not desire...for who chooses his own desires? We all act in accordance with our chief desires always. It seems Gods gracious enlightening of some men in His gracious providence is the cause of their clear understanding of the truth and correct desiring and action accordingly. This seems to be the doctrine of predestination taught by the apostle paul. We have free will but are enslaved to sin, something only God can break- this is to "be born again". Jesus said none will come to Him unless they are taught from above, and only they will come.

I was also a calvinist once. Not anymore. But I'm not Orthodox either.

The God of Augustine. The Reformers followed Augustine. Dont blame them so much.

That's true
A good reminder of why I converted to the true faith.
Not to bas
This is rather excellent and has always been the Church's teaching on salvation before any deviations and twisting by the minds of men.

@@OrthodoxWisdom thanks a lot bro.
Faith pre-supposes action.
