Peak contraction only causes high prostaglandin release in muscle tissue, like a hard stretch also does, but peak contraction doesn't do anything for muscle micro damage, just to clarify. The negative (eccentric) is the only phase of a 2-phase lift (concentric - eccentric) which does micro damage. So yeah, a 30 rep set at the end of a workout with light weight and hard contraction will do it, but the same results can be gained with an unweighted hard contraction held for 1 second 3x a day for a week. Guaranteed.
And this guy's certainly taking some anabolic chemicals. As a certified personal trainer who's been studying steroids and their use for about 3 years now, I see this physique all the time with users.
