I drove one of these from Toronto to Pittsburgh. It was fun to drive but, he was bang on about the back seat and cargo space. It's tight. Oh, and the seats were really hot. Even though I had the temp turned way down in the car my back was still sweaty. Really odd, if anyone is interested in this vehicle make sure you sit it is for 15-30min. Even my buddy in the passenger seat said the same. It's like the seat is designed in a way that dosent let your back breath.
I have a 13' X1 35i which is basically a lifted 335i and it hauls. I've embarassed many cars with it as I love the sleeper status. With some mods you are at 400/400 @ the wheels.
You are a bit wrong about the handbrake, not necessarilya handbrake means it is for entry level cars. For example, the new 3 series and the new 4 series coupe come with handbrake and not electronic brake.
Seen a few of these in person, and gotta say I like it aesthetically. Surprising because I don't really care one way or another about the X3 and X5. I guess if I were in the market for a 3 series I'd probably pick this up as an alternative to the wagon since the turbo I6 isn't available in it.
I guess im really not that kind of person to hurt a person feeling like yours niether nobodys else .your a great person we can one day be good friends :) see you around
Cup Holders are generally designed for Cups (as in Coffee from your shop of choice) not water bottles... they fit much better in the door pockets (and good luck opening one when your in the car alone.)
Cup holders should be designed to accommodate bottles or large cups tbh, in long road trips you carry water bottles, and at least in the US people usually get large drinks @ drive thru's
It starts at 31k. 33k for all wheel drive. I'm not sure where they got the number they show at the end. Possibly that is the price with all wheel drive, m sport line, and every option possible.
Yeah, they had to tack on a lot to get to that price. I'm just fine with the X1sDrive28i model with just a few of the (admittedly expensive) options added, (power seats, sunroof) but not the kitchen sink. Even just the M Sport package they added to this one is $3,000 right there.
Too short vid, and I'm agree with GoldenBoy, you cannot compare the X1 with the larger X3, other class, more expensive and the X1 have enough horsepower for taking a 1500 kg caravan ... why should I buy the X3, no sense to me.
Not bad review. That comment about the emergency brake is being replaced by an electronic button was alarming. These modern engineers have implemented horrendously incompetent car designs. It is bad enough they collectively decided to update only the automatic transmission, but leave the manual transmission behind. We will see how that works out during an adverse situations where one might be required to negotiate a left-right-left hairpin awhile avoiding a vehicle that had a sudden tire blowout. That engineering convention is a poor design by putting too many eggs in one basket (not dissimilar to the horrible front wheel drive dynamics). I read a newspaper where a school bus driver was driving that huge long yellow school bus (w/ a full set of children), in a panic situation, desperately tried to avoid a collision. ...the bus ended up driving sideways on two wheels. By stepping on the clutch, he was able to coast that bus back to the ground. He was regarded as a hero. I seriously doubt that could have been achieved with pad shifters/an automatic transmission. It would be unnatural, in an adverse situation, to even try to manipulate anything else, but a manual transmission with a clutch. Many people's love ones and their lives hinges on these engineering designs. Now, with this button replacing the emergency brake handle ... in some emergency situations, one needs to throw the car in a 180 degree position to save their lives from a life threatening impact. How will one achieve that with a button? That will be almost impossible to get it right. Who can modulate or manage a pre-programmed button in a life-threatening situation like that? Where is any biomechanical engineering designs incorporated just in case of failure? There isn't. Some designs, such as emergency handbrakes, needs to be left alone. The people who brought these designs knew well what they were doing. They would not tamper with or replace a life-saving design with fashion. These modern engineers have implemented paradigms so colossally dangerous they ought to be petitioned by the people!
entry level model has the worst seats of all time! i've had one with awd, base features (33k) and it is so uncomfortable its insane. has nothing to do with size, just seats and i suspect the run-flats don

Most cars--good cupholders, mediocre driving experience. BMW--mediocre cupholders, good driving experience. I'll take the BMW....
I just got this car last week and I’m in love with it

lucky you! I think e84 xDrive35i is a gem of a car. An absolute bargain for what it is.
Thats my new car, Love it!
Do you feel like your too close to the ground? Doesn't look like an SUV?

I love my x1. I got a 2 just absolutely love it. gas mileage is great, very funny to drive and awesome on long road trips.

so, is this worthwhile to buy it from second hand?
Only if u maintain it well
Pretty good review. He does a good job conveying that this is a fun yet compromised car
WHICH IS BIGGER THE 328i or the x1. I think the x1 is better than the 3 or at least THE SAME EXACT THING...
X1 is bigger
I guess im really not that kind of person to hurt a person feeling like yours niether nobodys else .your a great person we can one day be good friends :) see you around

The current 3 series has a mechanical hand brake as well.
Germans drink beer, not coffee!
Cup holder is made for beer bottle!
LOL!
Must I use premium gas?
If you want full performance and mileage. Id go no less than 89
are there any interior dimension differences between the x1 and the 3 series wagon?
Is there any other SUV of this quality around this price that I should look into
Mazda cx5
I thought they made this so it would be less expensive, but for 44K you might as well just but the damn x3

godfatherNYC And that lovely 3K sales tax on top of the price of the car
...run-flats don't help. for 33k you can load up a VW or get nearly any SAV with more (much more at 44k)
Joe's hotter than the car
agree! you only buy these for the name. same with the X3, 1-series, and the new 320i.
Too short vid, and I'm agree with GoldenBoy, you cannot compare the X1 with the larger X3, other class, more expensive and the X1 have enough horsepower for taking a 1500 kg caravan ... why should I buy the X3, no sense to me.
Its closer to the 3 series than the X3
I'm waiting for the XXX69.
Bringing water along won't hurt anything.
Looks like World Class (SAAB)
How can they call this an SUV?
Great !!because we liked ....
Fabulous!!!!!
Who knows the price of this car?

I never drink or eat in my car...
1980
Better buy a 3 series and you will have a real BMW experience
entry level model has the worst seats of all time! i've had one with awd, base features (33k) and it is so uncomfortable its insane. has nothing to do with size, just seats and i suspect the run-flats don
Too expensive.
Overpriced car is overpriced
But is this a man's or woman's car?
Women
Wow, is this thing ugly! 3 series wagon is much better.
