      Great video Graham! I’ve seen a lot of car channels tackle this topic, but in my opinion you explained it much better than most of them. Will definitely be doing some car hacking as soon as I can! Also I really liked the part at the end with examples, especially those British Cars!

    Hi, My best Aircraft flip was with my Brother and his business partner!! We purchased a Gulfstream 4 with a new interior and a few more upgrades, had it for almost 8 months, we took it on several great trips and we sold it to a International customer for a 3.1 million profit, operational cost was about $950,000 or so. When all the dust settled we made about 2 Million off the deal, about $670,000 each, minus fees and taxes. I personally walked away with $500,000 and some change from the deal👍One of the great things to come out of this deal with this large International Tech Company was they also hired the Captain , First Officer and the Plane Captain ( The Lead Mechanic ) which all came with the Aircraft when we purchased it, with the exception of the Pilot/ Captain. The Captain which my Brother and I have known since we were kid's growing up around the Airport and working Line service for every F.B.O on the Airport, until we purchased our own F.B.O/ Jet Center. He has worked for us Part time since we opened our doors. The Company paid for moving the whole Aircrew and thier Family, which is Awesome!! We lost a great Pilot, but he absolutely deserved it and the pay he is also getting from the Company, which is Top Dollar, Flipping Cars and Planes is the way to go, and it's about the best job one can have for sure. Take care. Hawk out!!

      Another route for car enthusiasts is to get a cheap modifiable car and then a reliable daily. Yes you pay more in insurance, but much less overall. For example I drive a 2011 Ford F150 I bought for $20k and regularly autocross a 1990 Mazda Miata I bought for $1000. Spend your money on track time and you can put faster cars to shame 😉.
      I do agree with just about everything in Graham's vid, I'm just announcing another option that is sustainable but not as much "hacking".

I know I will be at the level of buying exotics one day, but right now I’m in school. The other year I bought a 2006 BMW 3 series and I already feel like it was a bad investment. Especially being a collage student, I don’t want to tie my money up in a depreciating asset. I will definitely remember these tips going forward for my next purchase. Thanks!

    Definitely hit the nail on the head with most listed.
    Trend is manuals, especially anything gated.
    Also most things which are naturally aspirated will be supported.
    Also on the lower end of the scale - most low production volume, peak performance Japanese models from the mid-late 90s and early 2000's are already starting to hit the bottom of their deprecation, or going up. S2000 as mentioned, also any GTR, Rx7, Evo 9 etc, and NSX as mentioned.

    About a month ago there was a car event here in sweden and there was a guy who came with his 458 Speciale aperta. I asked him some questions about it and he said that he bought it for about $337 000 three years ago and that today it was worth around $670 000 and that one of the reasons why is that they only made 499 of them. I couldnt belive my ears... The price for the car had almost doubled in just three years... Thats insane, you could basicaly get rich just by buing a supercar. But you would need quite a lot of money to buy it in the first place.
    You could make a video with clickbait thumbnail and all saying "HOW THIS FERRARI DOUBLED IN PRICE IN JUST THREE YEARS" or something like that. In the video you could explain why the car went up in value as much as it did, and if you decide to do it please shout me out in the video :).

      I can guarantee you that the Aperta owner was forced to buy a California and other Ferraris before being allowed to buy a limited edition Ferrari like the Aperta. Basically Ferrari creates this exclusivity and rewards the customers who accept these games with the opportunity to buy limited edition cars that are always worth more than retail. Ferrari is notorious for refusing to sell cars to customers because they haven't proved they are loyal customers which is a bunch of bullshit btw. Jay Leno doesn't buy Ferraris for this reason.

    A good example of an investment car would be an s15 silvia. They were only sold in japan nz and Australia. In Australia they're already selling for anywhere from 12 to 20k aud. Once they become legal in the US the demand will skyrocket and the supply wont be there which will send the value through the roof.

    So basically you need a little money, a little credit, and a car.
    Bank gives you loan baised on your credit?
    You buy car that has been sitting at dealer for long time and buy it for low low.
    Then drive it and sell it later.
    Dont you still need to keep paying the loan each month.
    Wouldn't that mean, let's say your monthly payment is 1000 dollars, that you would be paying 3000 dollars after 3 months plus gas plus insurance plus maintenance... just for some profit?
    Let me know if I got this wrong, right, or if I just missed some parts

    I just got to the part about the Viper, and your're not wrong. The only thing I would clarify is the 96 GTS will always command more money than the 97. There are slight differences between the two, but the main difference is the 96 has the white stripes painted behind the licence plate and 97 does not (the stripes on the 96 are slightly wider than the 97 as well). When I went to buy my 2nd Viper I refused to consider anything other than the 96 blue and white as I knew it would be the one to have in the long run.

  • @SA-ho1mu
    @SA-ho1mu 6 лет назад +44

    You left out several important factors to the whole "free" concept. Sales tax, registration, and insurance. If you're dealing with a cheap Lotus Elise/Exige, then taxes and registration are no big deal. Also, like you pointed out... They're basically Toyotas with a fancy body, not an exotic, so servicing them is pretty simple. But when you get into a real exotic car that runs you 100k-400k, then you're looking at a substantial amount of cost just for sales tax and registration. Could be 10k-50k depending on the price and where you live. That eliminates the idea of just driving around a real exotic for a year, then getting a new one and somehow saving money. The amount you're dumping in taxes and fees everytime you buy a new whip could just flat out buy a cheap used car. And you'll want to take a real exotic to the dealer for service... Someone buying a pre-owned lambo or ferrari is going to want to see service records. Not so much for a an Lotus, Beamer, Benz, etc.
    I won't argue with the idea of financing, but when you add the amount of interest you're paying on that financing plus the sky-high insurance rates on an exotic, then... well... the idea of driving an exotic for free becomes even more far-fetched.
    You've made a lot of good points. I stick by the same principles as you when it comes to buying cars... buying after they're around 3-5 years old and already suffered the most depreciation. It's easy to disregard the hidden costs, maintenance, insurance, etc when you're in the 50k or less category. It's not substantially different than buying a regular car. But if you break out the costs of owning a real exotic (100k+ range), the chances of it making money or really driving it for free are abysmal.

      beat me to it re: taxes, I didnt even factor in insurance which Im sure is nutty on these bad boys. That being said if you were light weight wealthy this would be great.
      Side Note: Im guessing a car loan follows the same principals of a home loan - IE you only get x % of your net income that a bank will loan you. If you were to do this, it essentially ties up 100K in 'credit' you could have used towards a house... which while undrivable could still appreciate in a 2% fashion with similar ancillary expenses.

      There's only 5 states in the US with no sales tax and nobody wants to move to them (except is maybe Oregon, which subsequently makes up for it with super high income taxes). It would really make no sense to move to a state with no sales taxes just to save on an exotic car. And most states are aware of people trying to buy cars across borders to avoid sales tax and will charge you the difference that you didn't pay in sales tax when you bring the car back to your home state to register it. Been there and done that when I was young and thought i was being sneaky. Got hit with a massive bill at the DMV

So now I'm just starting to look for properties, I'm still a few months away, but so far I can't find ANYTHING. Nothing makes sense and makes enough money to be worth it. So I'm going to continue looking, dive deeper into searching, then potentially check out some places around Nashville, Dallas, etc (OUT OF STATE?!)...and if i literally can't find anything, I think renovating one of my other units + buying the car is the way to go until I find the right deal. I have been telling this to people for years and they never believe me. Certain Maserati's work btw! The Quattroporte from like 2011 can be had for 35k and are generally fine if PPI checks out. I'd have to do some research as to when Maserati GT's become hackable but I know it can be done.
    Here's my personal gameplan with car values I am 99% certain of:
    2012ish C63 AMG for 35k (w/30 to 40k miles) --> MKIV Supra (this is a personal thing, will never sell) --> Aston Martin V8 vantage in the 50k-60k range ---> 2012 GTR for 60kish -->997 Porsche Turbo for 65kish -->Audi R8 v10 from 70k to 90k (from here on out I haven't decided)
    Other cars that work: Gallardo Performante 150-170k , Rolls Royce Ghost 130kish (lots of BMW 8 series parts if you buy the right year). 997 and 996 Porsche's.
    Big problem can be maintenance if you go to the dealer, but there are certain quality shops out there that can do the same job just without the dealer up-charge. McLaren unfortunately is out of luck with how they do their maintenance, but I foresee McLaren's becoming more hackable in the future.
