I'm doing the Sierra high route this August. I would definitely take the tent if I won. the last three years I've been using a homemade bug bivy and a tarp.
Wow, this giveaway is absolutely fantastic! If I were fortunate enough to win the HMG Unbound 2P tent, I would take it on an unforgettable journey to the mesmerizing Australian outback. Picture this: waking up to the vast expanse of red desert stretching out as far as the eye can see, with the golden sunrise painting the sky in hues of orange and pink. With its lightweight design and sturdy build, the Unbound 2P would be the ideal companion for my expedition across the legendary Larapinta Trail in the heart of the Northern Territory. I can already envision setting up camp beneath the starry night sky, surrounded by ancient rock formations and the tranquil beauty of the Outback. I'd take @aaron36426. Thank you Murph for this incredible opportunity to explore the wonders of Australia with top-of-the-line gear like the Unbound 2P tent!
Cheers for the NZ experience based review cuz. I'd take it on a mish up Wharepapa in Kahurangi National Park with @KieranMckayNewZealandCaving searching for further 1000m deep caves and exploration of deep alpine caves. We carry stupid heavy packs of gear so this would take a welcome load off my back.
The Contest is now over, thanks to everyone that commented, loved reading through all the places you plan on going in the coming years. You can still snag 15% off of one of these tents if you use MoveWithMurph15 at checkout! Happy trails
I love your content Garrett, keep it going strong! I would love to take that tent for my bike packing trips around Finland and Norway or even to Alaska-Patagonia cycling trip later in the future. Would love @LeyreLegariaRivillas come with me!
I'm not sure if this is a good thing or a bad thing. Looks cool for sure. Its a virtual copy of the Duplex...made with far too light of material yet still comes out heavier than the duplex....I assume its the zippered version. Zpacks came out with their zippered Duplex also - with one glaring difference that should be concerning. With regards to the main ridgeline guyots - Already being a somewhat weak point for the duplex due to being staked out too close to the tent. In the new zippered version they dropped the tieout point from sewn into the heavily reinforced cup where the poles go down to the end of the beak with little or no reinforcement at all...all the weight of a heavy wind will be born by a little edge of DCF8. Requires a perfect angle to the stake and hope for no heavy wind. HMG didn't make that mistake with their version. - just a thought. I gotta go see what 15% will get me. Peace
I'd use it in the spring/summer to finish of the second half of the south island ta that I have been section walking. Have seen 1 on trail and it's light, with heaps of room. Sigh me up murph.
I have been using a Hyperlite southwest 40L backpack for four years and love it. Excited to be going on a trip to Seattle with the family. To hike/backpack near Mount Rainier. Thanks for the gear review have had my eye on this tent. Thanks for all the content from your channel have been enjoying everything. More bike packing adventures please! Thanks for a chance to win a home.
Yeah, I would take it off trail to the south of the Eagle's Nest in the Eagles Nest wilderness, Colorado to Cliff Lake. Maybe 2 or 3 people make it there a year. Really cool spot.
Hey Murph, nice review. I didn't hear you mention anything about splashing into the tub while it's raining, how does it do with that? I know with other UL tents it seems to be an issue. I'd use it on my fall AZT hike.
Thanks for the thoughtful and thorough review. I’d love to take the HMG Unbound 2P on various hikes in the North Cascades this summer, including the Spider Gap Loop! Collie Astro will be accompanying me and gives the tent a 4 paws up😊
Wanted a zpack duplex for quite some time, but decided to first test out a cheaper trekking pole style tent. A few years ago, I got the 3f UL Gear Lanshan 2 for $100. With footprint and stakes, 3 pounds. Lighter than my 1 person big agnes jackrabbit with more room. It actually performed quite well. After doing more off trail excursions and longer days in the high Sierra, was ready to pull the trigger on the duplex for this upcoming summer (lighten the load). Well based on more research, including this balanced review, I decided to go with this hyperlite instead! Thanks for the discount code. Can't wait for it to arrive.
Hello. I’m from Puerto Rico beautiful island with Tropical weather and a lot of beaches where i can do camping. Also, I’m planing to go to Iceland in September to see the Auroras. So I will love to be able to get this tent to take beautiful pictures during the night. I’m a Backpacker and been in 43 countries so far. I hope to get lucky.
Great review of the tent! And thank you for your generosity! Good luck to all that enter. This tent would be perfect for my wife and I. We would take this tent on sections of the Appalachian Trail. I’d tag my wife in this post, but unfortunately she’s not on RUclips. We have done several other hikes and an overnighter to McAfee Knob. We would love to take this tent on a hike to Devil’s Bathtub in Duffield, VA for an overnight stay!
First time seeing a review of this tent, do you think it would be good for tall people, around 1m95. If yes, I dd probably go to do the crossing of the pyrenes with my significant other, doesn't have a RUclips account so can't @ her but would be good as we are both quite tall. Anyway great video seems like quite a strong tent!
Hi! =) Im from Costa Rica and I´ll be taking the tent to the Talamanca area, where there are a lot of peaks over the 11,000 ft and indigenous people, I will make videos of this on my youtube channel. Thanks a lot for the opportunity!
Love your videos!! I've been hauling a heavy tent or cowboy camping so this would be epic to win..... I would love to take this on my backpacking trip in Yosemite :)
Nice review! Looks like a great bit of kit....If I won I would take it on the CDT which is the next thruhike I have planned. I wonder if @Impalaontrail would like it too? :)
Hi Murph, I've wanted for a while to get out to the Ahuriri Conservation Park so I reckon one of the campsites by Lake Ōhau would go hard then maybe some sections of the TA in the future. Cheers
Last week I have tested Unbound 40 backpack and unfortunately it doesn't fit me well. But I like it visualy. So I hope to use this tent for hikes with my daughter in Czech mountains mainly
I'd never heard of this brand before but it looks great. I'd be using it for a bit of bikepacking in and around Taranaki up in the North Island, NZ. Keep the videos coming. Cheers 👍🏼
Hi Murph, steve here. I am planning to cross pyrinees from Atlantic coast to Medietrranean sea. I am not young, so UL tent would be perfect! Thanks for the review!
With this tent I could take my aunt who wants to start backpacking with me, where will be go? And honestly that’s a tricky one because I suppose we should start short and somewhat easy, so I’m not 100% sure yet, I need to do more research (and I’m waiting for her to buy all her gear)
Hey Murph, awesome review and thanks for doing the giveaway! My wife @MaureenScott and I would love to take this tent with us this summer as we section hike the North Country Trail!
Great review, if I win this tent, I will take it to the French Alps probably, maybe Tour du Mt Blanc or Tour de l'Ubaye.(I've been looking ath these trips for quite a while, hiked a lot in the French Alps, already. Another trip I'd like to do is the Isle of Sky Trail in Scottland. It would have been great for my Norway trip this summer, too, but since I leave 20th of July, it will probably not arrive in time.
Me and some buddies from the fire station are going to the pecos wilderness in New Mexico in a couple months. This would be a great weight saver! Thanks for the content
I want that tent! I've been curious about an ultralight 2p trekking pole tent and I wanna take it around WA state on lots of trips, rain, shine, or snow.
I'd love to take this tent to abel tasman national park in the top of the south island nz next summer. I could just roll that side up and watch the tide and sunrise!!
If I were to win this tent I would take it on the AZT. Just moved out to Arizona and it would be great to take this tent out for a spin in the south west
Thanks for the helpful review! Recently got a HMG Southwest and wanting to hike the Overland Track and Larapinta Trail in the near future :) with @Bwumsden
Thanks for the discount, this will help me on getting the unbound backpack! I would like to take my almost 3 year old some on his first camping trip with this one, hopefully sparking a life full of outdoor adventures for him. Next to that I’ll try and convince @peetnl7 to hike the Kungsleden in Sweden northbound, definitely not skipping the summit of the Kebnekaise.
Hey Murph, thanks for reviewing this tent. I've been researching all sorts of camping gear recently. I am doing a solo hike of Te Araroa this summer, starting in Bluff going North. Already watched a whole bunch of your videos in preparation for that. From what I gathered this would be the perfect tent for the changing weather conditions in the South Island.
I picked up the unbound when the tent came out in January. Very happy with it after about 30 plus nights and 400 miles on it. Couple things I would add. It does weight more then my Duplex but is so much more bomb proof and up to date. I hiked in Scotland and England in April and May and the tent handled the rain and wind with no issues. That was something I wasn’t sure my Zpack duplex could have dealt with. All in all this tent a winner. Great job on the review. Whoever wins the tent will be very happy camper.
FLFC! Great review of the tent and loved your HMG backpack reviews as well! 🔥If i win this, I intend to take it on long trails around Southeast Asia! @seahlala
The HMG tent looks absolutely stunning! Its sleek design and rugged durability make it the perfect companion for adventures in the Italian Alps. I can already imagine the breathtaking views I'll wake up to while snugly nestled inside.
I would love to win this tent and take it on the uinta highline trail here in my home state of Utah!
I will use the tent in Sweden with my girlfriend and also when bikepacking 🙌🏻
I'm doing the Sierra high route this August. I would definitely take the tent if I won. the last three years I've been using a homemade bug bivy and a tarp.

I want to try itS performance here in the philippines!

Hey Murph. Me and the wife going on the Pinhote/Benton Makaye this fall. Would love to take it
Cheers for the NZ experience based review cuz. Hey Murph, nice review. I didn't hear you mention anything about splashing into the tub while it's raining, how does it do with that? I know with other UL tents it seems to be an issue. I'd use it on my fall AZT hike.
I had no issues with that at all. Potentially because the rain fly goes closer to the ground so it has more coverage and less splash
Hey Murph, love your videos, great review of the tent. If i had one I would use it to explore deeper into the Nelson Lakes National Park
This would be awesome for a Yellowstone or Yosemite trip.
Thanks! I will take it to the Rockies or PCT!
