@5:13 -- Caller ID. Although seeing a strange name or number on your caller ID screen is helpful, be aware that it can also be used to scam you. The name or number that you see can be faked. So you can't fully trust what you see with caller ID.
I always get the USPS delivery scam to my cellphone, but i ignore it. My mother is elderly and i ask her the phone to check if she clicked some shady link on Facebook or Messenger. I loved the movie Beekeeper so much because it is about scammers and how the main lead stood up for the elders
Well said but unfortunately the largest group of victims are less gifted and demented people. And that group unfortunately remains deprived of your beautiful videos.
On the phone, unknown numbers is useless. The hospital calls from a different unknown every time, the phone company ring from an unknown--theres to many to list, and the worst part is they dont have phone etiquette anymore. They dont introduce themselves and then ask if speaking to 'your name',, they just go is this-your name--and you have to chance it and say yes, or be abrupt and say -whos this. Recently i've had to ignore legit calls and wait for a sms, so i know who's called.
especially older folkd phone call asking them to sign into bank pretending to be from bank and suddenly you see your mouse moving all by iteself...hang up change atm / credit cards immediately
BT, in the UK have a phone that I use which allows you to put in all your known contacts and it sends to voicemail every other unknow number automatically. Callers are asked to identify themselves, giving you the option to pick up. Best to let them leave a message unless it's a person you forgot to add! Genuine callers will always leave a message if they need to contact you about something important. Scammers never leave a message - in my experience. You will see all their calls and numbers though in your phone history. Report - Block - Delete!!!
This is a feature on iPhones. Go to Settings > Apps > Phone and turn on Silence Unknown Callers. When you receive a call from a number that's not in your Contacts, it goes directly to voicemail without ringing.
I've received texts saying they couldn't deliver your package because the delivery address is incomplete or the wrong house number. I recommend not tap on the link in the text and just reporting is as spam
right. they want some kinda response.... YOU didn't even order anything, from them ? i get those, the odd time........report as spam - in - an eastern india can../ i work, for what i got - don't expect any ' freebies '' . if its too good to be true.....ITS A SCAM.
Scams are another reason to use a password manager (PM). Whenever you need to log in to a website, have your PM enter the credentials for you. If the PM says it doesn't have any credentials for that site, this means that you are looking at a fake version of the site that wants to steal your login and password. The PM doesn't provide them because it doesn't recognize the URL. This probably happens because you clicked a link in a scam e-mail, which took you to the fake site. Close that browser window and mark the e-mail as spam.
I block all the phone numbers that I don't know. I never ever answer any unsolicited call. I delete and block, without opening, all the e-mail I don't know.
Blocking won't work at least here. I get a call from a number I don't know. I block it. They call right back with a different number. Wash, rinse, repeat. Over and over. All the numbers are spoofed. Somehow, I sure got on someone's list....
Over here in Brasil we have a instant, direct and 24/7 transfer system called PIX. You can use an alias for your account, either a phone number, an email, your CPF (a nationwide unique number issued to each person that register for it) / CNPJ (the same, but for companies) or even a random key. It is becoming quite common to scammers to transfer a big amount into a person account, using their phone number as the transfer key, and call them to explain it was intented to transfer to someone else, and ask them to do that. BUT, if they do, the scammers right away use the "fraud prevention" system to have the money transfered back to their account. So you have the amount removed from your account twice: one for the "favor" you did, and the other to "return" the cash to the fraudsters. The rule of gold in that situation is: don't know where that "PIX" came from? Don't touch it. At most, contact your bank if it would be safe to just use the "return PIX", wich woudl trigger a especial transfer signaling that the amount was properly returned to the source account. If you transfer to a different account you lose protection of your own bank, because you may be flagged as a scammer yourself, by trying to keep money that does not bellong to you No hacking, just the pure old social engeneering and naivete of the people still new into how PIX works
There are scams when someone calls pretending to be from Microsoft saying either your license has expired or they need to access your computer to fix it. MIcrosoft does not call people at home
I do everything possible to offend Pradeep from 1.800.India who says his name is Robert or Michael. Waste their time and do whatever you can to get under their skin.
Foreign accents are my first clue...the Australian accent is hard to copy. Next I ask them where they are ringing from. I then ask to name a few suburbs close to where they are ringing from...most then hang up.. one hapless scammer said "China town" Still amused by this valiant try.
i receive, random phone calls. Telling me, that 1300 $ is drawn on my bank account , Ebay. Then, a 300 $ one, on another account. Then, the voice says....'' IF THIS WASN'T YOU,......ENTER no ........// I do NOTHING....NO RESPONSE - AS THE NUMBER IS UNKNOWN TO ME . DELETE...with NO action taken. I DON'T EVEN HAVE AN EBAY ACCOUNT. ! Checked the phone number.....dialled it.....'' this call cannot be completed as dialed ''.....tells me, everything i knew before. Cementing the ' scammer ' case. Period . . period. / Thanks, again, Leo . Keep shovelling snow....
Can someone please help me :( ... it's serious. I can no longer open my email address, I filled in everything Microsoft asked me with a recovery address I recently created. They said we can confirm within 24 hours if it's you or not. A week has passed and I'm still waiting for an answer. Is this normal? any tips ? thank you :(
@@askleonotenboom I find it amusing, because here in Brasil they never charged us for caller id, neither for landline nor for cellphones. For landline they were not available at first, of course, but when it did, it was for granted and included for everyone, as long as you had a device capable to receive and show it on a screen
This is a bit off subject Leo. Since moving to windows 11, I can no longer find the original dates that my photos were created. This subject seems to be totally avoided by all You Tubers on my search, other than to make you believe the photos are taken on a different date/time/location! That's a bit of a scam or fraud in itself. Any suggestions?

People always say “I’ll never fall for that!”, until they do. We all must watch the signs and think twice before doing anything.
7:33 Once, I firmly reprimanded a person speaking with Indian accent to stop scamming people and they responded by insulting my mother.

It’s so sad, now a days, we aren’t safe going out, nor staying home! Never ask anything numbers you don’t know, texts you don’t know! Great video!

not sure about demented. More likely trusting, desperate and naïve to the real world of crooks.

most victims do not view tech forums...
When fake tech support people call me I ask them why do you need to know what OS I am using, don't you know?

is religion a scam ? a topic often taboo ..
Hard to tell if you are for real or just trolling. If it is the latter, please respect these great informative videos.
It is a fraud.
@@juanfigueroa4989 Possibly the wrong forum, but the topic is still relevant. A scam is a scam no matter how it is cloaked in respectability.
