I feel like VW should have designed a minivan themselves. Chrysler parts are not particularly good quality, especially around that time, and I believe this particular model may have associated VW with unreliability even though this was essentially a Chrysler van.
It's 2021, I'm driving my 2009 VW Routan with 157,000 miles and it runs strong and smoothly. Love her.
