Lucky for me, my Rolls Royce mechanic/ friend worked at Bentley High Point for 40 years! He is 45 minutes from me! Gary is a master mechanic for many makes!
The oil in the SU is not for lubrication; it's a damper for the piston and serves a two-fold purpose; the main is to hinder a too sudden rise under acceleration (acting as an accelerator pump), the other is to prevent flutter under steady load.
Very happy to see Gary on your channel. Really enjoy "Classic Obsession" Gary really knows his stuff and I love his take on and enthusiasm for Classics.
He's the one. I've learned loads by watching his videos.the Rolls Royce is an absolute brilliant car. The older ones too! It's just the maintenance. It's a pain in the a............?
I didn't know Don's DI was still in business i enjoyed working around there shop when they were on DI and Cambridge. Im not a master mechanic myself i just enjoy working my 3 old rolls when i have time all of my cars need much love
Very cool video Bob. I like that you are going to paint the Corniche bright red. It is going to look amazing. 😻 With the inside I like your idea of going with a black wood. I would choose a gorgeous Macassar Ebony wood, which is a dark almost black wood with beautiful dark red marbling all through it. They use it on top of the line Range Rovers. It would look magnificent in that dash. Over Piano Black wood which would scratch and look dirty always with the Nevada sand in the air. In addition to attracting too much sunlight and it would destroy the wood too quickly and be way too hot to the touch if your wife happened to touch the piano black.
Been watch since you picked it up at the garage so glad your going through the vision on the restoration 🙌 white and red and piano black perfect for Vegas
Love Gary's yellow ADIDAS soccer sneaks, Bob's glasses not so much! LOL Whatever makes you happy or whatever it takes to get noticed and create discussion! Stay weird!
The issue with the right rear window motor is not the switch or motor. It is common for the wires in the driver door to weaken and eventually break and this is what you see.
If you have a defective float in the carb, it will spill fuel thru the fuel tree at the back of the engine. Cleaning the float valve may work, but checking the float is just important as is setting the float level itself.
I just bought a RR Mansory Wraith. It's a Salvage title (Flood damage) replaced most of the wiring with BMW parts ,since they make the RR now. I LOVE THAT CAR!!!!
The white car is Vanden-Plas 4 litre R , and amalgamation between the British Motor Corporation and RR supplying a 4 litre ' military ' engine , introduced I think in late 1964 until around 1968.The body was based on the Austin Westminster 6/110 with ' upmarket ' detailing by Vanden Plas at Kingsbury.
The second two pieces are in the toaster. Its good. I was tempted to get white-trashy and dump Tabasco on but im keeping it an authentic English culinary experience 😂
The Heinz Baked beans on toast is a nice English touch with a cuppa (cup of tea) but to be truly authentic maybe you ave’ to have it with a few McVitie’s Digestives (whole grain cookies covered with English chocolate) much better than the awful American puked flavor chocolate. have you tasted chocolate kisses. 🤢🤮
Yes, very true followed by some “Rich Tea” biscuits. And no “Digestive’s” are not if you have a problem going to the bathroom as America’s seem to think. Just a name. Whole grains with a layer of thick English chocolate just pairs well with a cup of tea. 👌🏻👍🏻

Well done buddy... Gary is the King of RR restoration!

Great video
Big fan, but you don't put your pinky finger out when you drink tea ;)
Does the Mrs BNH plate have a story behind it.
yes, watch my other videos on the car
As a professional British person, its seems so strange to me seeing a RR that's a left hand drive.
I hope you get your Rolls - Royce Running
Well hopefully you’ve picked Garry brain , and now know a little more about them 👍👍👍🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧Manchester England 🏴
18:00 Its 1:07am, im laying in bed, now im getting up to make Heinz beans on toast. Damn that looks good
The second two pieces are in the toaster. Its good. I was tempted to get white-trashy and dump Tabasco on but im keeping it an authentic English culinary experience 😂
Wow that was a bit scary seeing that fuel pouring out. Hopefully they’ll have everything fixed asap. I’m going to have to try the beans on toast. 😅
Have seen Mat Armstrong Rolls Royce project ?
Gary didnt look like he was having a good time. i hope i'm wrong. i want to see that Corniche cruising down Boulder Highway.
He’s from Liverpool, he can’t help but be miserable.
You need old school mechanics who know what there doing Bob we have loads of specialists in the UK
The Black corniche needs a red interior
Y-E-S-S-S-S-S!!!
A word of warning Bob... Do not be around Gary the day after he has had beans on toast and a few beers 😀You'll need a gas mask!
Hmm, would I bring my car to that auto shop? - hell no!
RR & Bentley from this era, and up to when the Germans took over, are quite unconventional in many aspects of design.
🤘😎🤘
Hey Bob, ask Gary, do you really have to speak in that english accent?
