Great that the video started by showing his abilities as a great passer of the ball. Everyone knows he could strike the ball like almost nobody else. There is a quote from Gordon Banks about how he "punished the ball", which sums it up nicely. His ability to glide past people has been commented on a lot, and that is down to the fact that firstly he was 2 footed and had exquisite control and touch, but also (and rarely mentioned) he was very quick. I remember seeing him in the TV program "Superstars" after he had retired in the mid 1970s and he won the 100m effortlessly. It's not a coincidence that England and Manchester United won big titles when he was in his prime. I remember another member (I think Nobby Styles) of the '66 team saying that one of the main things Alf Ramsey would tell him, and others to do was "give the ball to Bobby". And in an era now when EVERY game is marred by play acting, diving, faking injuries, he was a true sportsman, who as far as I know was never sent off and only ever booked once. IMHO he's easily England's greatest ever player and in the top 10 of all time.

Fortunately I’m old enough to remember watching him play in his prime from the mid 60’s Man Utd team onwards with Best, Law, Kidd etc alongside him. As a Newcastle fan it was always against us but being he was from the north east too I was always in awe of his sublime skills. The word greatest gets banded about far too easily these days to describe players who in my opinion wouldn’t be fit enough to lace up Sir Bobbys boots. He was without doubt the greatest English player there has ever been and one of the greatest players the world has ever seen. He ranks up there alongside the likes of Pele, Maradona & Messi just to name a few. He was a true gentleman of the game and played it the same way, no hacking players down or diving about trying to cheat for penalties. He will be sorely missed by all who loved watching him play. Thank you for the memories. RIP Sir Bobby.
